The card system is literally just the rarity and card crafting system of hearthstone or any other online CCG painted over the generic call of duty-esque perk system of player customization. Slap that ontop of le hue hue quirky tf2/overwatch unique character roster and you have an unoriginal shit game that will never leave beta because it offers absolutely nothing new in terms of gameplay.

Anon speciality cards only really changed where you got your extra damage. I think they add tons of depth; Cassie can be built as a sort of lone wolf with a bunch of rolling, support with CC and a damage buff on her ult, or go for max sustain.
From an enemy's standpoint, that's several different things to watch out for and greatly raises the skill ceiling. Especially since this stuff switches before rounds. Overwatch's closest thing to that is switching characters.
Comparatively, Smite's 3rd person view means you can't see stuff behind you. Definitely big difference but it doesn't usually change a character's playstyle like using a different item build does, and it's always that one static mechanical difference.
