Besides, not wanting to play a funserver like GD with artificial progression just isn't fun for the people who don't want to do it, not necessarily because they're competitive but because it just feels completely off. Raiding, while a big part of even casual play in WOTLK, just isn't all there is to this game, and even in raiding the boss fights aren't all that matters but all of the meta (reagents, leveling characters, getting pre-raid gear, progressing previous tiers, all of that.)
