When Daigo does a tatsu on his opponent's wakeup, is he mitigating the risk by expecting his opponent to either backdash, jump, or crouch?

The idea of a game like Smash Bros being played at higher level is always funny to me. I always saw Smash as a party game more than a fighting game for its nature. It doesn't follow any of the structures made by actual fighting games, its intention is to be a cheerful party game to be played with friend, but not like that. I mean, I don't deny there may be some tech behind it that could shift the meta of the game, but just at the look of it never struck me as a serious fighting game. No wonder why the high level players are such creeps. It's like the anti-thesis of the FGC.

Good keep out will beat people trying to get in but you risk getting whiff punished. When your opponent is trying to bait keep out options you get to go in and start your offense.
The input to go into BOK is f+3~d. If Leo gets switched out it means you didn't get the stance transition so try it with different timings.

the neutral is based pretty heavily on just playing the poke-counterpoke-whiff punish game. you can play it reactionary/defensively or make reads and play aggressive. lots of gameplans work well and are rewarded, but none work without solid movement.
that's pretty much the basis of the game. don't get lost just grinding the execution side of movement, but instead think more crticially about where you want to be on screen, what sort of movement you should be doing to bait your opponent into whiffing, which way you should be sidestepping vs a specific character/player, what your character's options are at that range and how valuable are they including stuff like dash jabs, etc. that stuff will help you MUCH more when starting out. backdash cancelling is literally the last thing you need in terms of movement; just hold back while backdashing to block. but if you like grinding it out in the lab, by all means.

Neutral game in Tekken is just like most fighting games. You got two options. Keep applying pressure with your safe pokes (10f to 12f punishes/pokes) and follow it up with something like a mixup like side step into a generic 2 1 1 or 1 1 or a delayed hop kick. The other option is to backstep at your safe distance and bait the other opponent to whiff something and go in for a launcher or a throw.
Tekken neutral game is more mind games than actual tech since the better route is to let your opponent fuck up rather than you trying to mix up (since low's pretty much don't exist in Tekken)

Setups that have high/low like Zato's drill + jump attack are not real unblockables because technically if you can switch your block in 1 frame you can block them, but that's so hard they are basically unblockable.
Other unblockabbles use actually unblockable setups like Johnny mist finer and elphelt sniper other than gambling on getting a blitz on wake up, because if you block you're done for.
