"other players"

as in ALL participants of the case?
>>
>>146615598
Depends on the general situation, here's how this would be usually carried out: If a player is playing both defense and witness 1, and a mod learns of that or that player is exposed by others, then a mod will ask other players if they are okay with that playing performing both the lead defense and the witness 1 roles. If most people are okay with it, then it is not considered breaking the rules since that player has the permission of others. If the majority doesn't agree with it, the player is requested to drop one of the two roles. There can be heavier sanctions to repeated offenders

You realize that Lana being complicit with Gant likely got several innocent people convicted, and directly resulted in Goodman's death, right?

Mia wasn't responsible for Terry's death, and she didn't use unlawful tactics to get them behind bars. That's why in AA1 she and Greg are the most highly regarded Defense Attorneys.

In my opinion it is "okay" and no better.

The best parts are actually when they decide to change things up, but for the most part it is "here's the game, but rushed and animated".

It's not BAD, it is just not super stellar either. It gets a bit better after the first few episodes, but if you watch them and think it needs a DRAMATIC improvement, it won't be enough.

Ideas for fixing music bloat in AO and some ideas and guidelines for the new client.

Two official tracks per AA character, one fan picked track if there are no official tracks and one track for nonAA characters (unique tracks have priority over remixes).
One track per game per category, counting non AA games.
General ___ people tracks have their own category. Not bound by the one track per game rule due to being so general.
Split questioning into two categories, Allegro and Moderato.
Move Note Logic and Death Logic into questioning.
Remove meme music and Miscallaneous, properly sort music that doesn't belong in Misc, like Ghost Trick tracks.
Gimmick category, one track per gimmick unless it's a more complex gimmick and the tracks are different enough, but two at max. Example, Joint Reasoning A and C.
Fix looping, some tracks don't even loop.

Ideas for new client functions

Jukebox has buttons that search for tracks in your music folder, regardless of extension. Example, "Investigation AA (Core)" will search for that track in the music folder and play it.
Drop down menus, ability to hide categories.

If you think we'll start on the new client with all the content we have now, you're awfully mistaken.
We need basic guidelines for starting out again.
And good job on you for looking over the client functions too, nice selective reading.
And we should do the same in AO, seeing as we already get bloat complaints and new people are turned away by file size

That's the least of our problems. Having to dedicate 8+ hours to the case is what people are worried about.

When are we adding Sans the Skeleton to AO?
>>
We should implement a quality control council made out of a few members, including mods and regular users.
The deal would be that your stuff wouldn't get polled before passing a quality control check.
The rules would be much more strictly enforced like this and we wouldn't have shitty content.
The process of content addition would then be as follows:
Quality control council>Strawpoll>Lupadim for completely new content
Quality control council>Lupadim for additions to existing content (this would prevent things like half of Adachi's sprites not having lip flaps)

If the detective is competent, he won't have any contradictions.
And if you want the CE thrown out, detectives would have to write a lot more shit ahead of time.
Besides, detective CEs actually help witnesses with defining their testimonies.
>>
>>146657813
>this is the least of our problems, having to dedicate 8+ hours to the case are what people are worried about
Actually people are worried about both, just someone's actually willing to discuss the solution with the first one for once.
You're free to discuss how to lower duration of cases again and decide whether you want memes or not or what the fuck you do, (as >>146659053 asked, Suggestions?)
but both are major turnoffs for new players, thus we should eliminate it the best we can by removing unused music and limit what we can have, thinking ahead for the future.

>>
>>146661285
It's an extra shield because Lupa at times doesn't proofread, it also prevents people from growing attached to characters in the polls that then get denied because of their poor quality.

>>146661518

They aren't.
This is what the quality council would prevent.
>>
>>146661518
It's kind of convoluted, but basically they were in PXZ, a crossover game with Phoenix and Maya in it, and Lupa's argument was that they fit AAI artstyle.
This is of course subjective to him and a couple of others, therefore a council to set that sort of argument straight would help.
>>
>>146661585
Them being in isn't the problem, its that other characters have been kept out for questionable reasons.
>>
>>146661672
Which ones are you referring to?
Reminder that a lot of denied things are because of democracy, although I don't think we can every convince Lupa to add Kirby due to it's past history of having been sneaked into an update
>>
>>146661672

What do you mean?
>>
>>146661774
Some things were flat out denied like that one guy making Dante and someone else, I can't seem to remember.
>>
>>146661907
Dante was argued not to fit, as his sprites would look too out of place according to Lupa, due to the realistic assets of the jacket.
Also because people preferred Klavier reskin of Dante, which by the way the guy who was fiddling with that disappeared
>>
>>146662069
Which makes no sense since inferno cop, DR, and the FE characters are as far if not further away from AA's style.
>>
>>146662460

As said earlier, the quality control council would prevent things like this in the future, especially stuff like Inferno Cop.
>>
>>146662460
>Inferno Cop
Like Lewdton, Inferno Cop is meant to be a joke character with low quality (Reason why we still have Paper Barok and Giant Barok in the game)
>DR
Apparently gets away with it because "faintly similar" and has to do with crimesolving, mystery and the like.
>FE
LIke I said, argued to be AA Investigations style, and provides a variety of characters that fits Barnham and other Layton characters' medieval theme.
>>
>>146662625
So I could potentially get Megaman X into the game?
>Its meant to be """"bad"""" so its allowed
I guess I just don't get it.
>>
>>146662734
It doesn't exactly work like that.
Inferno Cop also has to do with the law, so he gets a pass. Beside the fact that this is a 4chan server so we have to let loose once in a while and have a character to plain fuck around with.
>>
>>146662734
Also to add onto >>146662848 I wouldn't stop you if you found good sprites for him, I wouldn't call it a joke character though, it would go under the variety argument, of being able to create differently varied RP
>>
>>146662734

Chrom and Lucina fit with Barnham and other characters as stated by >>146662625 and allows for thematic cases.
MegaMan X however, fits none of the rules and would contribute nothing.
>>
>>146662848
>>146662964
Megaman X is technically an investigator/cop, being a Maverick Hunter.
>>
>>146662964
Also, from what you are saying, is "relating to cases" a rule or a suggestion? Because as it stands it seems more like a suggestion than anything.
>>
>>146662848
>>146662625
And this is why I frown on the idea of a "council" of players to decide quality control.

If we leave it up to Lupa, it's arbitrary but only one person.

If we leave it to a team, they can be complete irrational faggots and vote no on everything they dislike such as 'anime' and 'oc'
>>
>>146663162
That's why it would have to be a team of people who aren't idiotic fuckwads.
>>
>>146663210
Impossible.
>>
>>146663162
I know this is 4chan we're talking about, but I'm sure at least mods would be unbiased about it, and if people vote no, I'm sure they'd have to argue their case on why it isn't quality. (And likewise with the opposite)
>>
>>146663107

I said they would allow for thematic cases and fit in with things such as Barnham.
The rule is relating to law, but let's work with what we have already now.

>>146663162

Team of people, comprised of mods and regular users, who decide if the content fits the rules and passes quality controls.
The community itself then decides on whether or not they want anime or oc through polling.

Me here, yes, I do argue that as they've yet to be denied for that reason and it doesn't say anything in the rules about the topic, while they were supposed to see if it coincides with the rules or not.
In my opinion a semibadly ripped character is better than no character (so Robin, although she has some static is acceptable). It does get kind of foggy when you reach 3D Trucy/Nuclear Apollo/PaperBarok/GiantBarok levels of bad ripping, but people are able to use them for a laugh every once in a while.
I will admit there's almost no excuse to add bad rips nowadays since quality has upped though, unless it is for jokes to be had.

That was on accident I believe. At least Lupa was like "shit" when I told him about Life is Beautiful

OBJECTION!

(Joint Reasoning plays)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aS3pDg9gUlI

Heh... For one second, I thought you were serious, but it seems you are just another shitposter...

Hmm? Surprised? Want to know how I know that? Very well, I'll share.

TOPIC 1: THE REMOVED SONGS
What you said about only two songs being removed... Is a lie.

There were actually more. Sasha's theme, Life is Beautiful, the two SoJ investigation themes and SoJ Thought Route.

CONCLUSION: Five songs were removed after the last update.

TOPIC 2: WHY WERE THEY REMOVED
Now this is interesting. You say that Lupadim removed them out of free will, without consulting the community, because he is a tyrant...

BUT THAT IS WRONG!

If you will pay attention, you will realize that, in actuality, all those songs were included in the latest update!

In fact, what really happened is that he committed a mistake when updating the music list and used an outdated one. Thus, the songs from the last update were removed.

What about Sasha's theme, you might be wondering? Her theme wasn't added in the last update. Yes, true.

However! It was added to the MUSIC LIST in the last update! You will recall all the people complaining about how her theme wasn't in the music list! This proves that he just committed a mistake when updating the music list!

CONCLUSION: Lupadim is not a asshole that removed songs to spite us, he just messed up!

TOPIC 3: THE COUNCIL CAN SAVE EVERYONE
You say that the council would avoid mistakes such as this music list?

WRONG!

The mistake with the music list was done when updating the server files. The council would make absolutely ZERO difference at this!

CONCLUSION: The council is useless and not needed.

Elementary ~

This one I had to fudge the numbers on a bit, since most of the "Other" votes could have fit in the established categories, but had some extra information about them. I counted those votes as the appropriate non-other vote, and changed the statistics to match

Played AO before - 2 (4.1%)
Personally recommended - 3 (6.1%)
The original /v/ threads - 26 (53.1%)
The /vg/ general - 12 (originally 11) (24.5%)
/v/eekends - 3 (6.1%)
From streams/videos - 2 (originally 1) (4.1%)
Other - 1 (originally 3) (2%)

I did not lie, I merely reporting which songs I noticed were removed.

Nobody made that claim. They claimed erroneously added and removed content, such as L and Kreiger wouldn't slip through if we had a council other than just Lupa.
>>
>>146671591
The council wasn't for removing things at all so I don't even know what you 2 are blabbering about now.
It's about making sure content is up to the standards of the rules before polled through the rest of the community

>>
>>146672149
Why does it take more than one person to do that? Stuff is constantly being rejected for not following the rules. Try and bring a group into that equation and opinions are going to pollute it.
>>
>>146672078
The fact you think Lupadim, the most calm and democratic game admin I've ever seen, removed those songs to spite us shows that the only reason you want this is because you don't like him or you don't trust him for entirely flawed reasons. Knowing him, 90% of it is probably his own fuck-up, like when he added that Flinstones song.
>>
>>146672271

The point is that it wouldn't be a consistent group, but a randomized one.

You're right, at least he's only incompetent and not corrupt, but people were putting into the original poster's mouth that he said Lupa was corrupt.
They were offering the council because they realize Lupa is human and making mistakes is human, and therefore having a recycled group of people check if the content is alright would be nice

Here's the results for the question of how often people visit the server. Not much to say about it.

1-2 days - 32 (65.3%)
3-5 days - 11 (22.4%)
Weekly - 1 (2%)
2-3 Weeks - 1 (2%)
Montly - 1 (2%)
Less than once a month - 3 (6.1%)

Also, if people would like a cross-section of any two questions, please let me know and I'll make that for the next result
