A LOT. This is my first AC, 50 hours and 33 days in, still pretty new, and luckily had a lot of friends come visit and give me fruits to plant into trees as well as drop off various rare flower hybrids. Meanwhile most of my Public Works Projects are the ones that don't count, like The Roost, Museum Shop, Club LOL, Dream Suite, etc. But that's because why the fuck would I want yellow benches or street lamps? The "starter" public works projects are so bland, and my villagers never once organically suggested a PWP, the only way I got one was today when I used the wetsuit trick to try to force one of them to give me a PWP, and it was a hideous balloon arch.

Thanks, so far the bulk of my focus has been on getting the unique shops, like Club Lol, Dream Suite, Museum Gift Shop, Kicks, Sapling Store, Shampoodle, The Roost, etc. I think all I lack is to get my Mart from 3rd stage to 5th stage, and getting the Fortune Teller Shop.
I'm really pleased with my villagers, I like 8 of the 10 of them, with one of the two moving out in 2 days. Last time I made the mistake of talking to him and despite saying "see you later," he was like "lol screw it i'm staying," so this time I'm avoiding him like the plague.
I'm just eager to be able to sit on my tree.

When you think about it Isabelle is a very misunderstood character. The issue is that people think about her as if she were a person, but she was written to be a dog. A dog will do anything to please their master, in this case the mayor. She patiently waits for you to show up, and when you do she is happy to no end. Putting up projects and doing errands for you are the tricks she does to be a good dog.
