All girls arebest.
>>145948858
as we said in last thread, it's unclear if Akira revealed to be Suriko or simply stopped giving a shit.
But suddenly we had an awful thread, the kind of DND session when the master has her period and wanna kill/punish players with no reason, and a nightmare aftermath with him going crazy on players criticizing him.
>>145949194
Sounds like KY turned into shitty reality tv with "unexpected" character turns.
>>145949256
You can judge by reading the thread, it's still on the catalog.
But suddenly characters started to behave like fools, players started to pick worst choices to abort the session, the master trolled by never let happen a bad end (when we got a lot of them in past weeks with more logical choices) and starting calling unsuccessful loser people playing a quest on 4chan 'cause the criticize him.
Trolls, trolls everywhere
Welp, my night turned into a pile of shit. Hope everyone's doing better though. Think I'm going to watch the sun come up and go try to get some sleep.
Love you all, stay strong and keep your steel sharp.
>>145950152
I thought you went to bed hours ago.
anyway.
G'night, who ever you are.
quack
>>145950363
G'morning, Mr Duuk.
>>145950453
Morning, friendo.
How's it going?
>>145948858
>>145949194
We had a shit session because of a meltdown in our plans. Lilly got killed by Shizune, Akira is going to kill us the next time she sees us and we've lost any chance of having a Dere ending. Now we have to settle for killing Shizune and getting a Not-As-Good/Neutral ending to the route.
>That feel when you will never taste the french vanilla flavor of Lilly's lips
>That feel when you will never give a sleeping Emi a piggyback ride home
>That feel when you will never feel Rin's lips caress your hands as you feed her oranges
>That feel when you will never gaze at the stars with Shizune
>That feel when you will never wake up next to Hanako and take her into a loving embrace
>That feel when you will never feel a sleeping Misha press her soft body against you as you kiss her candy scented hair

>>145950891
yeah, also add Akira being highly unreasonable and mocking us in the end

I'm amazed it's not Kenji himself posting it for shits and giggles.
Now, there. Have a (You) and shoo
>>145950891
Yes and no.
It went exactly that way, but because the story to go this way.
We played all the time being full dere, or trying it, and we NEVER had a chance to do anything he told yesterday, like making other characters suicide, or poisoning them, or manipulating them.
Plus we got bad ends because we were dere, like last session.
And when we made plans, like being with Hisao, we NEVER had a chance to pursue them, every post someone stepped in our way.
Meanwhile our opponents were able to kill us in fights, to manipulate us and other people, to poison Lilly OFFSCREEN without us being there, shattering our alliance with Akira.
And we'll get a rape end or something similar.
Damn, that guy must really be Suriko
>>145953802
Yeah but he likes cripples(granted the wrong kind of cripples)so he's cool.

I'm in love with Rin Tezuka and want to celebrate this, so please post loads of pictures of her!
Does anyone here have steam?
If yes please ask Akira if he can get on the Katawa Yandere thread at least to answer to the question I posed about Lilly's death.
I have no steam, and that's a thing I'd wish to know now, not in a few months maybe if we'll finish the route.

>>145979405

>>145979841
no, it does suck, for the reason i already gave, dude. stipulated pastiche inherently sucks
imagine someone needing a flyer for their business, and they said to guy designing it, "i'll give you 50 bucks to roughly copy 'Guernica' in the background and put some typeface on top," and the guy was like, "sure man whatever give me the advance and i'll do it"
does that flyer have the same value as picasso's original? obviously not, and this is exactly how vidya soundtracks work
even goddamn harry gregson-williams knows that with his string scores for metal gear he's ripping on what all the classical, romantic and baroque composers already did hundreds of years ago, and getting paid to do it. i'm sure he recognises that is pales in comparison to their pieces, too, for the very reason that it was made to stick on a PS2 disc next to solid snake running around in a cardboard box
>>145980839
Most good soundtrack music isn't just "heres a scene, rip off something that works"
>>145980839
No music is original. Everything draws inspiration from something.
Why are you specifically targeting games and shit? Because it's the best way to get a rise?
>>145980839
Art and music are derivative? Surely you jest.
Also you saying that I'm assuming you hold the same opinion about movies, literature, games, or any other artistic medium as well? Inspiration taken /= worthless.
>>145980940
actually it is
there's a reason that well-revered soundtrack artists are few and far between. consider that morricone, bernard hermann and john carpenter are the three that are namedropped consistently, with scores that work just as well standalone, and that they work for *film*, not video games. consider how many metal bands with well-revered, canonised albums that a muso can list off, and then the number of soundtrackers
>>145981149
i'm talking specifically about soundtracks, not music made for music's own sake
it's made on contract, and as an afterthought - literally to fill in a gap - and the artists know that
>>145980839
So you can't enjoy soemthing if you know there is a 'better' or 'more original' version out there?
Do you refuse a meal in the restaurant unless the cook proves you that he invented the recipe himself and did not copy it from somewhere else?
>>145979431
It's the madman!
>>145981472
You clearly have no idea what you're talking about and are regurgitating shit you read elsewhere to try and feel superior.
>he thinks most music is made for its own sake
o i am laffin
>>145981472
What bands do you listen to?
>>145981149
>>145981385
oh and pastiche =/= inspired, by the way. there is a clear difference between imitation deliberately made for recognition - by an end user - and being inspired by something.
take >>145978520 for example. the generic, chugging metal riff is consciously made for a player to go "hey cool that's metal" while they're gunning guys down. consider how different that reaction would be if it were an 8-bit mario tune. it wouldn't work, and the reception would be jarring
>>145981519
no, of course not, that's a shit analogy. i already said that it's fine to enjoy, but inherently, yes it does pale in comparison to the better made stuff, and you even recognised that in your analogy.
>>145981706
you're literally saying that the fact i have read up on this before is a detriment, lol
>>145981472
>and as an afterthought.
Generalizing must be fun.
>>145981942
You're reading comprehension is shit, I said you read something and are just regurgitating it poorly without understanding why or having any actual understanding of the music.
>>hey cool that's metal" while they're gunning guys down
>thinking red alert is an FPS
Holy shit, you really have no clue what you're talking about do you
>lol
>>>/reddit/
>>145981980
it is an afterthought, though. you really think that the budget guys at a AAA studio are going to give 50% to a scorer? that the meeting times for how the soundtrack should be were just as long as the game design ones?
>
When did my /ksg/ turn into a music expert?
>>145981942
>if it were an 8-bit mario tune

>>145982308
yes, of course, but again to talk about the budget example - it's a very small percentage. and then i'd cycle back to what i said here >>145980839

Do you really think Gwyn's theme was made last minute with no thought put into the composition and just to fill a gap? Do you think "In Circles" from Transistor was made last minute too?
Not every triple A studio really cares how the music in their games turns out to be, but dismissing music just because it's from a game and therefore haven't been thought through is just stupid.
>>145982732
>start some heated shit-flinging here with bad vibes

Neither do a lot of MP games I play, doesn't stop me thanks to borderless windowed mode!

dark souls is a good reference point because it really is one of the few 'games as art' examples that truly stands out
but again, the process there was, "make a moving piano piece that fits our theme," and your composer went, "ok," and did so. he succeeded very well.
what you need to understand is that he wrote that music specifically to function in that context. listened to outside of it, by someone who hasn't played the game, it would have little of the original impact than it did to someone who had. they never entered the dark souls world, and they never fought the boss.
this is the reason that people love soundtracks in general and there is always 'that guy' who has nothing but the persona soundtrack on his ipod - they are directly related to and impossible to divorce from their original contexts in which they were first heard.
i hate to write this, but if you played gwyn's theme to someone who had studied classical piano works for years and years he would probably say "cool" and move on. it holds little value besides being slightly morose when taken on its own terms as a piece.

yeah this is largely my point
shit? no. inferior? yes

Just fuck off back to /mu/

You really are strange.

/mu/ is a cesspool and i haven't been there in years
but yes i'm going to change my writing style and start posting katawas now and then you'll never know it was me
>>145984229
>shit? no. inferior? yes
Are you a Hitler of /mu/? AAAryan master race?
>>145984478
Do you even know what borderless windowed is?
>>145984510
Then why bother caring?
>>145984478
>not playing at screen fitted borderless
jesus

i'm neither hitler nor /mu/ and both of those accusations are deeply offensive
>>145984574
what?
>>145984510
You're an arrogant cunt who talks about shit he has no clue about to get (you)s, "dark souls is a good reference point because it really is one of the few 'games as art' examples that truly stands out" is utterly retarded.

Ohh, you are actually reddit. Why don't you go back there, then?
>>145984654
>both of those accusations are deeply offensive
I am fully aware of it, I would not post it otherwise.

goodnight suzu.

Borderless window is full screen that lets you alt tab like it was a window without the game minimizing. It's becoming very popular thank fuck.
>>145984229
Well of course music composed to accompany a specific scene would be remembered with the context of the scene. There's already a story going on in front of you, and the music is made to complement it, not overshadow it. Obviously it would be different than a musical piece designed to stand alone and tell a story itself.
Yet according to you this fact alone means the entire genre sucks.
I think I've made my point.
>>145984585
>>145984527
Well, windowed borderless costs performance though, since you still render your desktop.
>>145984691
you didn't even try to discuss my points mate
i think the dark souls comment was justified, don't you? i'd much rather talk about the souls soundtrack as an example than, i don't know, the music from hyperdimension neptunia
>>145984835
i've genuinely never posted on reddit before
>>145984873
i'm sorry you guys took my posts as arrogant and smug... nowhere have i been trying to attack anyone's character, or look cool
>>145984959
Borderless window is the best thing since sliced bread and tits. Not, like, sliced tits. Just regular tits, mind you.
Good night, quack.
>>145984827
Borderless windowed is a window the same resolution as your monitor with no borders that covers the task bar so its effectively regular fullscreen except doesn't need to switch rendering threads or whatever when you alt tab so no black screen with a pause.
>>145985030
You lose maybe 1 or 2 fps on some games, if your computer is so bad thats unacceptable then you have more problems that that.
>>145984959
Hooray for the Borderless Gaming program so even old games can let you alt-tab!
>>145984959
Fascinating.
I want no part of it.
The point is some vidya have more commitment than others.
>>145985135
G'night, Mr Duuk.
>>145985259
Some is the key word there.
>>145984987
i'm glad you understand, this is exactly what i've been explaining the whole time
sucks was probably a harsh criticism, but yes, i do believe it's inferior for this reason. it's not made to function as standalone music, and therefore will never achieve what something that was made to be received as such can. you spelled this out quite clearly, so i honestly can't see how you don't understand my point
>>145985072
Theres no point, you have no fucking clue what you're talking about and are just here to stir shit.
You're a walking example of a smug underaged redditor who tries to force his opinion on everyone else in areas it is very clearly not wanted.
>>145985367
i think you need to calm down
again, i'd rather you mentioned exactly how i have no clue what i'm talking about rather than just assume i'm trying to troll. i'm open to what you have to say.
>>145985347
What about games made around the music?
And how would you know the difference?
>>145985347
But you can still enjoy the music? Why did you feel the need to point out that you don't like the music and try to justify this by calling the entire genre pointless, if other people are posting that they are listening to it right now and maybe even enjoy it more than other music?
>>145985072
I think I would still have to ask you to leave this place though, I'm afraid you caused quite a bit of inconvenience for others here.
>>145985259
>Fascinating.Bloody hell. Kiwi lad, please. You just woke up or have not went to sleep yet?
>>145985712
Pol-dood! You are here!
I've been wonder where you were.
>>145985347
>it's not made to function as standalone music
Actually most "osts" are standalone suites created as standalones to ideas and then edited to the scenes. They don't give the composer a scene and then tell him to make music for it. You really do not understand the entire process, vidya music is enhanced by understanding the original context but works perfectly as a standalone due to the creative process. Its often no different to when a regular musician makes a piece of music about a concept, event or story.
>>145985521
I actual was trying earlier.
Stop sealioning
>>145985347
What actually is your "point"?
>why do so many people listen to video game and anime soundtracks almost exclusively
Your question has been answered, it's because with the context of the scene people appreciate the music and can listen to it.
>it's not made to function as standalone music, and therefore will never achieve what something that was made to be received as such can
It doesn't have to.
>>145985851
I have spent most of my day inToussaint.Fun times.

>>145986201
>'that doesn't sound very Polish I'll google it and... Oh'
Haven't gone to sleep yet.
>>145985968
Even without the context good vidya music is great on its own. Obviously some is bad when devoid of context but as I said here >>145985901 a lot of developers will commission music to work as a standalone and then adapt it to the work or change the scene to suit the music.
>>145986608
I agree.
>>145986839
I can't tell if you're actually agreeing.
>>145980839
I know I'm late to the party but this poster assumes all video game music is made custom order to fit the video game. Even this notion is enough to counter your shit points.
Secondly you seem to argue that music is imitations of "classical" pieces. Everything in postmodern world is an imitation to some degree. I for one think every art except cave paintings is shit because that's the purest and most original form of art.
Thirdly who ever says you cannot appreciate video game music as a part of video game? Shadow of the Colossus has a great soundtrack because it's specifically made to fit the game. Your argument that great music should be removed from its context and still be enjoyable is super strange assumption. It's like I'd argue that playing a classical piece on a shitty record that butchers the original depth makes the piece inherently shit, even if it was really apparent that I'm not enjoying the piece in a way it was originally meant to be enjoyed.
Other thing is that art is subjective, and considering my earlier points your standards of judging music are really strange. But of course you already know this.
>>145986407
Why art thou like this.
>>145986314
I... Don't get the referrence I think.

In the English version of the game every soldier has a chance to say pam pam param when you walk near them including the Duchy guards. I forgot you were polish.
