This might come off as weird and random but I was thinking of writing a Goosebumps-styled story of FNAF seeing the recent news of a book series.

I want to make this story as Goosebumps as possible so what should I put in?

It's already in the POV of the main kid but what are the other attributes of a Goosebumps book?
>>
>>146590086
No explicit gore, for one. Good luck with that one, Edgelord.

These might help. One thing I've learned from reading Goosebumps as an adult is that R.L. Stine often padded out chapters with unnecessary clutter. Characters repeat dialogue. The kids are distracted by some random thought or event. Sudden twists appear which are immediately revealed to be fake-outs. Those sort of things.

Okay, here is a sneak peek of my second FNAF related story. It's called No Strings on Me (A.K.A if FNAF was a Goosebumps story). Reader Beware etc. etc.

>I had no idea what my little sister saw in that puppet but it was her favorite, the plush toy of it was the first one she ever got and she even went as it for Halloween last year, a girl version of it with a dress but you get my point. She would always be near it too, The Marionette was stationed at the prize corner and would hand-in prized for tickets in return, even if she doesn't have any tickets she would go there and talk to it, as if it would actually talk back, she actually got in trouble for holding up the line once which is why she's now only allowed to go there if she was turning in tickets. Like I said, she was obsessed with it for reasons only heaven knows. The Marionette was the definition of nightmare fuel, it's black leathery skin was almost scale-like, it was the same stuff those jackets greaser's wear were made out of, it's painted clown-like face with those silver eyes deep in it's sockets made it look like it was wearing a mask and that voice... holy cow that horrible voice. It was so... sardonic and it had an echo, a freaking echo!

Tell me if it's Goosebumpsy enough so far.

>>

I would say it depends on the pic or story he's featured in.
Like maybe if it was him in the process of being sprung or right after he jiggled the springlock, got sproinged and is just a barely twitching body on the ground.
If he's shown as the rotten rabbit people know and love shambling around then no.
Gore isn't my thing so I personally have no idea and am just throwing thoughts around.

I've decided to show another sneak peek of my story and what I have so far, this is a scene where the main kid is spying on two employees at Freddy Fazbear's. Reader Beware, your in for a scare!

>"Don't tell me to calm down Vince, we used to make at least ten times that amount, we are LOSING money. I thought that stupid cartoon show would be making us some money but that studio is losing profits too, The animators are striking for crying out loud!" The man said as he spun around in his chair, pinching his nose. "It's because of everything that's been happening to this company, I swear it's like God himself is conspiring against us, first it was that incident with that kid at the original location, that poor kid got his head crushed like a grape by the Fredbear animatronic, I'm surprised we even managed to get off the ground after that!".

>My eyes widened in horror hearing this, someone died at this "original location" when did that even happen? I wanted to run away and tell my parents but my morbid curiosity made me stay where I was and told me to continue listening in.

>"Well, first of all that wasn't even the company's fault, some worthless punks shoved him in Fredbear's mouth thinking it would be funny plus by the time that happened the other locations were being opened, besides the kid's alive ain't he?" Vincent said with not a lot of concern for this kid.

>"Well yeah, but he's in a coma now!". The man named Scott said turning back to Vincent. "Doctor's said he's missing his frontal lobe... whatever that is." I rolled my eyes, really dude? I was ten years old and I knew what a frontal lobe was, it's the part of the brain that determines rational thought and some other junk.

It's rough being Oracle. She takes great pride in her skill as a mechanic, having done so for Them for a long time and getting to put those skills to good use with helping maintain FazScare's. So it gets really old really quickly when the valued customers keep mistaking you for a Scarer.

Or just stare at your ass. Same difference.

She's perfectly fine with Phillip or the crew getting an eyeful of her. It's almost flattering seeing humans getting hot under the collar over a sculpted robotic body like her own. She's well aware she was built with prominent t&a factor.

It's when she gets called to do work in the halls when a light shorts out or a vent isn't working right during scare hours and all the drunk teenagers start hassling her that she gets annoyed. She's a qualified mechanic dammit, not a Scarer and not a hussy.

>>146605409
Someone already did that, though. I like to tease ideas and encourage thirst and see if other people are able to get thirsty enough to take swings at it instead for the most part. Most of the PhilOracle fics out there are FAR better than what I could write of the two anyways.Saying NOTHING of all the extremely good art BB and Snax have done involving lewd Unit .2's and Oracle.

This. I did write some Oracle and Phillip smut on request, as well as Unit .2 on Phillip on request at one point, but I didn't finish either and it just felt forced and awkward. I know people love the idea of Phillip and Oracle hooking up, I do too oddly enough, but the reality is in the whole quest, the most romantic thing they did together was hug, and that was AFTER Oracle died and tensions were highest. I can't imagine Phillip being a robophile, and even more importantly, after the events of GhostQuest, it's hard to imagine him opening up or trusting anyone to get into a relationship, beyond that Oracle is a very flat character. In the quest that was fine, since a lot of things, like survival and solving puzzles were being balanced into the equation, so not every character needed to be perfectly fleshed out (there's a pun in there somewhere), but now that Phil and Oracle live on in story, I have to expand on both of them. Phil is easy, but Oracle... I've spent a long time writing sketches and history lineups on Oracle, relationship charts, that sort of thing. I think I finally got her to a point of being relevant in Dust Bunny (fucking finally) but it was an issue for a while.

I could make some really lazy forced smut like I did with Samantha/Freddy gore-fucking the guard at some point, but it would almost certainly not be canon.

New Management, Burlesque, and even Roomates aren't really SoLs, as they feature actual character development and cohesive plot arcs.

New Management and Burlesque are roboromances with their own secondary plots:
In NM, it revolves around Bonnie's character development.
In Burlesque, it revolves around the whole mafia thing.

As for Roomates, it is, if anything, a mystery novella with generous amounts of buildup in the form of SoL.
And that's a good thing. Slice of Life, by itself, is pure trash.

Well, as long as we're talking about personal taste, allow me to drop my hot, hot opinions.
I just don't enjoy stories that don't go, you know, somewhere, be that somewhere a lovely romance, hardcore fucking, or grisly murder.
I just think standard plot structure is a nice guideline, no matter the genre the story is.
Buildup, climax, denouement, that good shit's present in all great stories.

It was the Jeremy Human and Mike's Humanity plots that drove me back into the fic, after I lost all my hype when you said Roommates wouldn't be a waifu story, as you implied lemons were of intrinsically lesser quality than other kinds of fanfics.

I mean, I've got to say I'm not too sure about where's the story going, with how you said you're going to continue the fic after those plots are resolved.
I just don't see how those can be properly resolved without ending the story with them, or, at least, how they can be resolved without making it feel like New Management past "The next Sunday" (i.e. wholly unnecessary).
That, coupled with your disrespect for your own work, and your taste for Slice of Lifes, makes me downright worried.

But hey, you're the royal scribe. You've fully convinced me that you know what you're doing, with your latest chapters. So please don't fuck it all up.

>>
>>146637434
You can mix everything in except the sauce. Otherwise it won't bake properly, you'll have more of a batter than a dough. Granted I wouldn't recommend doing that anyways because it'll probably fuck with the baking.

>I just don't enjoy stories that don't go, you know, somewhere, be that somewhere a lovely romance, hardcore fucking, or grisly murder.
I agree that the elements you mentioned are absolutely necessary for a story. I think you and I may actually even share the same sentiment and we're just defining it differently.

To me, slice-of-life is observing characters in a story struggling against or thriving in the day-to-day cares of the world, where conflict is more likely to involve the story's cast overcoming realistic circumstances and misfortunes the average person can relate to instead of fighting a villain in his evil mountain lab while shooting at each other with futuristic laser beam guns.

Then again, almost every character in my stories is an anthropomorphic animal or a robot, so take my ideas about "realism" with a grain of salt.

>Buildup, climax, denouement, that good shit's present in all great stories.
Again, I think slice-of-life can have those elements. Slice-of-life doesn't always HAVE to be a "story about nothing".

>It was the Jeremy Human and Mike's Humanity plots that drove me back into the fic, after I lost all my hype when you said Roommates wouldn't be a waifu story, as you implied lemons were of intrinsically lesser quality than other kinds of fanfics.
That's putting words in my mouth. I never intended to imply that lemons are some substandard product, nor do I look down on anyone who writes them. I'm certainly nobody to judge.

What I said then I still mean today: speaking strictly for myself and nobody else, I would not enjoy writing a wish fulfillment fapfic where a poorly-defined, faceless sert beds as many characters as he can. That's not what Roommates has EVER been about, even from day one. I would personally see no "buildup, climax, or denouement" (to use your own words) in that type of story. Okay, maybe climaxing.
My point is if I wouldn't enjoy writing a story I wouldn't expect anyone to enjoy reading it.

>I mean, I've got to say I'm not too sure about where's the story going, with how you said you're going to continue the fic after those plots are resolved.
I find that encouraging; that means that I'm doing a good job keeping my cards close to the vest. I don't want to write something that's blandly predictable, but I don't want to have to resort to knee-jerk plot twists to keep the audience guessing until the absolute end.

>That, coupled with your disrespect for your own work
Hey now! I do like my story and I like the folks I write it for. If I didn't, do you honestly think I'd have stuck around this long working diligently on keeping it regularly updated?

Just this week alone I've probably logged close to fifteen or twenty hours writing and re-writing Chapter 31 and hammering plot details out with Weaver as well as going back and re-reading previous chapters to make sure even the tiniest lines of dialogue or throwaway commentary lines up as neatly as I can manage. I'm an amateur writer and I know my limits, but I sure as hell don't disrespect my work because it was NEVER exclusively my own -- everyone involved has put their time and effort in: from the comments and critique I've gotten, to the anons that voted in the strawpolls early on to determine apartment setting order, to the title cards and feedback from Weaver who came up with the original premise and characters, to the fanart I've received.

For a silly little apartment story about a guy and his animal roommates, it's become a project that's far bigger than I ever expected. It's humbling and flattering and I love writing it.

>But hey, you're the royal scribe. You've fully convinced me that you know what you're doing, with your latest chapters. So please don't fuck it all up.
I legit appreciate the vote of confidence! Believe me when I say I plan on keeping it together.

>that slice of life definition
Then it was one big misunderstanding, after all. You're using it to express that your story is more down-to-earth, realistic. Not really a genre, but more of an adjective.
For me, SoL is defined by what anime made it to be: Same protagonists at the same locations, getting into different silly situations every episode, but with no real character development or a plot arc.
Basically a sitcom, except shit. But I'm sure you already knew this, in a sense.

But you, you grabbed this, and stuck a plot and character development on it.
So we end up with an interesting story which is filled with flavor, interesting events and good characterization so basically, we simply end up with a good story, really..

As for "realism", I get what you mean. It's realism in more of a "believability" sense.

>That's putting words in my mouth. I never intended to imply that lemons are some substandard product
>What I said then I still mean today: speaking strictly for myself and nobody else, I would not enjoy writing a wish fulfillment fapfic where a poorly-defined, faceless sert beds as many characters as he can.
>That's not what Roommates has EVER been about, even from day one.
Then I misunderstood. Again. Fuck.
Wouldn't it have been easier to just say "I would not enjoy writing a shitty story"?

>I would not enjoy writing a wish fulfillment fapfic where a poorly-defined, faceless sert beds as many characters as he can.

Yep, I totally agree with the points you're making about samey/bland SoL and I had a feeling I knew what you were referencing even before you mentioned it. We're on the same page now.

>Wouldn't it have been easier to just say "I would not enjoy writing a shitty story"?
Absolutely and I probably should have just said that with those exact words. Taste is subjective, though; one man's trash is another man's treasure and so on.

Plus if I'm remembering the conversation right, sex in Roommates itself was what was being discussed when my comments (about it not being a lemon) came up the first time, so I felt the need to address that specific point in that specific way.

>Know that your little story is probably my favorite, out of all of those ever made here. That's a shitload. Thank you.
Thank you as well, anon. That means a lot to me, and I'm glad you dig it.

>Does that mean it would be reasonable to expect a well-defined, faced protagonist to bed a single character, if it made sense within the story, maybe?
I'd say that's a completely reasonable expectation to have.
Part of why I said it wasn't a lemon is because I can't see a character like Mike -- even with his idiosyncrasies and his lapses in judgment -- being the sort of guy to go full polyamorous. It's just not in his character; he seems like the type that would prefer a lasting long-term relationship to brief, fleeting pleasure with people he'd still have to see and interact with on a regular basis. He has too much respect for his friends and roommates even if he's not perfect at dealing with them.

Harlequin Baby. It's a pretty morbid joke for Scott to make, really. Desolate Hope was about the fragility of infancy, and he wasn't happy when one of the merchandising companies had a Russian Roulette joke.

I'm not entirely sure if he'll go all the way with the "Harlequin Baby" motif, but it'd be very interesting if he did. With the robot being possessed by an actual infant that died of natural causes and was forced back to life by being placed into this machine. Either by a Puppet, or by the Afton Robotics company.
