Ok, it looks pretty. Can you keep it looking pretty when you build a giant expansive world? Or is the whole world going to be grassland?

There's a reason indie games don't even try to approach this level of graphics. It's not that hard to get it working for one scene, but making a whole game like this is impossible solo (or else AAA studios would be shitting out tons of games instead of hiring 100 man teams).

Alternatively you need a game where you can get away with limited assets (like the DD Ace Combat game, where all you really need is a detailed sky/ground/planes).

>>
>>147908596
you're going to get bullied a bit, so I hope you have a thick skin

the gameplay mechanic (walking on walls / gravity / perspective changing) isn't super unique - a lot of people think of the idea when they start deving... but I don't think anyone has ever actually implemented it well, so if you nailed it you might have something special

you're also making what looks like an arena shooter - be warned that multiplayer indie games are 99% doomed to failure no matter how good they are just because the playerbase isn't big enough

the game also looks like a tech demo right now - do you have a plan for making the assets? can you model/texture/etc?

basically we've seen a lot of games like yours before, so we're a bit cynical

i hope you've got a trick up your sleeve

Not really related to gamedev, but I feel like a missed opportunity was Twitch Plays Pokemon Go with a GPS spoofer. It seems harder than it looks, though, because you'll have to convert Google Maps to walkable/unwalkable tiles otherwise people can just walk over the ocean.

I think it's too late now though because the popularity will be gone within a month seeing as the game is so shallow.

>Would you play it
No, but someone else might. However as already pointed out the models don't feel like they belong there. Make your own in a style that meshes with the level, doesn't need to be photorealistic humans, it could be some blocky figures or whatever instead.

Also, third person mode isn't needed. Switch to first person, this also reduces the demand for pretty and sparkly player models.

And finally the juice is lacking, it looks like you're throwing pool table balls at eachother, add some neon plasma balls, bright orange rockets and other impactful weapons.

I made a couple of videos where i play some of the demo day demos, so the devs can get some feedback.
Originally I wanted to play all of the demos but there are just so many of them this time around, plus i realized that some of the devs won't be even interested in me giving comments on their games in my broken whispery english while i play their demo.
So if you want me to play your demo just reply to this post with the name of your demo and i will try to do it.
This way if no one is interested i will at least save myself all of that work.

Here is the link to the first 5 games i did:

you take the normal n by v⃗ ⨯ x⃗, then take the sign of n from the sum of its components, multiply the sign into the magnitude of n, and do

atan2(||n|| * sign, v · x)

then map the negative parts into positive by 2pi

I got all of the "content" for alchemy/potions in the game, but it's still non-functional. That means all the 3d models and UI textures are there, and I also created a data table for recipes and colors. So tomorrow I will add the code to mix potions based on the recipes, then I have to give them each some kind of function when you drink it. I ended up making the reagents actually count as potions, and I'm not sure if that was a mistake yet because I had to special-case them a bit in the code since they can't be mixed (they can be consumed for minuscule benefits though). Oh well.

If anyone is interested in trying it, you can play here (though without the alchemy):

So to sum it up, you don't know to art and you also don't know how to programming. And you refuse to learn either and instead post memepictures all day.

Oh god I never realized how awful Bokube looks on its lowest quality graphics settings! What is your specs anon?

I laughed at you skipping the first set of dialogue at the start and missing the E key for rotating the camera tutorial bit haha.

The bits were you screwed up made me laugh pretty hard actually if you play through any more of it and record let me know.

The bug not letting you progress I had no idea about since it didn't occur on my playtest, I will fix that and push an update soon.

Vertex coloring could probably be learned well from here:

It's not that complicated.

Here's a more direct example.

Platforming and exploration.

You're an astronaut trapped in the "hyperspace".
First part of the game is focused on navigating from planet to planet. Using the movement system (with sprint & jump) as well as all the material stuff you can find to gain height and/or speed.
After a while you'll find a Jetpack, allowing you to easily travel from planet to planet and explore all the stuff that was out of reach before.
In that second part of the game, everything will become a little more fucked up and puzzles will be really different from each others but all of them will revolve on player's perception and paradigm shifts.

Sometimes (always) I question goverment action. Especially who's responsible.

Because consider how much Russia loses by banning github. It's an insane software development resource.

So if I was some lunatic politician who decided 'oh, someone hosted a text file, we have to ban this'. Where's the agency that tells me to shut the fuck up or kidnaps me and throws me into some uranium mine or whatever.

That clearly doesn't exist in this case. I think it'd be good all over the place. Punish retards harshly. It's not even about if someone is retarded or not. It's more about what the consequences were, even if it'd be regarded as wise by people to take that course of action if it has objectively negative consequences (which isn't that hard to tell in many cases) just shoot the person who made the decision.

If you take this perspective on politics, everyone who said or did something stupid died, you'd quickly see how much better that system is.
>but death penalty is a bit harsh
Consider the consequences of reduced economic growth in a country like Russia. Decisions like these have probably killed hundreds already. So what's 1 person if you can start discouraging stuff like this?

Yes I know he should catch it, it's even easy. I'm just about to go out though!

Wanted to make it start from the side and have a round curving pattern... but it proved awkward since most of my game is tight rooms.

Still proves to be a fun combo with a melee weapon in the other hand though, stabbing shit while you wait for the boomerang to hit something (or not).
>>

Well. You'd have to start with a clean slate right?
Either they can't be politicians anymore or you just slay all of them.

Then you enact the laws and people who (hopefully, for their own well-being) give a shit take office via democratic vote and they are held accountable for all consequences of changes to the system.

Excellent, thank you very much. To answer a few things you pointed out:
-There are no other weapons yet, I had to rush to get any attack at all in the game. More are planned though.
-A lives system is planned, not sure yet if respawning in place or checkpoints.
-The keys are remappable by editing the config file, though I know that's tedious. Next version will hopefully have a menu for that.
-I'll probably do something about the falling sneks, though watching people die to them while climbing those ladders has been hilarious.
-There actually was a tiny secret in that wall
-You got almost halfway through the game

Also fuck, I just realized I shipped a config file with the window coordinates set to 0,0 and apparently on Windows this places the window too high to grab the titlebar and move the window. I've reuploaded the game with more sane settings, though you can just edit (or remove) the config file to fix it.

Even I've been taken by surprise by those sneks. See the part in >>147915937 where he gets killed by the snake ( https://youtu.be/brU3NMWxO3U?t=524 ). The snake turns mid-air and falls to the middle platform. I never planned for this to happen but since their behavior is randomized at fixed intervals, there's a good 1/3 chance for that every time that particular snake decides to walk off the cliff.

Hey Grid Dev:
Couldn't you just steal the movement system Pokemon Mystery Dungeon has? Movement is WASD, both for a diagonal, and if you're holding spacebar or something you can only move diagonal. You could also put in like a 5 frame (83ms) buffer before movement to allow the player enough time to do a diagonal. I couldn't really see anyone who plays video games fucking that up.
