A major factor is probably what position your representative idol falls in. Also, please set up your idol teams in the event screen to properly represent their type attribute. This is just common courtesy to your team mates so that team synergy doesn't get fucked up.

It depends on how much better, given the way this "contribute" thing works. If he picked an idol unsuited for the role or isn't skilled up for that role, it reduces his point gain so even a FC won't guarantee a win, so if the others playing DID skill up their idols, even failing to FC could still bring them higher. Basically make sure your idols are in the right roles and start skilling them up.

Your idol gets stat boosts based on how high their "best slot" stat is.
From my observation, ranking seems to go as follows:
-SSR tiered characters will always be prioritized on the ranks, then SRs, Rs, etc.
-If you are the only SSR in the group, you will always rank 1st no matter how shitty you are, as long as you don't disconnect / fail.
-In the tiers, the person with the highest score will be placed higher.
Example:
High Scores:
R Uzuki scores 750,000
SR Karen scores 650,000
SSR Ranko scores 500,000
SR Shiki scores 400,000
SSR Kirari scores 350,000
The SSRs would take priority in ranking, so it would be:
1) SSR Ranko at 500,000
2) SSR Kirari at 350,000
Next would be:
3) SR Karen at 650,000
4) SR Shiki at 400,000
And finally, even though the player did a FC:
5) Uzuki at 750,000
This is just what I've experienced, FC'ing using an SR chara in several teams of SSRs. Unless they disconnected or lost, I'd always end up 5th.
I'd like if someone else can confirm/deny.

For example, when playing a Cute Song with a Cute Center, would it be better to have a SR Event Nana or a SSR Ranko?
In terms of the raw power boost from the Vocalist Position, Ranko would be the far better choice.
But assuming that the Center has the skill of boosting all Cute Vocals by 90%, I'm sure that the SR Event Nana would be the better choice in that scenario.

I don't like this event. I feel like I have absolutely no control over getting the drops. In ranking events I can play a lot and am almost guaranteed at least a single star ranking SR. In caravans I'm confident in my 15 star centers. But in this, I can play perfectly, but get paired with a bunch of shitters and get shit for it.

The trick to getting a high rank is finding the best card to augment the position you selected and being augmented by a good center skill by chance of luck.
