sounds great but I doubt sonic team can manage that without spreading themselves too thin. The games that keep to one style seem to turn out better quality.
Characters like tails and knuckles may be a problem because their abilities may break the game. Levels would have to be designed around their abilities. Sonic 2006 tried this and perhaps it could've worked if the games development wasn't screwed.
I could see this working better if they kept to the sonic 'clones', like Blaze and Shadow.
