The difference is you need to open Cock turn 1 to do it... but the engine is less bricky. You can also use Cupidity without banishing your important one-ofs (Except Pseudo Space)

I'm not saying you can't add LIGHT monsters to make Brilliant Fusion work, I'm saying it makes the engine unreliable because you're forcing cards without any inherent synergy with the Crystron monsters into the deck.
In LIGHT focused decks, Brilliant Fusion is a 4/5 cards engine. By adding unnecessary LIGHT monsters, you're making it a 6/7 cards engine, which is too bricky in a deck as inconsistent as Crystrons.
