those messages are normal. You don't have to trim the unneeded scripts since if there's no such .pp it's skipped. Post the hair_highlighter_out.txt log somewhere so I can look at it. Chances are your setup is incorrect.
Also before you do that make sure you're at the most recent version of HEXAOC and the highlighter itself

True. I know the gist of modding from learning myself, but the Hongfire SB3U glossary and other resources they have are SHIT. It took me hours to wade through that and figure out everything. And that's with a extensive understanding of basic modding from before AA2 was even released.
Things like porting assets/3d rooms/whatever from other games could be covered with a guide instead of everyone having to figure it out themselves. I mean it's not impossible to figure it out, but it's unbelievably time consuming because the information is not available in a concise manner. It's buried in a billion posts on hongfire, in 4chan archives, etc.
The problem is that Hongfire modders benefit from this, to them modding is a status symbol so having the information obscured and hidden inside huge threads raises the barrier to entry. Which increases the status value of being a modder. It's harder to get into it.
Then again, I don't really give a shit either way.

Closed circle philosophy implies that people keep the knowledge to themselves. I don't think anyone does that but I seldom go to HF(I've literally 0 posts there) so maybe they do. I do understand that it's a pain in the ass to write a comprehensive guides and I personally have trouble making working readmes already. The way I approach making a particular mod is finding some other mod that does something similar and reverse-engineer how it works. I find it to be the best way to go about it and the most necessary skill a modder should have. Again if anyone has specific questions about some mod people(I project here) tend to answer them.

The problem isnt guides on how to make mods but how to use tools, and that every sort of guide there is assumes that the reader has some knowledge of the subject already, which wouldn't matter if it weren't for the fact that the main modding tool we have is proprietary software that only a few people even understand.
Just for example, look at sviex, a generally difficult concept to grasp, the only "official" guide for it assumes you already know how to use the sviex tool, which has no instructions itself, so people new to modding are either dissuaded out of the gate or bruteforce it until it works and still don't understand it fully. And the few people who do know anything just tell you to read a guide instead of even trying to help because "if i had to do it so should you."

That method works for you and that's awesome, but it doesn't work for everyone. Some people will look at the same things you looked at and get completely overwhelmed, while if it was framed another way they'd "get" it and become contributing modders. Look at how many people still ask for tm's little one-post guides for basic modding tasks. That information is almost assuredly elsewhere on the net, but he phrased it in a way more people understood.

SB3U has a dumb interface yeah but still pretty easy to use once you get over the initial hurdle. It also has sources distributed as well.
Can't say much about sviex since my experience with them is limited by a single failed attempt at juggling which is considered the easiest part of sviex manipulation. And it's an old dumb format that Illusion already dropped anyway so there's no long-term benefit to figuring it out.

jesus, I made highlighter specifically so that you don't have to go through that shit. And it's probably the GUI being shit. It probably loads everything when you open .xx so you run out of memory quickly. Outliner has a similar issue because you edit a lot of submeshes, that's why scripts are broken in 2 parts.

You should tell me whenever I miss any in the script. Also since SB3UtilityScript just crashes when something goes wrong I can't make a version that will work on older versions of HEXAOC/HP/whatever because as soon as I try replacing a highlight in a non-existent .xx it crashes. As of now highlighter covers everything aside from a couple exceptions (namely Konata hair and Arc hair). And it's easier to write a script than doing that by hand - I even included the instructions.

Can you name their slots? I'll take a look at it and update the scripts if I missed them.
Having a stand-alone version of hairs that are included in HEXAOC will make it look like it didn't work but you're actually just looking at the stand-alone version that's not covered so check for that.
The "for hair modders.txt" has the necessary script commands to make your own stand-alone script. You basically make a new jg2e02_blahblah.txt, copy the lines there and replace the numbers to correspond to your slot. The legend describes which "variables" correspond to what so that you can simply mass-replace them with what should be there.
The script itself basically consists of 3 sections:
1. set up - it opens the .pp and assigns a GUItexture variable that will store the texture you're gonna assign everywhere.
2. replacing the textures for all the .xx that you want to process. Included are examples for some unspecified slot and it's flip so you MUST remove the flip if you don't have it or it will crash.
3. a single line that saves the changes to the .pp
It's all relevant if you're writing a script for a new hair(i.e. in it's own .pp) but you can launch the script manually by drag and dropping it on SB3UtilityScript.exe with the texture and .pp next to it.

front 149 is properly covered by highlighter. If you have jg2e02_00_Hairs.pp you might be seeing that so I suggest you remove it since all it's hairs are in the HEXAOC already. It might be simply be the case of jg2e02_00_Hairs script crashing because my version is different from yours and TManon is bad at versioning his mods. Basically remove all jg23_..._Hairs.pps

I don't see your logs for the scripts but your folder structure looks correct. Post the log and maybe try method 2 - it's more consistent because it moves files for you.

I don't even have those. The only hair .pps I have are _HEXA/_HEXAOC and _0PD. The rest is standard. Then it seems like I fucked something up somewhere along the line. Though, I truly have no idea where, considering it's pretty much only running a .bat file.

If you're using the "enhanced" SB3U you can uncomment the Echo lines in the script (use notepad++ or something similar so you can just replace all occurences) so that I know which exact hair is causing problems

if you can open an .xx in SB3U then updating .NET won't change anything. Still a good idea to do it though.
The point of there being 2 methods is that you have to somehow show the batch where the .pps and scripts are located.
The first method makes you move the files to the folders next to the batch and then move them back when they're processed. It's more sandboxed so if everything went wrong you will still have your original files untouched and can't blame me.
The second method requires you to type your folders paths yourself so that the batch will do all the moving for you. It's more automated but it gets files directly from your data folder and people have the game in different paths so it's an alternative method even though it's a better one.
And don't forget that it's very dependent on the version of both the scripts and the mods.

is an Arc front hair and is intentionally omittedbecause I have a VIP version and it's pre-colored and I hoped no one would notice. Just copy the lines from some nearby hairslot and change the numbers

are a weird case because they exist in both the dolls pack and HEXAOC. When I made the update I saw that these are moved to the separate pack and removed them from the HEXAOC script but they're still there in the .pp itself. You can just copy the lines from the jg2e02_00_0PD3 to the jg2e02_00_HEXAOC and they will be highlighted regardless of which file actually loads. I'll keep it out until this slot conflict is resolved.

are the Yukiho(?) and Akane(?) hairs and are pre-colored. I assumed the authors wanted them to use those particular highlights and these hairs can't reasonably be used in combination with other hairpieces.
