To add onto this, there are already whales, Cygames is big in Japan, and we're getting content some time in August. That's really going to make the decision for most people, probably.
For now, try it, and reroll. It's fucking easy and some classess don't require legendaries so if you want to say said deck, you can scrap them. (You still have missions to win as other classes though, just like in HS.)

The game itself is decent.
If you're a f2p player, then it's a bit lacking. You do not get the daily gold like you do in HS, which is already pretty pitiful, and the 'arena' is not going to be implemented until August. Without spending money, you're realistically looking at one not-even-ideal deck for a while.

The translation really changes the personality and story of some characters. You don't notice it with the original English voices but it becomes really noticeable with Japanese audio and long lines become two words or something completely different.
Granblue fantasy translation was actually pretty nice if you leave out the fact they fucked with almost every name in game so I have no idea why they decided to go with this in Shadowverse.

The highest ranking Blood player just plays all-out aggro. It seems strictly worse than Shadow/Sword, but it's probably making the best out of a bad class.
Dragon is relatively "slow", but it has drops from 1-10 so it can easily contest if you hit turns 1-4. Rune is pretty slow and does ok but can be hit or miss; it just turtles with spells until it can crank out threats and Space Dimension OTK. Haven is, for obvious reasons, hit or miss and perhaps doesn't see as much success because of it.
Like all the other recent HS-type games, curving out is extremely important.

Usually it can trade up if you evolve it on turn 4. If it trades twice then it's drawing two cards and taking two resources from your opponent, ie a 4-for-1. It thins your deck out to draw more Merlins/your win conditions as well. On top of that it also boosts the shit out of your hand. It is one of the strongest cards in the game.
Even if it has to end up trading into a 4 attack minion, evolving it is still drawing a card and trading up.

Just spamming Fairie cyclers seems unimpactful unless you have something to back them up, and things like Magma Botanist/Forest Giant don't qualify. This is why I think you need something like Archer/Ancient Elf to have any success at playing this deck - which is still less than impressive. Again, I think Sword/Shadow are much better at this type of thing, but if you find it fun or it works for you, go for it.

Bane is barely even that good. Spectre is the only one that's half decent, and even then it's not stapled because 2 mana for a 2/1 dies to every one drop.
Evolving a Spectre to crash it in is using up a card and a resource. Every class should have some way of dealing with it easily and gaining card advantage (that's not to say you'll always draw it) or you're playing the wrong cards.

I would say it's Shadow's most important card - more important than Cerebus or Pluto. I can barely win games when I don't draw it. You might not need the full set, and having two leaves you open to opening another in the future. But if I didn't have any I'd probably just be playing Sword instead.

All I know is you definitely want 3 Lightning Shooters, you want 3 Merlins (legendary) and likely 3 Fire Chains (golden) as it's your most reliable form of AoE. It's not a cheap deck to craft.

If you have two Merlins you might be fine. Rune struggles against early rush decks and Fire Chains seems like your best answer. You can try things like Alchemical Lore and Wind Blasts, but it might not be pretty.

Hadn't rolled anything since the starting gacha and I didn't have any decent swords besides Laevateinn and a 4* Phoenix Rider Masamune so I figured the hell with it, I'll roll a little bit in the sword gacha. First roll was a second Mjolnir, and this time a dex. Though she's already a 5 star, so I don't know if that means the evolve bonus stats on my current balance type are going to be lost when I use her to LB the new one.
Next step was all 3*, all max 4* and none a sword. I would have stopped right there if the last step was a full 10 roll. Durandal and Kusanagi are both dex, too. I got Momotaro and Alice in my first rolls in Grimms Notes but I dropped it.
I like the art and the general setting but I'm really turned off by the fact that even the highest rarity units are 'generic'. E.g. they have generic movesets of their weapon class, generic 'super skill' animation which is present even among some lower rarity ones, common switchskill etc. That's just lazy. Is it still the same right now? I know FGO started out with every class having a generic animation for busters/arts/quicks. But know every new servant comes with unique set of animations. It only feels bad that they don't update the core servants.

Except havencraft and bloodcraft. Bloodcraft is more noticeable since you can't control your own deck mechanic that well, not to mention it's terrible. Being forced to play under 10 health leaves you open so badly.
I think havencraft could be fine if skullfane was 6 cost again to better facilitate combos, at least they're board clear is kinda nice but it's also pretty expensive.
Zombies need to be 1/1, not 2/2.

Speaking of which, I found lyndis' Runecraft combo deck. He had some rank 1 finishes in HS. He's mainly a Dragon main, but it's interesting. He ended up dropping Lightning Shooters for Rune Blade Summoners and comboing out 20/20s and then Dimension Shifting.

I'm not the biggest fan of the evolve mechanic, but it's not that bad. First player still has initiative. It's imperative that he curves out better turns 1-4, otherwise you throw away that advantage.
Turns 4-7 are generally just people evolving and 2-for-1ing each other repetitively, which is why I'm not a fan, but it's not so bad.
