It's time to take off the goggles, anon. My only gains on Royals come from waiting for free AP resets every 2 days and grinding on my DK. Rushing to endgame on a pre-bb server skips the vast majority of what little content it has. Bishops farming gobies and selling leech has crashed the economy so hard that cs/ws went from ~60m in 2014 to ~320m as of now.
That being said, I still love Royals, but you can't compare it to official servers or up to date pservers.

I played aries for like a week before quitting. All in all its shit and you shouldn't play it.
Its like a mix of a few actual good servers but it misses out on anything that made those servers good.
You're absolute piss week for a long ass time because you need to focus on getting drop rate gear first. Because thats always fun, using the cubes you're supposed to get stronger with on shitty lvl 100 accessories that don't give you any range and only make you need to farm more. You're options are sitting at aliens all day and farming Nameless Coins which have a shit drop rate even with 500% drop rate gear/bonuses. You need 700 of those just for a stack of red cubes, which only cost 80m. Theres no good options for actually farming mesos early on, so focusing on getting cubes is your only way. You can also do monster park to get cubes. Again you need drop rate. You also need to be a mobile class with enough damage if you want to farm remotely fast enough for it to feel productive. I'd say it takes around 10 minutes to get a stack of cubes here with full drop and a good class. You can buy other things with MP coins but that doesn't come later. The farming is piss boring for so long that it doesn't feel like you're going anywhere. You have to farm to get cubes to get drop rate. You have to farm to get cubes to sell to make money. You have to farm to get cubes to cube gear that you can't afford. You have to farm to get cubes to make money to spend on cubing fees because all the gear you need to cube is lvl 150.
The server is terribly coded as well. As mentioned earlier the server will sometimes just stop spawning mobs and bosses will stop working, you have to wait for the shitters to restart the server which could take an hour or so. The spawn is map based instead of monster based, meaning the map has a set spawn time but the monsters itself don't. Sometimes you'll clear a map and you have to wait another 10 seconds before anything even spawns. Pt 1/2

The server lacks any real content. It has one of those shitty achievement sections like Ellinia does but none of them actually engage you to do things you wouldn't already do. Events automatically run every 3 hours. Fucking 3 hours. You get 3 coins if you're lucky enough to win one of those shitty events, and you need 10 coins to get a damage skin. While setting up link skills and thing of that sort I did events on them and then was told I couldn't transfer the coins. just a minor complaint there but I like damage skins so it sucked.
Theres essentially no market like there was in Extalia, where you could do things like play the market to get your money. If you go to fm every shop is either gonna have useless gear you don't need or overpriced gear that you can't afford. Over smegas you'll just see people buying service for MP coins or bpot stamps, so just farming shit basically. Everyone also obsesses over those "hot" perm nx things like they did in extalia. Its basically the same items too. Things like Rainbow Tops, nerdy glasses, and fermata are still all the rage nowadays
Overall Aries is a shit server and people should let it die so another server can rise up and hopefully be good.

Does anyone think they'll ever bring back some sort of expedition style boss group? With what we know now of the hard damien/lotus HP it seems near impossible even without a damage cap. I think it'd be logical to allow maybe 15 or so members into a boss. Having 30 players in at once may be overkill and cause lag but I could see somewhere from 15-20 being reasonable.

It was never "in the first place" it was always like that. It just added more variation and made it less of a "you will always hit x number with attacks" kinda deal. As damage cap got hit with the addition of potentials and stuff, it's been less and less worthwhile and the mechanics they added like the highest crit multiplier being turned into max was incredibly stupid, so they just put the two together and now you just have "crit".

gameguard was just as bad and people started calling it malware for no good reason, so now they're using xigncode which is made by like 90% of the gameguard team, but is actually worse since it's essentially a rootkit. Blackcipher on top of that which is the nexon NA inhouse antihack, and is just terribly coded, since as I mentioned, it scans at random intervals, but not just for running programs against a list, but everything. It scans every process with every monster kill. even multikills, every monster kill counts, and uses up as much memory and CPU as it can to complete that task, which is why it spikes to 100% on both whenever you're grinding occasionally.

The coders probably got into a dispute with the server owner and left. The server owner has just about no negotiating power since good coders are extremely rare in the MS field, while random fags who want to create the next big PS are very common.

Also, the server has more than cwkpq coming out in open beta. Aside from the other pqs like cpq being fixed, there will be updates for classes to not only fix bugs, but help in balancing, along with more updates in the future to come along such as new bosses.

You know, with as many classes as this game has, and as end-game focused as it is, you'd think they'd wake the fuck up and realize that no one will see the new content if they don't make the journey there a bit faster. Seriously. I've been playing since 2004 off and on and I have never had a 200, ever. I get bored to death by the grind. Same thing with several other MMOs. The only one I've ever been at "end-game" for is fucking WoW. And that took me about a week from scratch, and only cause my girlfriend at the time was already rich as fuck in game.

Okay, I'm curious about AriesMS, does stuff actually /work/ there, a lot of the private servers I've seen half the fucking bosses don't spawn, 90% of the npcs just say "no function yet" and the entire server focuses around going to freemarket then hardcore grinding some bullshit off there.
Do guild skills work? Do the actual quests tend to work or do they just all insta-complete? Can you get a job normally or do you wind up just using commands to accomplish half the regular maple stuff? It gets a bit exhausting playing private servers, doing hours of grinding only to find that half the features of the game don't seem to work at all.

Play and do something on MS2 during the event period, get the cash pack on MS1. It's the same as the original, without the pet. You also have to do something on MS1 but I think it's just hit level 100 or something simple like that, for MS2 I think it's hit level 50 since that's the old cap.
And nah I don't have any info on any MS2 stuff, sorry. I stopped playing it forever ago, it really wasn't suited to my tastes. They raised the level cap to 99, for whatever that's worth, they blew their load again, so to speak, and now it's gonna be another full year with almost 0 content for players, though I think they really fucked up with following the same patch schedule as MS1. They could have done march/sept major patch drops and they'd have a nice ebb and flow of players instead of this fucked up mess where the games are competing with one another and maple1 just took a huge shit all over the playerbase of 2 with fifth job.
Even at midnight it's hard to find an empty map to train in, in MS1, for instance. When all the little kiddies who's parents don't love them enough to turn it off get cockblocked by the midnight ban.
