Zero was at the height of its popularity and SN hadn't had anything in years. Extra was far less mainstream than Zero was, and before people like you showed up, plenty of people thought Lancelot was cool because he managed to stand up to Gil for more than a few seconds without being destroyed, and because he had a genuinely cool way of fighting that was new and interesting. GBF does some things better than FGO, and does other things far worse. The music is pretty top notch for a mobage, and the art is pretty great, assuming you like the final fantasy style. Gameplay I would say is better too, since it's more a traditional RPG.
The UI and menus and shit, however, is vomit worthy terrible. The game is basically entirely server side, so you would think the gooks behind it would have the intelligence and foresight to truncate the amount of menus you have to navigate, but nope, not these guys. To do fucking anything requires you to be inundated with menus, meaning loading, meaning you lose precious time fighting the boss you are after, because this game tries to be e-sports as fuck with competitive raids. The person who gets the top honors in a raid receives enhanced chances at rewards, so you can't be wasting time putzing around in the fucking menus before you get into the fight. The grind in basically everything would make a Korean dizzy also, which is not a point in its favor. It's like it's pretending to be an MMORPG. And the events, while running circles around FGO in terms of quantity and consistency, are largely pretty shit. Quantity is not necessarily better than quality, but granblue never got that memo.
All in all it's two different kinds of shit. FGO has myriad wrong with it too, but you already know that laundry list of problems.
