It's not like songs were reworked to have five singers.
All the CM songs are still Solo songs with the rest being background dancers. The duet songs have the same treatment too. Focus is on the singers of the song while the rest are just kind of there to fill in the 5 idol spots as per required by the gameplay mechanics.
As for the commus, the other idols are just extra characters. For example, despite the others being part of the MV performance, Miho's CM commu was primarily just a Miho and Uzuki commu. The other three girls had a couple of lines, but their presence was ultimately inconsequential to the commu.

They went through three years of Jewelries in less than one and most CMs have already been added to the game. I've been waiting for a content slowdown since the Kaede + Miho gacha but they seem to keep everything running at 11 speed.
I don't know the exact numbers but people seem to be saying that SS is making the franchise extremely successful. I'd like for them to keep up this pace but that would mean years worth of CG content every few months.

The monthly CD has 3 songs. If they decide to use those songs as token events they will never run out of content. Besides those we have 19 songs from the IDOL selection albums plus 7 anime 2nd season songs. To be fair, that was always their start in CG. The Pink Check School outfits were their very first + forms. They just didn't show how they interacted.

Clone analogy isn't exactly baseless. At least for Miho's case. Not really sure about Kyoko.
But competitive, they're not. Miho was pretty much just meekly staying on the sidelines in the Love Destiny event.
Acting could work, but CG hardly focuses on that. And even when it happens, like in the current event, we get an unvoiced barely developed shell of an act.
