Meifang attacks Mai, but Kagura comes to protect Mai and allow her to escape.
Meifang easily defeats Kagura offscreen.
Kajun gives Mai one of the Legacy Weapons, Outseal.
Mai fights off Meifang for a minute or two until Kajun teleports Mai's ass out of there.
Mai and Kajun is heading to Sector Seven since the zeroth squadron is after them.

It'd be pretty hard to do that this time considering the story mode is 100 percent focused on Ragna and from his POV. If we don't play arcade mode and it's 3 acts then certain character's actions will seems very strange and random. If Mai is in like Es she'll be given an arcade mode to explain herself and probably a bit part in the main story where she meets Ragna and either fights him because she thinks he's after Noel or helps him because she remembers him from her high school days and knows he's not a badguy.

Nu is great in Netplay but nobody plays her right now. Nine can be very complicated, and when the person isn't able to get a rock, they won't know what to do since she really doesn't have a magic button that helps her win like Ragna or some other characters.

Personally I think it would devalue the things she has gone through and the changes in her life. Her position as an Observer has been replaced by Amane, and she's begun to realize who she really wants to be with and protect while giving up her powers to help him. After the whole conflict is over, she no longer has any need to have the powers she used to, and Ragna still being with her despite that would carry more weight.
