Tin Man with a Heart of Gold

I will don full iron suit, and dual shields, and I will not kill a soul.

How will I get through the snowy parts in an iron suit? I will either:

A. Use the Fire Rod to create a clear zone of burning shrubbery.

B. Create a campfire, and warm up my suit and then run through those parts like a human torch, after ingesting something to give me heat resistance.

In both cases, I will reset the entire game if I inadvertently kill anything in the process.

Have they released a release date yet?
Also the ground looks kinda ugly in all of the webms, i'm scared what they showed in official videos so far were the NX version
>>
If emulation gets better or NX turns out to be puppies and sunshine I'll actually be getting this game. What I've seen of it makes me smile.

So apparently you can sell swag for money in this game

But I haven't seen any sort of shop or town in the previews

>>
>>145734356
They removed all NPCs (except for Old Man and the Sheikah monks) and town/s from the demo.

Actually, I wonder how they'll tackle the towns in this game (since there's got to be more than the usual 2). Guessing Castle Town won't be in, but maybe they'll go Zelda II on everyone's ass and bring back Darunia Town and Kasuto and such.
>>
>>145741895
That makes sense
>>
>>145741895
I would love for them to do real towns. The game from the demo seems dead, but its the demo so its expected. I just want a living, breathing Zelda.
>>
>>145741895
I have a feeling each sector will have at least one major settlement in it, but I think it's more likely they'll pull from more than just Zelda 2 for naming them.

Towns like Windfall, Outset, Ordon, Skyloft, or even obscure places like Village of the Blue Maiden or Animal Village could make an appearance. (Fingers crossed that Clock Town bullshits its way in.)

>>145741895
Maybe they'll have new settlements, like a tree-top village of Skull Kids in the forest, or if we get the ability to breathe underwater we could have an underwater Zora city.
>>

Am i the only one to think the game looks pretty bad?
I mean sure we've seen a few good places but overall everything looks blurry especially from afar
>>
>>145713334
>everything looks blurry especially from afar
Just like in real life.
>>
What the hell is the Shrine of Resurrection and why does Link wake up there?

Anyone else notice how everything is clearly in the past tense, as if Link was knowingly buried in this place with his clothing for the intent of reawakening? The clothes he gets are so short that both his bare midriff and ankles are showing, making it seem like if Link was buried naked but with his clothing next to him, he must have been younger at the time. Link literally "grew" inside the Shrine. Not to mention his title shot resembles a drawing from the original Legend of Zelda game, and the whole game design seems to draw from the idea of going back to the roots of what Zelda was (open ended, exploratory gameplay).

Any theories as to where Breath of the Wild falls into the timeline? Clearly the Koroks and Temple of Time is present.
>>
>>145758241
Pre-WW, or a brand new timeline, or a merging of everything.

Take your pick.

>>145758528
I'm personally thinking of a Post-WW (post Phantom Hourglass more specifically)
The temple of time is there because it was (lore-wise, since it's after OOT) in WW.
The korok are there from WW, and the blue tunic comes from WW (speaking of which they haven't shown the blue tunic in the demo)

2MB, 1366x768px
>>145760326
I believe it's without a doubt after WW, but not in new Hyrule, because the Temple of Time is there like you said.
I've only seen people who say that it's after Twilight Princess defend themselves by saying that the bridge is from Lake Hylia, but they're different bridges and they can be in different timelines
unlike the Koroks
I'm hoping we see Deku Tree(s) in this game so damn much
and I hope you get to climb right to the top of the fucker
and I hope Rito Postmen are at Death Mountain too
I just want the WW races/tribes to not be exclusive to that game
also I may be reaching, but the top of Ganon's Tower looks similar to the designs of the Ancient Relics, but that could just be because of how it's meant to be a wind pattern

I've wanted a game like that for years but

"Once upon a time, long ago, the Koroks took on human forms, but when they came to live on the sea, they took these shapes. Now they fear people... but to me, they will ever be my cherished little children."
— Great Deku Tree
>>
>>145761127
Fuck. Well, there goes that theory.
>>
>>145761245
if they ever do a spin off, even if they copy paste sections of this map, for a simple Sheikah game, where you fight against Ganon's army before the entirety of Hyrule is submerged beneath the ocean, after you've secured the Tri-Force and make a wish to the Gods
that would be great
but the fact there's not hero in that time makes me believe that it'd need to be a spinoff, which is sad
imagine a Zelda Chronicles game, where they just do a bunch of short games, based on different established backstories like the people banished to the Twilight Realm or the land on Earth before Skyloft was created

>>
>>145722207

So let's pool together all that we know about the game's timeline placement.

1. The statue of Hylia from Skyward Sword is in the game in the Temple of Time.
2. Rock salt from the "ancient sea."
3. Koroks from Wind Waker are back.
4. Eastern Abbey is next to the Forest of Spirits.
5. Spectacle Rock from NES Zelda.
6. Calamity Ganon took over only 100 years ago.
7. A floating sky ship.
8. Sheikah are prominent.
9. The royal family is referred to in the description for the blue tunic.

I know where the game takes place, but I want to see if you guys figure it out.

You can't see Eastern Abbey, but in ALttP and more obviously in ALBW, the Eastern Palace is next to a forest. But that may not be what I'm referring to, by mentioning it, because in the ALttP guide, it says that it was once a former Hyrule Castle.

Are they the same? That's for you to speculate.

I also do not have much faith in the breakable items. I understand they want to shake up the combat system by forcing you to be familiar with a variety of weapons but it seems mitigated by the massive amount of inventory space Link has. What will happen is that people will farm spears and clubs and spam coast on that while exploring or dungeon diving instead of collecting as you go.

They didn't remove them, you just can't travel outside the plateau. They explicitly stated that the plateau was just a place overrun with bokoblins, and it's also the smallest region in the game. You'll have to venture out of the tutorial area to find people.

I'm thinking blacksmiths will help you to repair them
only with some weapons though, since there are rusted swords and when the Fire Rod broke in the Polygon player's video it stayed in the inventory just without the top third of it, so I'm guessing you can get it repaired. I'm hoping it's at a cost of materials/ores and not just rupees

Am I the only one sensing serious shenanigans in regard to the plot?

Like, it shows you Ganon from the start, and you encounter the Old King really early. Players coming from WW may see the Old King and be inherently trusting.

I don't think the "the Old King is really Ganondorf" thing is legit, but I do question OK's motives. As I also question the nature of the Ganon Calamity.

"Oh, you need to go and beat the only thing keeping me from entering my castle and getting at the Triforce."

I mean, fucking seriously? Am I taking crazy pills?

By the time you actually have the game in your hands to play and discuss, this thread will be completely infested by waifufags/trips/cancer and memes. In about a month, you'll run out of stuff from E3 to discuss and you're gonna fill the gap with shitposting and fanart.

You cannot have a general thread about a game that hasn't released. The only hope fo rthis thread is to make it a LoZ general.
>>
>>145775242
>I don't give a fuck. I'm annoyed that you guys are so fucking stupid. BotW general seems like an alright idea, but you guys are literally fucking ruining it.
If discussing a game does not fit you you are invited to leave the thread as this thread does not seem to be for you

I do not understand why, by the way, you compare this general to the splatoon general when the two games are extremely different. There is a lot of things to discuss about BotW, may it be the already revelead content or speculating on the story, gameplay mechanics and such.
There is a lot of mystery around the game that splatoon did not have before release.
>>
Oh boy, here comes the usual /vg/ drama. Now I remember why I stick to /v/.
>>
>>145775805
>I do not understand why, by the way, you compare this general to the splatoon general
Because Splatoon even had several open beta demos that we all got a chance to play, and the general was STILL a fucking mess because there wasn't enough stuff to discuss. BotW didn't even have something like the Splatoon Global Testfires where the whole community got a bunch of hands-on time.
>There is a lot of things to discuss about BotW
Not enough to sustain a general thread and all ti's discussions for a year.
>There is a lot of mystery around the game that splatoon did not have before release.
Your experiences with it are finite. The amount of material that exists out there for you to examine is finite. You can't have a healthy general if you're likely to run out of things to discuss in less than a month you dipshit.

It's too soon. You should just stick with threads on /v/ or amend this general to be Legend of Zelda related in the broadest sense.

You're a fucking moron. That's not how generals work. If you make one, you're supposed to maintain indefinitely. /vg/ is not a board for throwaway FotM discussions. It's for threads that need a less disruptive home because of the nonstop discussion they engender.

>No one cares if you're a part of it

Yet you're the ONLY one being disruptive here.
>>

>>
>>145776887
>So why are you here?
To encourage this thread to straighten up and fly right by either stopping altogether or broadening it's theme to include Zelda stuff of all sorts. I'd like there to be a healthy general for Breath of the Wild. That can't happen if you guys start a year early and start compiling cancerous memes and tripfriends or whatever.
>And I meant "dying" not for the thread literally being deleted, rather the discussion within it.
I know. I'm saying it's basically shitposting on /vg/ if you try to start a general that you don't intend of maintaining "forever".
>Yet you're the ONLY one being disruptive here.
Yes and? That has nothing to do with the reason that /vg/ exists.

>>
>>145777208
>To encourage this thread to straighten up and fly right by either stopping altogether or broadening it's theme to include Zelda stuff of all sorts.
Why do you think you have the audacity to run this thread? Besides, there's absolutely no way to predict how this thread (whether it changes to LoZ general or not) will become in the end. It might be really healthy, positive general, or it might be a cancerous meme spawn pool. But there's no way of knowing until we have a thread.

1. This board is for the posting of video game "general" threads, which are long-term, recurring threads about a specific topic.
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sounds like a specific topic to me. But I'd be perfectly fine making it into a LoZ general if it stops people like you from spazzing out thinking you can control everything.
>>
>>145778028
I don't think so
for reference the Mario box had an amiibo, a t shirt, a Mario hat and a pin
so a Link hat maybe
a pin
an amiibo
and a t shirt
seems worthless
I don't understand how it's a mystery box since you can still buy the Mario one

>Why do you think you have the audacity to run this thread?
I don't.
> there's absolutely no way to predict how this thread (whether it changes to LoZ general or not) will become in the end.
Yes there is. Experience and common sense. I've seen it happen before. This won't be any different.
> It might be really healthy, positive general,
Only if it's handled properly.
>it might be a cancerous meme spawn pool
Guaranteed if things keep going on the current course.
>But there's no way of knowing until we have a thread.
Wrong. Generals started for unreleased games that are more than 30 days away are guranteed to be a shitshow
>But I'd be perfectly fine making it into a LoZ general if it stops people like you from spazzing out thinking you can control everything.
I don't think I can control things. I think I can point out how fucking stupid you people are being and help you to save yourselves from your own retardation.

The only hope for this thread is to expand to encompass ALL Legend of Zelda discussions. That way you'll have relevant and interesting subject matter to discuss for however long it takes BotW to release.

Actually I lied. After reviewing the footage over and over again... It turns out I fell for Nintendo's red herring.

That statue of Hylia isn't the same one up close it's much smaller.

Eastern Abbey is just a bunch of ruins and a shrine, with likely no connection to Eastern Palace.

Until I can up with something good, this might as well be a remake of Zelda 1.

About the SS split-timeline theory, NOPE.

Demise said after being defeated (not killed) that he'll survive as a curse that poor Ganondorf was the subject of.

And... Koroks.

Koroks only exist after the Great Flood.

My theory is: This is after Phantom Hourglass, with an ruined (by Calamity Ganon) advanced kingdom (see the Shrine of Resurrection) plunged back to medieval technology.

We know by the videos the Temple of Time is in and it has a Hylia statue.

But why CALAMITY Ganon? Why not Ganon?

What if it's a new "The Hero Dies" timeline.

Link dies, is buried by the Sheikahs, Ganon rules for 100 years, the Sheikah almost die out. Eventually Link finally wakes up.

The naming of "Shrine of Resurrection" just too heavily implies that Link has been killed at least once.

I know. I'm just trolling for follow and to expose any savvy Zelda fans who may be hiding their power levels. Unfortunately you are not one, or you would know that the reason Fi says that he's conquered time is to establish how Demise was able to curse beyond time/the wish of the Triforce.

>Koroks only exist after the Great Flood.
Not necessarily. It's said that the Koroks were once children, but how do we know that the Kokiri aren't named after the Koroks? In the Wind Waker, the traveling gorons also confuse Link for someone else. Like they're familiar with the Kokiri, but he says "No, it couldn't be."

>My theory is: This is after Phantom Hourglass, with an ruined (by Calamity Ganon) advanced kingdom (see the Shrine of Resurrection) plunged back to medieval technology

Yeah, how many hundreds of years ago? Even if we account for a Big O-style memory wipe, there are still hundreds of years between OoT/TWW, enough that a Link's reincarnation was skipped. Ganondorf broke out during a new generation's rule, and now there's a new generation on Outset Island which has a tradition, so at least on generation had to have practiced the hero thing. That's a minimum of 300 years.

Gorons can live for at least 400 years, but those gorons are still young.

My money's on Fallen Hero. Who's to say Koroks couldn't have evolved in that timeline, too? Both Fallen Hero and Adult timelines begin with the final battle in Ocarina of Time.

Post-flood Old Hyrule works too, but the way Ganon's sealed in Hyrule Castle REALLY makes me think we're looking at the Imprisoning War, here, or some time after it, where Ganon's trying to project himself (like he did as pic related) from the Dark World into Hyrule

Because it's a fairly common international language. But like >>145818491 said, other games had Hylian writing in a syllabery that was basically a cipher for katakana, like these being a cipher for the Roman alphabet.

So, obviously Ganon is the most common fulfillment of Demise's curse, but would be fair to say all the series' villains are a result of the curse? Because that's impression I got from the end of SS. It's not so much that Ganondorf is a direct reincarnation of Demise, more that Demise's hate infuses various individuals throughout history with evil will, Ganondorf being the most common due to his own tendency to not die/get resurrected.

No. Skyward Sword explicitly has you destroy the imprisoned with a wish and Demise is sealed forever. Demise was just talking out of his ass.
>>
>>145821545
Yeah that would make sense with various main villains of games who sometimes even aid Ganon (Veran, Onox, Vaati, Yuga) or not (Malladus, Bellum)
>>
>>145821545
No, because Fi calls Demise the origin of all monsters.

While Ganon is not explicitly considered this outside of maybe the NES games, in the Wind Waker he sources his powers from them (in the JP version), as he does in TP from the Twili.

I think the implication with the intro showing all those baddies behind Demise, like Ghirahim, is to indicate that demons have their own hierarchy, of which Demise/Ganon are the top.

Negative amigo. That's only what it sounds like in the English version if you take it out of context. In the Japanese version, "Demise" doesn't even have a name. The Zelda team invented their own naming convention which changes on context, as something between Final One/Apocalyptic One and Tyrannical Being.

Who is that typical of in Zelda? Ganon.

His curse is just vague because so is who he is before that. Fi says he's rumored to change appearance throughout generation, to foreshadow Ganon has a tendency to change.

Ganon even curses Link and Zelda similarly at the end of TP, as if rekindling this. And TP is the bridge between the old games and the new. It is basically a retelling of the Japanese ALttP manual story.
>>
>>145823013
>>145823990
Aren't you guys basically saying the same thing, or am I missing something?
>>
>>145823990
absolutely nothing that you said discounts the claim that everything that goes wrong in Hyrule is an extension of Demise's hatred

also it's natural for Ganondorf to curse Zelda and Link at the end TP since it's the one game where he actually dies while still in human form and is totally filled with hatred (as opposed to the ending of WW where he's much more solemn and depressed, possibly filled with regret)
>>
>>145824542
After SS, the ending of Wind Waker, with Ganondorf dying in human form and being regretful, felt like the years being sealed underwater had diluted the influence of Demise's curse on him. He still wanted to take over Hyrule, but he had more of his own motivation, and also didn't become as monstrous in the process.

Exactly

This is the Ganondorf that became beast Ganon at the end of OoT and was defeated while in this form, but then somehow reverted to human after this

TP Ganondorf willingly changes back from beast form before he's killed to try and use what power he has left to kill Link and Zelda

He's saying that Demise represents every bad guy. Vaati, Bellum, Onox and Veran, Malladus, DeathEye, Majora's Mask, Zant. Etc.

Not only would that not make sense sometimes in the story - Malladus was sealed at LEAST 100 years before Ganondorf was killed in the Wind Waker (Bryne and Anjean are over a hundred), and Zant is one of the Twili who has lived for thousands of years; but it simply can't be because that would make there more than one source of monsters.

Demise wasn't making some poetic metaphor hearkening to every villain in the series, is all I'm saying.
>>
>>145825124
*harkening I mean, not hearkening
>>
>>145825124
More than one incarnation of Demise's hated can exist at one time (i.e. Veran & Onox, Ganondorf and Malladus)

>Zant is one of the Twili who has lived for thousands of years
The Twili are descendants of the Dark Interlopers who were banished to the Twilight Realm by the goddesses for their advances in evil magic; in no way is it ever stated that Zant or any other Twili has been alive "for thousands of years"
>>
>>145825124
I don't see why it's impossible for Demise to influence all the villains, but I suppose it depends on how you interpret the curse. A lot of people seem to think he's reincarnated as Ganondorf in a similar way to the Hero being reincarnated. Seems to me it's more like his anger just influences people to antagonize Zelda's descendants and Link's reincarnations.

I don't know anything about info, but I'll link the songs I'm aware of. All other music in the demo is subtle and minimalistic to better fit with the world, so no more overworld music. There's a little tune when the old man speaks, a couple piano notes out in the wilderness or in a shrine, etc.

From the looks of it, bosses or mini bosses will have have full music. Hopefully towns and other important events will too.

Burden of proof.

Show me something that indicates the other villains have as much claim to the throne of Demon King as Ganon does. He is literally, subtitle Ganondorf; Devil in Japan. Demise is Mara. There is only one Mara in Buddhism.

And okay, yeah. Zant is part of the wicked one's descendants or whatever, but he feels their hate, presumably because he and Midna are all reincarnates of those people. Thus why Midna and the royal family felt the need for them to live isolated, which created the schism that set in motion the story.

I don't like that theory, because it trivializes emotion, and I feel that goes against the Buddhist themes in the story, like the The Spider's Thread allegory in Skyward Sword.

So now nobody in Hyrule can get angry because they let Demise influence them? Might as well be walking automatons then, deprived of free will.
>>
>>145826470
I enjoy it when it gets going, but I also think there's a bit too much going on- maybe because it was trying to fit the scenes in the trailer instead of being a proper song first. It doesn't sound much like a Zelda theme to me regardless.
>>
>>145826798
there isn't much free will in Zelda

>we're going to make a wish granting object and watch everyone fight over it for shits and giggles
>you have to lead a kingdom and possibly be attacked by powerful evil forces because you were born with the blood of Hylia
>you have to go on a quest to save the kingdom because you were born with the spirit of the hero

>>
>>145826891
I think the end where it gets going is the worst part. I dunno, I guess the Chinese motif feels forced to me.
>>
>>145826475
That's not the way this works. I've provided a counterargument already to your claim. You're the one who needs to back it. There is one Demise in Skyward Sword. There is one reincarnate of Ganon. You're saying there are more, multiple at a time even. Prove it.

>>145826705
Because Spirit Tracks is not canon (Hyrule's naming spits on the last will of the King to not call it that). The only reason it takes place a hundred years after TWW is because Iwamoto didn't like Tetra. Also, Ganon is dead, so it's inconsequential. He might be the de facto Demon King when Ganon is unavailable, like Ghirahim. Ultimately it doesn't matter.
>>
>>145826798
>So now nobody in Hyrule can get angry because they let Demise influence them?

I didn't/wouldn't say that. It takes more than getting angry to reach Zelda villain levels. Demise's curse just pushes certain people to that extra level of evil. Not sure why you're pushing this alleged Buddhism theme that much either.
>>
>>145827371
>Spirit Tracks isn't canon because I don't want it to be!
no point trying to argue with your headcanon i guess
>>
>>145827371
Who's to say the manifestation of Demise's hatred is just Ganon?
>>
>>145827371
Your counterargument was that the other big baddies don't stack up to Ganon's power, but nowhere does Demise say that

1. Anyone influenced by my hatred will have a certain amount of strength
2, At any given time only 1 being can be influenced by my hatred

Occam's Razor applies
>>
>>145827173
Free will is relative to an observer's perspective anyway. It's not an art, so it can't be quantified like visuals, music, or video games if you look hard enough. At what point, you think it can, is your own free will in application.

>>145827567
Cause it's present in Skyward Sword, and that allegory seems to deny what you were initially saying. For the record, I'm a Christian, but there aren't many Christian motifs in modern Zelda; so I wouldn't claim Ganondorf is a stand-in for Satan or even a Gnostic Christian "Satan/"self (you are realizing that flesh is the word self backwards without an h), without going out on a limb. Now Mara fits, because he's god of the underworld, has legions that he draws power from, and is part of the cycle of life (reincarnating being a prominent theme in Zelda).
>>
What will be the musical instrument for Link this time?
We've got Ocarinas, Harp, Howl, Baton, Guitar, Drums, Pipes and Panpipes so far.
>>

>>145828274

>>
>>145827217
I fully agree with the Chinese motif thing. The reason I like that part of the song because it's more cohesive than the rest of the trailer, but it still sounds very out of place for the game.

https://youtu.be/vga0QYSOuIc?t=188
I forgot about the 2014 trailer, so I guess this is BotW music too. Just a quick piano tune.
>>
>>145828385
>you are realizing that flesh is the word self backwards without an h

While mildly interesting in English this is not the case in Greek or Hebrew and you bringing it up seems strange to me and personally the way you worded it as well as bringing it up and all undermines my trust in your knowledge of these topics.
>>
>>145828830
But why does his hatred have to only take the form of Ganon? It could influence other villains, even if we assume it only influences one villain at a time.
>>
>>145828830
"An incarnation of my hatred shall ever follow your kind"

all this says is that whenever a hero's spirit is around or an incarnation of Demise is around they're going to try to stop each other
>>
Why the fuck does it matter whether Demise's curse only applies to Ganon or not? If Vaati, Majora's Mask, Malladus, etc. are products of Demise's curse, what changes? Nothing! So why even bother arguing about it? Demise's curse is clearly just an explanation for how certain character's reincarnate, so unless we see those villains reincarnate, it makes no difference whether the curse applies to them or not.

Let's say, for the sake of argument, that Nintendo planned for the whole Ganon = Demise thing, since at least Ocarina of Time. The Oracles and Majora's Mask were released right after.

First you have to leap over the idea that Ganon isn't Demise necessarily, RIGHT AFTER the game that started it. Then, you have to leap over the idea that curse influences or is (take your pick) more than Ganon, but also his pawns. Then you have to leap over the fact two can be influenced at a time, or that another villain can co-exist with the already present incarnation of his hatred (take your pick). Then, finally you have to assume this applies over the vague connection that Labrynna/Holodrum and Termina share with Hyrule where there are not necessarily even a Link and Zelda to antagonize.

Most of those leaps only exist because you're setting up the scenario in a way to make the side against you seem more complicated than it is.

Demise says his anger will follow Hylia's/Zelda's descendants and Link's reincarnations. That's really as specific as his curse gets. Doesn't seem to illogical to say that most, if not all, major villains are influenced by his curse's power.

It is rediculously dated. The new Yoshi game (God, I forget it's name, it's a yarn game I got for my kid) is absolutely beautiful and still cartoony as all hell. You don't have to have lifelike graphics, just GOOD graphics. Like that yoshi game. This zelda game looks many times worse than that Yoshi game.

There is a press kit with 4k images from this new zelda game, likely the NX version. It still looks terrible. The high def images only highlight that. You can zoom in on the grass on it's like a single shade of green. Lots and lots of them. There is no variance. It's bad.
>>
>>145815463
It's backwards.
Read it right to left, and you get
"FANTASY THO(?) HYRULO(?)"
In other words, someone mistook an "E" for an "O".
It reads, "THE HYRULE FANTASY"

This.
Only Link reincarnates.

Zelda is simply one with Hylia's blood, but a new Zelda every time.

The villains of Zelda simply carry Demise's hatred for all that is good, and that is why multiple incarnations of them can exist together (Ganon/Vaati, Ganondorf/Malladus)
>>
>>145833181

It has clutter and shading. Just not done well or hashed out. This could literally be a World of Warcraft screenshot from 2004. World of Warcraft was built to run on crappy computers to maximize the fanbase. EA uses this same tactic for The Sims. But that is PC games. Consoles have limitations. Is this the limit of the NX's capability?

And that is one of their showcase images, it is taken under the best possible conditions for their press kit. And it still looks very subpar for 2016. Saying "it's not about realism" is no excuse for bad graphics. Anything can be beautiful without being lifelike.

One day you'll realize that the company is giving you a subpar product when you could buy something that looks like Witcher 3 for the same amount of money. They are being cheap. That's the point.

It may be fun, but you know what, imitation twinkies taste pretty good, too. But there's a reason they cost less than the name brand. Nintendo is selling offbrand twinkies for Hostess prices.
>>
>>145833597

Dude ... the grass. Look at the grass. There's like 3 shades of green on it and the shading is all messed up. The rocks are such a low resolution that they look like poured concrete. The fog is polite globs instead of blankets on the floor as it should be.

Everyone cares about graphics. Everyone wants things that look good. It is human nature. People who say graphics don't matter know they would piss themselves over an Ocarina of Time with 4k graphics.

Just look at Final Fantasy VII. A few years ago there was a PS4 promo that showed the FFVII intro done with PS4 graphics. The entire FF player base squealed like piggies and demanded more information. Now, the game is actually in development. These are the same people that insisted the game was amazing with terrible graphics for the last decade. And it was amazing. But it could be BETTER with better graphics, and that's exactly what is happening with the new FFVII. Because people demanded it even though FFVII was fine as it was.

You can see exactly where the grass stops being rendered, there's barely any trees, the trees are all identical and have muddy textures up close, there's bad aliasing on everything close-up, there's barely anything in the world.

It feels like far cry 2. Go places, collect things, get bored.

Except this is nintendo we're talking about, so the difficulty of the things in the game is aimed at a playerbase with a max of 12 years old,

It's going to be vapid. Pretty at times, but vapid. It's a step up for the zelda franchise, sure, but the game's mechanics are on Oblivion's level. It's too little, too late.

Even with the short draw distance, it's not THAT bad. The ground is so heavily stylised, that being able to see individual blades of grass (or not) isn't all that important to me. It's noticeable, but it doesn't take away from my desire to buy the game. Besides, it's beta footage. I'm sure it'll be optimized for the NX.

It's not like, say, Oblivion or Skyrim on low settings, where the grass popping into existence before your eyes is so jarring you can't help but notice it every time.

This will be a mix of both anouma's creations, WW and TP. So it will be a mix of all 3 timelines with alot of homage to the original.

Yeah, because people really pissed themselves over Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD. Do you know what people talk about the most when it comes to Wind Waker HD? It wasn't the updated textures. It was the addition of the Swift Sail, an upgrade that vastly improved the gameplay. The only thing that really matters to most people in a game is gameplay. You can make the prettiest, most cinematic walking simulator ever made, but it won't push units unless the gameplay is good.

The gameplay is the one thing we can count on to be banal. it's a zelda game. When's the last time they were challenging? When we were little kids? Even then?

You can't play a real game and then play a zelda game. You'll notice everything wrong with the franchise, especially if you played the witcher or dark souls, since those games kick the shit out of everything botw could hope to be, gameplay wise. (less so witcher)

STOP ARGUING GRAPHICS AND LET'S TALK LORE YOU SISSY FAGGOTS

Let's recap everything in here:

>Link has been asleep or dead for 100 years
>Everything is in ruins
>There was an ancient sea covering the land
>Koroks
>An old man that suspiciously resembles Daphnes roams about
>Hyrule Castle is not over lake Hylia, like in WW, nor is it near lake Hylia, like in TP
>Hyrule Castle is not near Castle Town, like in OoT
>The Master Sword is rusted, as if it had been wet at some point, and it's rusted in places that would suggest that it wasn't the rain

My best guess is this:
>Adult Timeline
>Post Spirit Tracks
>The Koroks successfully unflooded Hyrule, Daphnes is somehow not dead
>Ganondorf's corpse is uncovered, Hyrule's settlers take the master sword to wherever it belongs

Either:
>Ganon is revived, the hero fails to defeat Ganon, is revived 100 years later
>The sheikah screw with time to bring forth either the hero of the winds or the hero of time
This is supported by the fact that, regardless of whether this is a new hero or not, Daphnes gives him a blue tunic, the blue tunic being described as one "only being worn by those that have earned the trust of the royal family".
In the Wind Waker, Link sports a blue tunic that Daphnes surely would have been aware of being under his green tunic (if you take new game + into account, especially). As such, it makes sense for the old man to give the hero something that reminds him of the hero of his own days. Furthermore, how would the old man have acquired this relic of the royal family and have known the relic's intended use if he was not in the royal family himself?

Lastly, there's one more possibility:
>It's actually a sequel to Zelda II
>Ganon's followers succeeded in killing the hero and reviving Ganon, as Link's purpose is to defeat Ganon, not his followers
>Similar to how Ganon was revived by his followers, Link gets revived by his followers, the Royal family and the shiekah.
?

I think it probably is the Adult Timeline, especially with the fact that the Koroks we find are the same ones from Wind Waker. I definitely think that the Old Man is a very important character, either the current king of Hyrule or maybe the current king of the Gerudo? Since it has been 100 years, it's possible that the male of the Gerudo tribe has already been born, and since Ganon is still alive, perhaps the Old Man is not affected by Demise's curse?

I'd also like to point out that it absolutely cannot be the child timeline, since Kokiri still exist as late as Twilight Princess

Agitha, Telma, and the fortune teller all have dots on their faces, and they're all unique in that they're the last of their kind in Hyrule.

Agitha is a Kokiri, Telma is a Gerudo, and the Fortune Teller a Sheikah.
As such, with the Kokiri extinct and unable to evolve into Koroks and the Sheikah extinct and unable to build all the stuff seen in the game, I think it's safe to assume it's either Downfall or Adult.

Of course, they may not really be the last of their kind, but they're the only ones you see in the game.
The only one that actually has a reason for being the last one outside of extinction is Telma, since the Gerudo simply fled Hyrule after their war with the Hylians.
However, the idea that they're the last ones is, at least on Agitha's behalf, supported by the fact that Ordon village is in the Kokiri forest, but none of the Kokiri are around to be seen.

>>
>>145837642
Yeah, I just remembered that Ganon had pointed ears in Wind Waker. My mistake. But anon, your theory is impossible. The Master Sword itself didn't allow Link to wield it because he wasn't old enough. There is no way that Link could have wielded the Master Sword as a child.
>>
>>145838761
Link did it in A link to the past, Wind Waker, link between worlds
the only reason that happened in OoT is because the master sword was too triggered to let a kid touch her when her last master was an adult
>>
I really don't want this to be in a fourth timeline.
I want some closure on Zelda II or the Wind Waker's timeline.

Zelda II's gone almost 30 years without a sequel.
>>
>>145838902
Yeah, I know he used the Master Sword as a child serval times. I'm saying that it is impossible for Link to wield the Master Sword as a child in OoT because it was impossible in the game. Losing to Ganon is something that you can do in OoT. Wielding the Master Sword as a child is not possible is OoT. I very much doubt there is a fourth timeline.
>>
>>145839117
Wind Waker's timeline is closed.

It was resolved when Link reverse-impaled Ganon, and the King wished for everything related to the Zelda series to be gone except Link and Zelda.

There will NEVER ever be a new game on that timeline. Not a canon one anyways. Not that Phantom Hourglass is not a good Zelda.

If this Link is a reincarnation, and this is in the Adult timeline, he'd have to be a reincarnation of Spirit Tracks or the Hero of the winds, as they carry a separate spirit than the other Links of the series.
The Child timeline and the Downfall timeline both carry the spirit of the hero, as in ALTTP, Link wished for OoT Link to have defeated Ganon, but it never happened from his perspective. ALTTP link went on to have several other adventures and die, passing on his spirit through the downfall timeline.

In OoT, he went back in time, leaving the Adult timeline without a spirit of the hero and thus passing his spirit on through the child timeline.

In the Adult timeline, WW link becomes the hero on his own and passes on his spirit to SS link.

So, if it's in the downfall or Child timelines, it could be any link from SS down to OoT, but if it's in the adult timeline, it would have to be WW/SS

Reminder that the game is already finished. Nintendo is just holding it back for the NX release.

Joking or not, it's not about "stealing" ideas, because if you'll look around enough, another game probably did the same thing before far cry 2.
In this industry, all ideas have already been explored in a way or another. It's like saying all platforming games are copies of Pitfall, which is true but at the same time stupid.

So yeah, the real question is not "in what game this already happened" but "why this doesn't happen in more games?". And the answer is, people care more about muh graphics and muh mature storytelling, so devs don't invest money on technology and gameplay research.

I wanna see the Roc's Feather or Roc's Cape make a reappearance. With the new jumping mechanics (and clothing, what with the Roc's Cape), they could be useful.
>>
>>145849742

This is what I'm hoping for as well. Seeing as link can climb walls and shit. So a hookshot that can be used everywhere would be a welcome addition
>>
>>145849894
Imagine a mountain too high to be climbed with your stamina.
With a hookshot you can target a very high point of the mountain and then star climbing from half way through the top.
>>
>>145849893

I don't think they're guaranteed. They said they want to break conventions here and those two items are the most conventional. Plus they could argue the bow is more prominent. And climbing and using the magnet rune would fill the gaps left from the hookshot
>>
>>145849980

And that would be awesome. If we get a hookshot it'll probably be a late game item.

I want an unbreakable shield too. Between that, a hookshot and the glider and we could have some top notch mobility and a LOT of fun to be had

I hate getting meta, I'm not the autist that was sperging before, but we should really think about what to do for the next threads.
I think the best thing to do is to make a Zelda general. Sure, we will discuss mostly BotW but opening the general to more Zelda discussions, like Hyrule Warriors or Triforce Heroes for instance, would help keeping the thread active.
Hell we could even create a Triforce Heroes group of play.

Still, we are only at 400 posts, so this might be premature.
>>
>>145713334
Wow, finally, A Zelda general.

It's about fucking time.
>>
>>145850640
Tell your friends.
>>
Reminder that no matter what scheme, in the end, the Sheikah are behind this.

The cycle is real and in effect since SS. It applies to all timelines and all games.
Since OoT the Sheikah are working actively to break the cycle. However, they only make progress in the twilight realm timeline. In the other timelines, the good guys either fuck up too much or are too successful. That's why we don't see Sheikah stuff in those timelines.

Zelda's soul does not want to break the cycle because muh duty.
Ganondorf's soul wants to break the cycle since Wind Waker without being aware of it.
Link's soul does not have a say in anything. He's destined to get played, literally.

The Lanayru civilization developed time travel machines. Lanayru can be written La'Nayru, like Eldin can be written El'Din. TP's Hyrule Castle was located in Lanayru. This is no coincidence.

The game series works towards convergence of the timelines since TP. At some point we will probably discover that Lanayru time fuckery has limits.

We will see elements from all three timelines in one game. The convergence of all three lines will happen, but it might not happen in this game. This game might have converged two lines already.

So what's /lozg/'s theory on the spirit orbs? They don't seem like typical relic items that need to be gathered, but more like aspects that Link absorbs into himself, as if they become a part of him.

Given the shady intro of him waking up from that stasis pod, should we take it as another sign that this Link isn't the real Link but some fake clone or robot, or that he died 100 years ago and was resurrected?

Because the spirit orbs seem to lend credence to this. Maybe they're fractions of the true Hero's Spirit, and in order to become a proper hero like the other real Links throughout the series, he has to undergo the shrine trials to earn enough of this stuff to proper defeat Ganon?
>>
>>145851320
>Since OoT the Sheikah are working actively to break the cycle
what makes you say that?
>>
>>145851747
In short, my desire to make OoT work in a larger scale than the game itself. The way Nintendo established the timeline with OoT splitting up the flow is weird.

To make things work out, someone must be behind splitting the timelines. Considering the heavy involvement of the Sheikah in the beginning of BotW and the fact that they have access to this high level of technology, which is similar to the ancient Lanayru, I find it plausible to say that the necessary driving force behind that intentional split are the Sheikah.
>>
>>
>>145713334
So, it's like Dark Souls or something?
>>
>>145851747
>>145853838
Oh, and if you were talking about motives, I don't have any specific for you. I don't need one either because the cycle is both a blessing and a curse for virtually everyone involved.

They can pick whatever they want to justify any motion in favor or against it.
>>
>>145832828
I think it looks fine.
>>
>>145853975

The Legend of Souls: Breath of Ghibli. Yep.
>>
>>145851396
From a gameplay standpoint, I suspect those orbs are needed to enter some specific areas or dungeons.
>You need more spirit orbs to enter this dungeon
Something along those lines.
>>
>>145825915

For me it's absolutely the latter. Seeing Ganondorf as a literal reincarnation of Demise in the same manner that Zelda and (to an extent?) Link reincarnate manages to cheapen both Demise and Ganondorf. Demise gets cheapened because he goes from the ultimate evil to a magically-gifted human, and Ganondorf gets cheapened because being a reincarnation takes away some agency from his character.

It's much more poignant to view Demise's curse as basically force on the level of influencing reality itself. Link, Zelda and Hyrule will forever be doomed to ALWAYS be hounded by a neverending chain of supervillains who want to destroy them. None of them are actually connected to Demise, but the curse creates conditions that allow them to exist.

Ganon just happens to be the most persistent and successful one, which is related to the fact that he is the only villain to acquire the Triforce, which ultimately bound him to both Link and Zelda and thus bound him to the overall cycle of their reincarnation.
>>
I'm so pumped to watch people kill Ganon with a bunch of sticks while naked
>>
>>145854710
I really feel people are taking Aonuma's words too literally.
Yes, you can reach Ganon right after you begin the game. But that doesn't mean you can actually beat him. Or get the real ending for all that matters.
I mean, in the streams they showed a fight against the Boulder boss. He basically killed Link in one or two shots.
How can people think to beat Ganon in that state?
>>
>>145854832

This, I'm willing to bet there's an aura around the castle that outright kills you without the proper plot items collected.
>>
>>145854832
>How can people think to beat Ganon in that state?
speedrunners will find a way. I garuntee you it will take two weeks at the most for someone to find a strat.
>>
>>145854832
Okay I was exaggerating; probably there's a fair chance it's literally impossible to kill Ganon without certain accomplishments, but I'm pumped to watch the internet discover these minimum accomplishments, route them down to a minimum time, then kill Ganon while wearing no clothes.

Not that anon, just my two cents. Being a reincarnation doesn't mean the guy can't live its own life. For instance, TP Link might be a reincarnation of the hero but he doesn't get necessary in love with the reincarnation of Zelda, like in SS.
The hero and the villain can be reincarnations but still live their own lifes with their different behaviours and tastes. Ganondorf being a Demise reincarnation doesn't mean he can't have its own strong motivations which go further than the simple "you are cursed to be the evil guy". It depends by the circumstances.

Besides, I think all the "reincarnation" thing is highly debatable in general. Whoever can be the hero as long as he have courage, WW Link basically proved that. Whoever can be the villain as long as he have power as well.
>>
>>145854832
>>145855098
I feel like we've talked past each other a little. My emphasis here is on naked Link. That's the main concept I'm getting at here. Dead Ganon. Maybe some blood or whatever or who gives a shit. Naked Link. Maybe a sword I guess. MGSIII jokes optional. Naked Link not optional.

Ok, boys, we are a Zelda general. It's time to settle this thing once for all.

Whenever someone asks which is the worst Zelda game ever, the first thing that happens is someone writing "B-but CD-i games don't count!". Well, fuck that noise.
Here and now, we must decide if CD-i count or not. As a matter of fact, those games are Zelda games and they are also very similar to LoZ 2. Nintendo might ignore them in the timeline but they are still fucking Zelda games.

So yes, once for all, CD-i games count and, yes, they are the worst Zelda games in existance.

Bullshit aside, I do not count them in. They stretch the field so much it's not worth looking at other games. There's not much information to gain. Excluding blatant outliers is a commonly applied technique in research. Like you have proven yourself, including them cuts the discussion short. If you don't actually want to discuss it, fine. If people want to gain knowledge through discussion, they will exclude that shit.

There is no discussion to be had if you exclude the actually worst games. You'll just finish in the usual clichès of shitposting and "my favourite game is better than your favourite game".
But everyone can agree on the fact CD-i games are the absolute worst ones, without shitposting whatsoever.

They made the trials to replace the hours long prologue from previous games explaining every little mechanic to you.

So they wanted to get the point across about what you could do with the power, but didn't want to make it too hard either.

Later trials are apparently harder and will require much more thought.

It's technically just stretching out the tutorial as you will be required to go to the shrines for the gadgets to be able to explore or fight later in the game.

Not really, you don't have to even do the trial at all if you don't want. You can go in, get the power and walk right back out. I would rather have something I can do at my own pace, then a fucking huge chunk of my time wasted before I can get to 'the real game'.

Also, i'm sure the amount of powers for the Slate are rather small in number. It starts with bombs and then you get Magnesis, Stasis and the Freeze on the Plateau. They already said that not all of the shrines will give you a power. I think there will only be a few more powers after that.

So maybe 6 powers as you don't want to over whelm people. and trials that last ultimately maybe 2-5 minutes? Yeah, I'll take that over drudging through an hour to two hour tutorial.

Given that they already said that you can beat the final boss right at the start of the game. There also has to be ways around missing certain powers.

Speaking of Guardians, did anyone else notice that they didn't seem to be protecting the Temple of Time, but rather seizing it? Perhaps it was taken over by the enemy? Or maybe the Guardians and the Shiekah aren't as benevolent as we believed.

>Or maybe the Guardians and the Shiekah aren't as benevolent as we believed.
This is a common theory, and it think it has some ground to stand on. I thought it was interesting how the old man talks about the Sheikah, too.

>Long ago, an advanced civilization known as the Sheikah inhabited these lands.
>It was the power and wisdom of the Sheikah that saved this land time and time again.
>But their civilization disappeared long ago... or so it is said.

Now, I haven't played all the games, but weren't they practically extinct in all the games? They never had a civilization to speak of, and they never were big players in game events either. Is the old man talking about events long before they were nearly wiped out or is their significance being exaggerated?

Anyone else secretly hoping for the possibility that NPCs can perma-die in this game, depending on what you do or choose to do?

Like you can either kill them personally or you can take a dialogue path to refuse a sidequest/choose not to protect a village for the time being, and this results in said village and villagers getting burned to the ground via moblins or something of that sort?

The only thing that would fix such a mistake is the ability to time-travel back before the event ever happens. Which leads me to my next question:

Everyone agrees or at least senses the possibility of a time-traveling gimmick for this, right? It's so blatantly apparent that we're going to travel back and forth between the 100-year gap. All of those inactive guardians scattered everywhere, the Temple of Time currently being left in ruins, the effects this could have on villagers and NPCs, Aonuma saying that settings do play a major part in this game, regarding the gameplay... It's so obvious.

It's also a major theory that the Twili were actually the Shiekah. Anouma also mentioned a connection to TP that would have us wanting to replay the game. I'm guessing it has to do with that.
>>
>>145869001
Seems like it could be a lot less of "equip this" since they give you all the basic runes from the outset. Rather than forcing you to backtrack (though it will still probably happen in the dungeons) the trials seem more about finding ways forward by solving challenges than finding your way around a dungeon.

They also stated explicitly that not every trial will be puzzle based. There will be combat ones as well.
>>
>>145869182
I would keep my expectations in check.
About NPCs, we saw the old man reacting when Link tried to hit him or when Link picks up a bomb. But killing NPCs? I doubt it.

As for time travel, I expect you can summon things from different times and timelines, like Wolf Link, but not time travelling.

Surprise surprise - they never went extinct. That's just what they wanted everyone to believe.

I'm sure it's already been posted, but there's growing evidence that the Sheikah are something extremely powerful, almost Illuminati-tier in the Zeldaverse. Especially with the confirmation that they're an extremely technologically-advanced society, with most of the technology or magitech throughout the series barring a strong resemblance to their architecture and design.

Rupees are in the game, you just don't get them from grass or treasure anymore. They want you to get them mostly from selling the stuff you find.

Bottles are out as an item, instead you get one when you make a certain dish. Spicy Elixer was the first potion we saw, gives a long duration cold resist.

Perhaps, but Fahrenheit is a completely human-made concept from the 18th century, unlike Celsius, based on the physical properties of water, there is no reason for Hylian/Sheikah engineers to know what Fahrenheit is. Though I'm not saying Celsius would be much better.
A hot/cold gauge with ~7 degrees from "skin-peeling" to "frost-bite" would be both more immediately useful and also make more sense in-universe.

I didn't browse /v/ when TP was revealed but I greatly enjoyed the game and I'd rate it 3rd best behind WW/BotW, assuming BotW lives up to even half the hype. I don't understand the hate it gets. The Wii controls weren't mind blowingly fun but they felt smooth especially compared to some other Wii games and added immersion to the combat.

>>145871186
My only point was that since there's plenty of precedent for games doing the same thing without taking it any further there's no reason to expect more of this game when we haven't seen any indication of further consequences of NPC interaction.

>>145873127
The combat feels really nice, and throwing your weapon to crit enemies is really great.

>>
>>145873746
>It could just be a sea from millions of years ago that naturally dried up
That's not realistically a possibility unless the item description is specifically meant to be a red herring.
If the sea is so ancient we haven't even seen it before then people would have been living in Hyrule after it had dried up, meaning people and animals would have already found and used much of it, it would be a very rare find if even still there at all.

If it's from some other sea on the edge of or far away from Hyrule then what's it doing on a plateau in the middle of the kingdom?

It certainly could be from another sea if it's intentionally meant to mislead us and is later explained away but otherwise there's no doubt it's from the Great Sea.

Not that anon, but take a look at real world rock formations. Where I live, we have limestone that's been laying around for millions of years from ancient oceans and lakes. Despite constant usage there's still plenty left, enough that I can find some in my own backyard.

If the rock salt IS referring to an ancient sea, it's more than plausible that it could stick around until this game. However, that also means we should have seen evidence of it in previous Zelda games, which we never had. So it being from the Great Sea is still more likely.

The old man is the manifestation of Ganon's wisdom
The beast is the manifestation of Ganon's hatred
The voice of Zelda you hear is the manifestation of Ganon's conscience.

The real Link and Zelda are in New Hyrule in Spirit Tracks, this game is all the psychological collapse of Ganon after being turned to stone.

The scale is still a human concept, but I get your point. The temperature will also likely be Celsius in PAL regions, or maybe we'll even have an option of which to use. I agree though, a simpler scale would actually be easier to use for the player. You can always think of the temperature system as being translated from whatever the in-universe equivalent is, like how all the character dialogue is written in an earth language and not some made up Hylian one.

Nah. The plot will be a lot more fucked up this time due to Monolith's heavy involvement, but I doubt it'll be thatcrazy.

The following is more likely:

>Link died 100 years ago and was revived, but lost his hero's spirit in the process, with it shattering into many pieces. Now he has to undergo the shrine trials to literally piece himself (his spirit/soul) back together.

>this Link is actually another Link from a different era, or maybe even a different timeline - and was teleported here because the designated hero for it is MIA. Very likely that this takes place before the flood or the first in the downfall timeline because of this.

>This Link is either a clone, a sentient android or some other artificial construct created by the Sheikah as a desperate last-ditch effort to recreate a hero since the current one is dead or MIA; that or its possible that this fake Link is puppet of someone else for more malevolent reasons

Not sure what you guys are getting at, but sea salt specifically is commercially sold salt extracted by evaporating sea water. Rock salt, or halite generally forms similarly, it's just when sold it's not called sea salt because they didn't oversee the evaporation process. There are large halite deposits in places like the Appalachians. So it very well could be a reference to the Great Sea. But it could easily be a red herring in the sense that Hyrule was covered by a sea before people settled it, if we're applying real world principles to the games.

He aggroes based off of distance, iirc. You can shoot stuff from a far distance away and he won't do anything. It's not until you get close that he reacts.

What if Calamity Ganon isn't actually related to Ganondorf? The presence of various references to Hylia as a goddess, which largely disappears by later eras as the Golden Goddesses got more emphasis, makes me feel like this should take place closer to Skyward Sword's time. But Ganon being mentioned makes it seem like it needs to be after OoT. But does anyone think it could be possible that there's a form of Ganon that exists apart from Ganondorf going ham?
>>
Post things you hope are in the game, regardless of likelyhood:
>More companions than just Wolf Link and a horse. Nintendo probably wouldn't program Wolf Link AI and animations and then make them exclusive to Amiboo users, so maybe you can tame a regular wolf at some point. For other companions, maybe an animated statue/armor, like Zelda in Spirit Tracks, or one of those Sheikah mechs to suport you with covering fire from its energy blasters
>A close quarters combat system. I want to run around punching, kicking and wrestling Moblins
>A full set of special moves for each weapon type
>More weapon types, like dual swords, halberds, flails and whips
>A hookshot with as many uses as Just Cause's grappling hook

If punished Link and the Lothric Hyrule theories are indeed happening, then we better have the chance to run into other Links from the previous games or timelines, and they somehow got stranded into this Bizarro Hyrule for whatever reason. Probably due to Calamity Ganon fucking things up, since he now has an appropriate enough title for causing such a crazy event.

Optional companions (like a Zora, a Goron, etc) that follow you around and help both with combat and puzzles.
Each companion would have different skills, so one is better at combat, the other gives you hints with the puzzles (maybe the dumb one would give the wrong hints).

Big age gaps between the three main characters. I want to see old man Link protecting loli Zelda, or kid Link saving MILF Zelda, or Ganon being an evil child prodigy.
I want Toon Link (or Young Link) to interact with Midna (both forms).

Dungeons you can explore in different ways depending on what items you have on you. So let's say you have the bow but not the bombs, you can access a part of the dungeon and beat a boss. Then you come back with the bombs and beat the other part of the dungeon. Or maybe you simply have to look for alternate ways to solve the same puzzles with the items you have.

A dungeon where you fall in and find yourself locked inside the boss room. So you first have to beat the boss, then find your way out of the dungeon.

Yes, and it was pretty much confirmed ALBW. Ganon is pretty much Demise's curse that's somehow managed to gain sentience over the years.

Well, the Triforce shouldn't actually take things literally. It's supposed to detect the wish at heart and fulfill it, without monkeypawing it. However, it seems to go with an least effort approach. So sinking the remainings of Hyrule, including Ganondorf and the King, was the least effort effect to fulfill the King's desire.

In SS, Link wished for Demise's death. Demonic beings like Demise probably have resistance to certain deadly effects and would probably require more elaborate effects to die for real. While simply dispersing Demise into atoms, heart failure, random combustion or many other spontaneous lethal effect might have been possible too, the Triforce, or rather, the Goddesses decided that it involved less effort by simply dropping that section for a bloody death from above. It also results in an epic cutscene, so it's win-win.

We get the fact that 'story' is largely the history of what's happened before and how it has caused the events currently transpiring, along with various side stories, and that you can largely ignore this investigation and go straight to swording the evil without understanding the overall plot of the game or investigating any side quests.

If they're going all out with the gameplay by trying to break stale conventions andechanics, the I don't see why they wouldn't do the same with the plot, lore or world-building; Aonuma did imply that BoTW would take a more Dark Souls or MM approach in this regard.

I don't see how ss or hyrule historia retcons anything, in fact, they kinda support your theory.
ss states that only the spirit of the hero can wield the master sword, and surely enough, the hero of winds can't at first, he first needs to prove himself to be worthy to become the hero, kind of mantling his spirit.
meanwhile, the chosen hero from twilight princess doesn't have to. or any other hero, for that matter.

imo, the only portion of the trailer music that sounds fitting for the Zelda series is 2:16 and everything else from there on out. That's Zelda; that's memorable, emotional music that feels fitting for a Zelda adventure.

http://youtu.be/UL-1tph8g3g

Everything prior to that though.... Not so much. The Chinese violin sounds offbeat and doesn't flow with the rest of the composition.

Meanwhile the music before that is completely off, once again sounds like Skyward Sword's blunder composer work where the tunes feel more fitting for Mario Galaxy than they do for Zelda.

I don't understand why they won't take a similar orchestral approach to that of the Zelda orchestra concerts instead.

Because the choice and composition of the songs they play for that concert is at least fitting for Zelda's epic feeling and tone.

The first minute or so of that trailer though.... Yeah that shit isn't epic at all, sorry.
>>
>>145889605
They won't just rehash OoT gameplay-mechanic. Even with MM the time travel dealt with a different kind of mechanic.

Nah, I couldn't find another word to describe it. "Adventurous?" Legendary? Amusing that you immediately assume I'm jumping back the old 2006 meme-definition of "epic" to describe what I'm getting at here.

>>145895603
Melancholy is good, plenty of Zelda games also had numerous melancholic themes... but there's something "off" with the majority of the trailer's theme. I think it also has to do with the use of instruments. As a few others have already said, the erhu feels offputting for Zelda' especially a general Zelda theme.

I don't know, I'm just getting Skyward Sword vibes from all of the music that I've heard so far and that game has one of the worst and most unfitting OSTs in the entire series.
>>
>>145894742
it's not supposed to be 'epic', it's supposed to illustrate the tranquil desolation of the world, whch has been largely reclaimed by nature and civilization lies in ruins (albeit really comfy, appealing ruins).

The music that picks up around a minute in sounds kind of like something you'd find in a ghibli film imo.
