Here's how to fix Defend Order
First of all I suggest a new name:

What exactly are you supposed to do before you get to the point where you can hit hard enough to be able to gear up with reknown?
I'm stuck with like 2-12 renown at best per raid I join. Luck in terms of characters and gear has not been kind to me. I'd like to go as close to mono element as possible but I'm just not getting drops and not getting enough renown to get them from the shop.
As a general picture I'm rank 63 with <35k power. Mostly earth, story and event SRs and no earth SSR (or even weapons) to speak of.

You might need to cheese very hard with elixirs to get Sophie, which may be hard if you're just starting out, and arguably not worth wasting the elixirs for.
You should be able to get Yuri's loyalty no problem since there's still some time left in the event. Just put him in every party you make.
Just do the main quest to level up since there's an AP discount, or do co-op.
Check the guide for which SSR to choose.

Just go through story mode and uncap your units. Get DF as soon as possible. For reference, I'm rank 28 right now with 11k power. I can beat very hard without Grande or any specific team, so you should be fine even if you're not exactly at that point yet.
Once you reach 20 or so, if you're power is still on the low side attempt to do very hard when Grande is available as support summon. Continue with the story if she's not to built up CP points for DF.
By the way don't use your skills on the mobs before the boss. Built up you Ougi so you can chain burst when your using Grande to heal your party.
