You want to focus on making dash attacks instead of Rip/Tear combos. The arc damage is worth it and the attacks are so quick you can dance around enemies as long as you have stamina.

At 50 Skl with decent-ish Mensis gems going tricked and ripping and tearing can keep Ludwig's blade-mode completely staggered when he attempts a charged attack and after a stamina-bar and a half of it (I think my Skl char has around 120-130 stam) you're guaranteed a visceral. Breaks his legs in horse-mode a lot too.
It's more situational than most weapons, but when you get used to using it it's pretty damn good. I also felt how you do when I started with it.

You'll want to be constantly unzipping and zipping the Chikage. If you're far enough away to warrant shooting instead of slashing, you should be unzipped. With the Bloodletter, if you hit them with the trick attack it'll instantly rally all the damage back, and you have a large window to rally it by just attacking if you whiff that attack anyway.

Don't really agree, seeing how you stop the ritual by silencing the baby (the great one we know Mensis beckoned), yet MP shows up afterward anyway. Also, MP was already beckoned when the Hunter's Dream was made by a different group of people, and that dream has been used very often since.
That, and the way the interview is written, one interpretation was clearly his intent as opposed to the other, and he describes them as fairly separate things. If they were really supposed to arrive at the exact same end point I'd want to know what the point of the distinction is at all.
Also worth pointing out that stopping the ritual clearly ends the hunt like the hunter's dream note says, since Gehrman kills you and you wake up the next morning entirely independent of anything you do to MP.
So all of that being said, only thing that's really clear is that stopping the ritual is really only a matter of that particular hunt, since Mergo and the Mensis ritual aren't the true source of all beasthood transformations for a shitload of reasons.
Only problem is, we don't even really know if killing MP will achieve that since we know jack shit about it other than who beckoned it and what it wants from its surrogate child (and maybe that it was a follower of Oedon if the artbook still means anything).

Moon Presence being beckoned by Gehrman and the Hunter's Dream existing, and the School of Mensis trying to summon Moon Presence are two completely different things, Anon. The School of Mensis knows about Moon Presence (given the notes in the Lecture Building) and they've figured out how to ascend (again, given the notes in the lecture building) but that doesn't mean they can just waltz into the Hunter's Dream like it's no big deal and scream at the moon until MP pops out. There's a reason Moon Presence favours using foreigners, and there's a reason MP sends you instead of going itself. Hunt the Great Ones, Hunt the Great Ones. Removing Mergo stops the ritual because Mergo is the very ritual, trying to lure out the nameless Moon Presence beckoned by Laurence and his associates. Paleblood. And in a way, that's exactly what happens.
The first note has a multitude of ways of being interpreted. You can say stopping the ritual ends the hunt because it ends your specific hunt and you get to wake up, sure. But then the next time MP wants something dead he'll just get a new hunter and the hunt will carry on. Killing Moon Presence ends the hunt for good.

We know there have been many others who have hunted (everyone we can summon with the Old Hunter Bell + Eileen and Djura, to be specific). We know that when the red moon hangs low, when there's a Paleblood sky, things go from bad to downright insane (both from experience and Old Yharnam). We know it's the red moon descending that impregnates certain people (thus creating new cords).
The only way what you're saying makes sense is if you're suggesting there's no connection between Moon Presence and the red moon, and if that's what you're saying this whole debate is meaningless.

Well this part at least is obscure enough that Orphan makes sense. Orphan is an infant great one so it has to have a cord, and there wasn't a red moon for that. So there should be more than one way of getting cords.

The tower was already built before that. It's the access to Upper Cathedral Ward. And the School of Mensis didn't build the tower. And you're still assuming they know that's where the Church Workshop is despite the fact that's got basically fuck all to do with them beyond them being vaguely related to a third organisation. And then there's the fact Mensis wants to Hunt the Great Ones, Hunt the Great Ones, and the Choir, who are accessed via that tower, are responsible for communicating with and housing a Great One, and are invested in keeping the bitch alive. And the Choir and Mensis aren't exactly friendly with one another. And the Tower is behind a hidden door in the first place. But aside from all that you're really breaking new ground here.
