I've found theres 3 phases all mmo generals go through.
Phase 1 is when the game is usually first out or a major patch hits which changes things up. The thread is full of questions, people getting to know each other, personalities being developed and memes being born. I think most people consider this the best time of any general as shitposting is at an all time low and everyone is just having fun,
Phase 2 is when the game has been out for a few days and content drought starts to kick in. Most people in the thread know each other and friend circles start to form. People move away from playing with the thread and mostly just staying in their circles, statics form and content gets run hard. Personalities are developed and we usually know what to expect from a post based on it's image. New memes aren't born but rather existing ones are expanded on. Shitposting starts to form from the general boredom, avatarfags usually get targeted at this point as they're the easiest to attack. Some light drama at this point too with people quitting or friendships ending but nothing major.
Phase 3 is when you can officially say the thread is dead. Most people have moved on by now with only a couple of old players still around because they're in too deep to get out. The thread is now mostly used as a hang out point rather then people even playing the game anymore. Erp is no longer ironic and degeneracy reaches an all time high. No one really talks about the game anymore and it's mostly just a bunch of personalities talking to each other with attached images stopping the thread from falling off page 10. It's mostly just Second life with some mmo stuff at this point as people just hang around due to friendships.

F2P Model isn't bad, because of what it allows a game to be, some people who pay into it with static items and non RNG help this model be successful in a positive way.
But when people piss their money away on RNG, they ruin the system, because companies deem it ok to put low effort, no risk, low reward for the player boxes, in the shop, and then shove outfits and items that should be direct purchase, into these boxes, and then expect EVERYONE pay to win, cosmetic buyers, and average players to buy these boxes to get only a small chance of what they want.
It's ok to pay for a ton of outfits in a f2p game. They never expire, the developers had to work for it, and they provided you something that's worth exchanging for.
But it's not ok to buy RNG boxes, and paytowin items and scream out to the industry "HEY LOOK AT ME, MY WALLET IS FREE FOR YOU TO TAKE FROM! PLEASE JUST TAKE MY CREDIT CARD AND CHARGE AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE!"
