When did back dash canceling become so important in Tekken? I remember in the Tekken 4 days, players stayed relatively close to each other. Not like in ttt2 where you would see both players back up to the ends of the stage at the start of the round. I really first noticed people using the back dash cancel more in Tekken 6

Well there's a reason people call it Korean Back Dash sometimes. Most of the tech you see in Tekken today mostly developed in T5 DR and T6. Until then, Tekken was played really different. People actually baby stepped backwards a lot more and side stepping was a heavier focus than today. Most top players would side step and punish more than back up and wait for the opponent to whiff.

but the idea is that it's a scare tactic and it punishes bad teching on oki. against the wall, they can't backroll out of the poor range, and you don't have to hard read them backrolling, so it becomes super scary; if they lay on the ground, it's still free damage for you anyway, so oki is a win-win if you use taunt properly and end combos for oki.
but if it keeps you practicing and you have some fun figuring shit out with it, by all means, practice taunt jet upper for 2 years before you can get it to 90% consistency.

We often complain about SFV lacking of characters that go against the politically correct idea of footsies and more grounded playstyle, but when we have the moment to notice that there are actually some characters that defy that playstyle we complain about them too.

It's our hypocritical attitude towards this game design that makes us very unaccepting of changes rather than welcoming. After all, SF is just a fighting game. Every rule we make out of it it's just our inner autism pretending to be fact and stronger than others. It's the beauty of life as well, fucking variety. I'm using a stock hayabusa right now. I feel like I prefer the looser movement for anime games but the tighter spring jlf worked great when I was playing Balrog in sf4 and doing a lot of rush upper loops but not much dashing in and out.

So with a combo like:

Is there a trick to getting the 623K4 to come out after the 2HS? It doesn't seem to buffer. Do I just have to do it really fast after the 2HS is over? Im also a pad player so maybe its just plain fucking hard to do.
