SFIV had a couple of awkward animations and faces in Vanilla but the game as a whole had some of the best art direction period. Everything blended in extremely well. Dimps really pulled off the look they were going for. SFIV was clearly a game with a damn good budget and was shipped complete. The worst thing about SFIV were the some of the DLC costumes.
Meanwhile SFV looks and feels like an outsourced game. Sure it has some of the best 3D fighting game animations ever but the models look awkward as fuck, the art style is sterile and lacks personality, the UI is straight up looks like a place holder for a prototype demo and a lot of the textures look like trash.
If you think SFIV looked bad then that's your own opinion. The game's art was objectively extremely well executed and the animations were great barring a few moves.

The models would've looked so much better on a background that isn't eye cancer. I'm more and more convinced training stage is the best stage of SFV due to how little models clash with background.

That's a pre release screenshot, the final game looked much better than that so I don't know why you posted it.
Also, again, I was talking purely from a technical point of view. Style is a matter of taste and I don't think SF4's style was bad at all, but that was not the point now. Again, find anything in SF4 that looks like the new zealand stage. SF4 actually looked great for its time. SFV has some great models, but the stages are embarassing. KOF XIV has better stages than SFV.
