Now, I was outside earlier today trying to clear a gym.
Then BAM, thunder and lightning out of nowhere, no rain yet. I'm a fair distance from home and I forgot my umbrella so I started booking it.
As I'm hustling, my phone vibrates and there's an Electabuzz next to me.

You get a good bit from controlling gyms and I've been saving up. Only spent 10k stardust on the lapras and nothing on the others. You can't get stardust through the cash shop as far as I'm aware.

Since we already know they just used RNG to assign Ingress portals to stops and gyms in Go it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine there was a third RNG option in the equation to not be included in Go at all.
That would make sense in theory imo cus Ingress is pretty bloated but the execution is lazy like most things with this game.
