Life is Strange is an episodic interactive drama from DONTNOD Entertainment. Does anyone know how the textures for the /vg/ league team are coming along? Is there anything we have to do?

I would think that right now most of the resources at Dontnod are devoted to finishing Vampyr. At most, the LiS team is sitting around the discussing ideas for plots and powers in S2.
I don't think SE is involved with Vampyr so they won't say anything about it. If Dontnod mentions anything about it will be a general announcement. I don't even know if they have a reveal planned for Vampyr since the publisher doesn't seem as big as SE is.

Of course they are, it will just take a few years. LiS was wildly successful and did better than they ever imagined. It probably won't be connected to the first season, but they will reuse the format for a new cast and setting.

There's no way these threads will last another year until Season 2's release. Only options are to try to push on until Vampyr and then be /dndg/ (DONTNOD General) or go as long as we can, fade away, and then reconvene /lisg/ as Season 2 begins ~2018.

The parts of the game that got me to tear up were both in episode 4; when Chloe asks you to help her die (Which confirmed the fears I got after looking around the house) and finding Rachel. I watched the ending where Chloe dies on YouTube and couldn't even get sad, it just aggravated me how contrived it was and how much more effort was put into it to try to give some "meaning".
Not many movies have made me actually cry, but a few episodes of Futurama get me.

And so I did read that Dandybear fic. Powerful imagery indeed, but, well, let me first get this out of the way: I don't think the characterization of Rachel here is canonically too valid. Both the letter she's given to Frank and the one she's left for Chloe paint a picture of a troubled girl that was not in control of her life or the people in it, or her feelings for them for that matter. More so than deliberately hurting people, I think she - much like Max is said to here - stumbles around trying to navigate herself and her edges through the soft tissue of the lives she can't help but get mixed in with - can't help because she is naturally charming and socially high-functioning, not because she'd have practiced it. And because she genuinely felt something for them.
The idea of her biting off more then she can chew with Jefferson works, be it as the vampire character that tastes strange blood and gets sick or as the popular girl that falls in love with someone that is not susceptible to her charm. Although again, the nature of her relationships here follows interpretations that go beyond and at times against canonical fact. Nathan drugged and tied Rachel trying to copy Jefferson. Jefferson probably liked fucking her and being with her and that's that; he merely "salvaged" the Dark Room situation once he found it, or so the canonical implication seems to go.
Her involvement with Nathan and Victoria is obviously extrapolated. There are things to extrapolate from (Nathan was friendly with her, "fell in lust" with her; Victoria is upset with her for some reason), but Dandy shapes the nature of their relationship to conveniently fit her interpretation, rather than the other way around.

But there's something to be said about how characterally she could have been somewhat of that vampire rather than a mere chamaeleon, i. e. getting involved with people predatorily and with ulterior motives, not purely as a means of survival, defense or coping mechanism for her own issues.
I know you like to pay attention to the more pessimistic sides of the characters, and there's merit to that. The fic does a great job utilizing fitting imagery to highlight some of those sides. I just think what's truly tragic here is how blind her Rachel is to the all the more optimistic and hopeful sides of these people, which ultimately would be the root of her own misery.
Is Chloe cursed to have a depressing life and become bitter? Admittedly Max is a significant variable, but even regardless of that I just don't think that's true. We've seen her bloom. She has so much potential and will to live and love just below her dyed and dirtied shell. She can face and be able to overcome her demons at some point.
Is Frank's "rebellion" empty and doomed to fail one way or another? In the game rather than rebel against his parents, we see him trying to rebel against himself. He wants to stop selling drugs and not be such a fuckup anymore; he rescued the dog, helped Chloe and later Max. The neck scar tattoo he gets in the end possibly symbolizing that he "killed" his old self.
Is Victoria broken and never to overcome her inadequacy, or break free from expectations put on her? She has talent, that much we are supposed to believe. And between that, her parents having a gallery and the fact that she can step out of herself and see unprententiously one of her biggest character flaws has me optimistic about her finding a future she doesn't feel like she doesn't belong or was pushed into.

Nathan is the most broken and tragic character because he already has and is fucked up. But even with him all is not lost. People have left him alone and his illness run rampant. But that only means nobody ever even tried to fix him. Victoria is oblivious to or at least in denial of the severity of his problems. His psychologist does not get to treat him like he wants to. Max and the experiences of the week can already bring about a fair bit of lucidity and feelings of regret and shame for Nathan. Given proper therapy, all of this indicates there is hope for "recovery" for him.
Her hatred for Max would be equally as tragically blind. She talks about Max perfecting her "technique" with ease and without intent. Well, that's called kindness and trying to be there for people because you just feel compelled to, not because they represent opportunities or fun.
The only truly tragic character in this story is Rachel. This Rachel is bitter through and through and thinks herself above and beyond these people, not realizing that the joke was always on her. All these people could lead lives more fulfilling than whatever she thought would be hers, and in thinking they couldn't ever be happy or make her happy she made them and herself miserable. Fitting that she would despise Max, because Max is happy and makes people happy. I can see this Rachel throwing a tornado at Max out of toxic spite and go "Try and make everyone happy now!".
If any character is doomed in this story, maybe it was her. "Drinking the blood of people" until she found the one with poison in his veins as if she'd had a deathwish all along - wanting people to destroy her like she does them. Maybe this was a form of righteous rage similar to Max's after all; a self-hatred, clinging to Jefferson and to the thought of running away to L.A. precisely because she saw something in them that would ruin her.

But then we also see she has caring side and tried to comfort Kate, works extremely hard, and only buys the drugs to keep herself going so that she can get away from her abusive family (She works for Jefferson and Votex Club to get the money). For a character we only talk to a few times, they really crammed a lot in and it worked. At least for me. Since I felt bad for her and wanted to see her succeed and have a better life.

It was when she went further back, after time had passed on and then events had established outcomes, that she ran into the problems of everything being fucked up (At least to her since to everyone else, that was reality).

The too many unknowns part is correct, but they fucked up by conflating chaos theory and some idea of yin-yang/karma balance where saving someone necesitates future suffering. It was similarly likely that saving William would have resulted in him buying a winning lottery ticket solving the Price family's financial woes to Chloe getting in a car accident. Similarly, it was stupid that sacrificing Chloe made everything else tie up perfectly (eg having allowed a tragedy to occur results in follow on good outcomes).
