Tigrex, Nargacuga, Rathian, Rathalos (With plenty of flashbombs) Hermitaur and Ceanataur are both a pleasure to fight with Hammer, Blangonga, Rajang if you like pain, Kut-ku, and I'm probably missing a few others I don't mind fighting.
Other than those, Gen1+2 are just full of garbage like Gravios, Basarios, Gypceros, Dromes, Plesioth, Shen "Please end this hunt already" Gaoren, Lao Shan Lung, Congalala and more.

When you run out, you switch depending on your weapon. For instance, I'm using the Destiny's Arm, which can crouch Pierce 3, so I keep it for traps/mounts etc when I can siege it.

Can someone with more experience in these games explain something to me? What advantages does the gunlance have over the lance? It seems like the lance is more mobile and has a more versatile moveset, while doing basically the same amount of damage as the gunlance. Shelling doesn't seem any better than just poking shit. Wyverns fire is cool, it's nice having a large burst damage move, but I think I'd much rather be able to counter than have wyverns fire. Maybe it's just my playstyle, but gunlance seems like it sacrifices a lot just to have wyverns fire.
I'm not trying to shit on the GL, I'm sincerely curious about the pros and cons of both weapons.
I'm playing mhp3rd if that matters.

There's some weird complicated fuckery. Essentially you divide your elemental damage by 10, then multiply it by the sharpness multiplier and the effectiveness (hitzone) of the attack, then add it to the calculated raw damage to get your final damage output.
I think this is how it goes for a full damage calculation:

Okay I'm starting to get upset now, I don't fucking get what the game wants me to do to this stupid fucking brachydios piece of shit. No other monster so far has been nearly as ridiculous as this, the second he turns yellow I literally can't do a single thing without eating an explosion that I can't seem to dodge no matter how I adjust the timing,

It took me ten minutes to kill Brachydios, but I can kill Rathalos in like seven, and Rathian goes down in almost four.
I hate Brachydios, he's definitely the hardest thing in the game so far, but only because his explosions are bullshit.
