Pillar Men were a splinter guild formed on a very broken TBC server in a move by Tyrannis to get revenge on <You> for denying him loot and raid spots when cycling people in and out of raids. When he and others hit 70 on vengeance they started gearing and trying to clear Kara but it was wonky and didn't work right from what the videos showed. Some bosses were jokingly easy (Attumen was just a tank and spank) and others were hilariously OP because the server was hot garbage in terms of scripting.
As far as speeding through content, that's usually what happens on private servers. The biggest roadblocks are shit scripting, inexperienced players, player turnover and gearing.

There are a couple of servers for wrath worth trying out (Lordaeron/Icecrown, ToD, even Dalaran) but each has serious drawbacks.
There's only really Atlantiss for Cata. It's pretty good but I'm not a huge fan of Cata itself past firelands.
Wowfreakz is the only """"good"""" MoP server I know of, but even then it's pretty iffy. I didn't make it to max level before quitting so I can't attest to or decry end game content on there

Icecrown has a point system based on your achievement points. The more achievement points you have the more points you get when payout time is there every X days or so.
You can actually buy 25man gear with those like all tier 10 pieces and even trinkets from RS25 normal etc. So a 10 man guild could potentially get nice gear without even stepping a foot in 25man, as long as they actually play the game and rack up achievements.
Doesn't this sound good for shitters and 10man guilds? You can do naxx, ulduar, bgs doesn't matter it's all worth you get a present eventually while still leaving the 10&25hc gear for the hard raiders.
Not shilling I'd just like to see what people think of a system like this.

That's probably a good summary. Just one thing, what's with the Dalaran hate on ToD? Is it like reverse psychology caused by the shills? I've been somewhat around since ever and Dalaran always kept it's place as solidly mediocre, which usually makes it the second or third best server available at any given time, behind Sunwell (RIP) and Molten/Warmane (according to the popular consensus). Like quite new. I come here every month or so for the past year and a bit to check out what I assume is a relatively unbiased opinion about the private server scene. I played private servers for a long time, but now there appears to be no right choice so I'm lost. But for the majority of the times I've lurked this thread Dalaran was considered passable apart from the class scripts and questing, but still not that bad. Now it's the posterboy of shit. And it only seemed to be treated like this since a massive flood of over the top shilling which I can't honestly tell whether it was a bad troll, a bot, somebody clinically retarded or what that continues to some extent to this day.
