I'd recommend it. The battle system isn't anything new, but the character interaction and humor are good, and so is the music.
You know those games that give you that certain feeling, like it feels like it's older than it is? It came out this year, yet it feels like it's something that could've come out years ago. The feeling's hard to explain, but it feels pleasant.
My first playthrough was about three hours, but if you want to find all the five collectables on your own to get the true endings, it'll probably take more time.

I legitimately love Manny Pardo's character. At first glance he seems like a cliched loose cannon cop but in reality he's batshit insane and tries to parody action movies he's watched and insert himself as a gruff detective. He awkwardly tries to sweet-talk every female he comes across and spews unfitting one-liners at his colleagues while trying desperately to prove who the real killer in town is. He seems to be the only character without military training, yet has one of the highest kill counts out of all of them.
Just image this: It's a tragic scene. Tony's holding a bleeding out Corey in his arms while she says his name over and over, Tony choking back tears while trying to comfort her. As she expires, Pardo kicks down the door, mutter something about him being a fame-seeking thug, and splatters his brains all over the wall. Pardo then walks over to the SWAT chief and brags about it while he remains silent and angrily glares at him.
Even his arc's ending is original. It's Pardo's delusional fantasy about fighting his way through a police station, bullets and blood flying everywhere. In reality, he's holing himself up, backing down after he thinks the police have figured him out and his cardboard ego comes crumbling down.

true story I would enjoyed Gone Home completely if the story with the little sister didn't narrate as Bioshock logs (which the developer had worked on). If I had to uncover it through exploration like the other stories that would have been a master stroke.
I think what it comes down to devs being afraid of not having a "main" string to tie the game around, which is a problem. That was my big problem with Bloodborne in that there main plot wasn't strong enough to tie the whole game together.

What build? I made a psy guy investing into the various psychic schools, and then put everything else into persuasion, stealth, and sneaky stuff like picklocketing and lockpicking.
