RB1 is only good for two things : the plot is actually good, and it's a nice introduction to the characters. RB2 expects you to know them from the beginning.

There's no achievement system like in RB3.
No blocks either, you have to spam the search button to find one item.
But the most infuriating things of all are the plans. And the viral enemies.
To use, let's say, the Destroy Symbol Plan, you need items. Items that you can't find anywhere. So to unlock these items, you need another plan. And to get the items to make the plan to unlock the items to make the plan, you need to unlock a specific dungeon.
And there's no documentation ingame about where to find stuff.

If you don't level properly and skip fights too much (which is easy to do), viral enemies will be stronger than you.
Add to this the fact that an enemy going viral recovers all HP.
Add to this the fact that an enemy going viral means that others enemies will go viral very quickly.
Add to this the fact that escaping is totally random and I swear it's like a 10% chance it works.
Add to this the fact that the game hates your guts and will gladly make you miss while giving critical to the monsters.
Add to this the fact that there's NO WAY at all to know if Compa or IF are in range of the monster of not.
Add to this the fact that there's no auto-save.
Add to this the fact that viral enemies are assholes that will crit IF, Compa or MAGES and oneshot her.
That should give you a good idea of how shitty viral enemies are.
