The problem with last general was that nobody played. The guilds were usually full of players who joined up once and just never played again. I think if we all start from the beginning (which seems to be the plan) we'll be more inclined to keep playing because we have people around a certain level to play with.
Also all Discords seem to do is let weirdos who only have a surface level understanding or enjoyment of a topic talk dirty to each other. I've never seen a Discord that didn't end with ten regulars who talk about how they're really good traps or how they want to get fucked by futas. It's gross and adds nothing to discussion.

Also I can see where your point, but Discords tend to reflect the community it's centered around. I've seen plenty of cancerous Discords, but ones for smaller communities tend to be okay. Really the only reason I'm suggesting this is because the community's kinda fragmented as it is, and the frequency (or lack thereof) of these generals isn't helping. Many of the people I know from years ago have mostly moved on to different games, and I feel like the Discord route would provide a means of maintaining a community even if not everyone is playing Mabi at the moment, or if someone misses a general and they die off for awhile.

The first time you helped that person seemed out of good will, but by being useless in the dungeon you've established yourself as someone with an idle but talkative personality -- all talk and no action, did you even try? Afterwards it seemed like you were expecting to get rewarded by your efforts like a dog sitting idly, tongue out and tail wagging side to side in front of its master. It was already too late. No matter how hard you tried, first impressions linger. She fed you scraps out of self-pity, like a master indulging her dog with idle talk. That's how she saw you, and from then on you were half the man compared to anybody else she was remotely into.
You sound like you haven't fully matured, emotionally. Just be grateful that even though you felt a strong emotional connection, it was all still borne from a virtual medium. It could've been worse. This is all juvenile heartbreak, something you'll look back to ten years from now and it'll all be nostalgic. Others aren't so lucky, having experienced something much more real, much more severe than online rejection look back and it crushes their hearts no matter how much happy they are at the moment. You're one of the lucky ones.
I'm only writing this because I am all too familiar with this situation. Though I'm the one who ended up with a girlfriend, an in-game wife and a mistress, a top guild, though all of it was nearing a decade ago in TW server (we were all NA players). The girl lives in my garage, which I've been more than happy to convert into a comfortable living space for her, though she struggles with college and a part time job even after a decade.

As a high-level player, I found Adv HM dungeons a ton of fun. To solo. If I brought anybody, shit just got nuked too fast. Especially if they were also mages.
But getting passes was a pain in the ass. THAT was the big problem of late-game Mabi, most of the actually fun stuff was locked behind passes you had to grind more boring quests that I've vastly overleveled for. That's what killed the Alban Training Grounds for me.
People ran theatre missions not just because they were lucrative, but because NPC Tourney was extremely readily available. It and the Apostle raid were the most challenging things in the game that didn't need a pass aside from Raid Boases, and not everyone wanted to level the Crusader skills.

Passes? Those are super easy to farm just through normal dungeon running. Most of the time my friends and I would just run dungeon after dungeon after dungeon because we'd get random ass passes from every run.
And the fact theatre missions drop gems and lods of emone was the reason anyone I knew ran them. NPC tourney was pretty fun though.

Normal-level dungeons are EXTREMELY boring when you're endgame. You ride into a room on a mount, you open the chest/hit the switch to summon half a dozen monsters, they all die to a normal shot from your Dowras, you grab the key and ride to the next room.
Once you get an Adv pass, you're more or less good for the rest of the day, but if you want to keep doing that dungeon tomorrow you have to either afk in the dungeon overnight or go through the whole process again.
Or you can just buy a Maid and hope one of her daily gifts is a pass for something fun.

So I've never played Mabi, but always wanted to. Is there any kind of level-scaling? I know about reincarnating but I'm just wondering how easy it'll be to play with you guys once you're all level a million and I'm 12.
I've joined a few games where everyone make a new char and gets tons of exp, then you miss a single party and can never catch up again.
Every 6 days you can rebirth your character which resets your level back to 1
Each level you get AP to level up skills, there are other ways to get AP which are either from doing exploration, storyline quests, participating in events that may have xp bottles, waiting for double ap events, etc.
Total Level is irrelevant if you don't manage your skills properly and don't have the proper stats given from each skill.

Try "briefly stuns". The status cure effect is pretty helpful though.

I've run most of them hundreds or thousands of times over the years and AP has lost any meaning to me since all skills are ranked. I have to say this game's about 100x more playable now that they give you a free mount on top of a book that just gives you all the teleports up-front. The biggest fucking challenge last time I played was finding shit to do while your character was running to the next quest point a literal mile away.
If it werent because the fucking game deleted over 700 of my potent fine shadow crystals out of nowhere, i would still be playing it.

This, I remember doing Generations 1 and 2 with only an Eagle mount because I didn't realize Uladh didn't have an airspace. It was torture.
The starter package is actually pretty good, Bone Dragon being best and coolest combat pet, cloud a fast mount on air and ground and lets low-level characters get their stamina back, and the Premium results in you getting some dyes which are super valuable now compared to in the past.

Am I able to experience all the story quests that were available in the past? I'm really not a fan of basic fetch quests as a means of progressing but when you add in a shitty anime storyline, somehow I don't notice the grind. I figure if I join now and play the story quests start to finish that'd be masses of content.
Oh, and I noticed people saying Archery is expensive, but Alchemy uses mats too, are they more affordable? I tried mabi years ago and didn't like melee combat all that much, so I'm probably going to use ranged or magic if I can.

The only questlines not available anymore are the original elf and giant transformation quests. To get their transformations, they just follow G2 like everyone else, and not much was lost in that questline anyways, so an improvement.
That said, yes. Every single storyline from the start is available. Archery is expensive in the sense that it takes a retarded amount of time to git gud in because of its reliance on dexterity. You have to do lifeskills that take an autismal amount of time and money. Then, archery requires the gear, and that shit's retarded expensive as well with the celtic royal crossbow or bhafel hunter. This isn't even factoring the hundreds of dollarydoos for reforges.
Alchemy, on the other hand, is nowhere near as intensive, but, it's not really impressive either. If you're set on it, it's not too bad, but I'd recommend starting with magic so you're set with good offensive tools, whereas alchemy would later provide utility to compliment magic.

The two-handed sword is already a moneysink. Should've bought a dragon blade if money is an issue, the 99% repair on the dragon blade is cheaper than the 95% repair on the two-handed sword. G1-3 is the most important story arc, and is the part of the game where the story actually makes fucking sense.
G4~7 are alright, and then G8 onwards is just pure retardation, nearly on par with DBZ powerlevel wanking. It doesn't get good again until G17. I personally prefer the celtic/irish feel of the uladh quests, but Iria's a nice change of pace once you get through all the elf/giant bullshit fucking no one cares about.

You're probably thinking of how G1-3 is sometimes referred to as Chapter 1. The two parts of Saga basically make up G18. You can access it through the clapperboard button on your menu bar. I recommend doing Saga 1 as soon as you can for the crazy AP and loot it gives, plus the free battle pegasus mount you get for finishing it.

Elves are pussies that have a ton of gear restrictions. Allegedly they get ranged bonuses but people only play them for the elf ear fetish.
Giants get huge melee bonuses and can equip shields with 2h weapons, but can't use most ranged and magic abilities.
Humans are "balanced" and can do everything. What this means is that they can dual wield and telefrag everything on the map before anyone else in your party has begun to catch up.

Played a few years ago. Forgot even what server.
All I remember is that the delay on my skills got me killed and I always died in like 2 hits to nearly every mob, and Gen 1 and 2 were so long and annoying. I'm fairly certain I got to the end of Gen 1 and couldn't clear the dungeon and no one was EVER going to run it to help.

G1/2/3 are much easier, a lot of the bullshit tedium has either been toned town or even outright removed. Travel times are much better because you get a warp book as a beginner that can take you to any moon gate, whether you've been there or not.
There's still some off latency in the combat, though. Same old "spam-click windmill on the ground and still get killed by a basic attack" or "smash an enemy who's in defense only to get basic attacked despite the defense icon still being active" game as always
