Whenever I play Italy I just pull them all out, you won't be able to send ships through the Suez canal unless you control the province of course. Just leave this area of Africa to Ethiopia. They'll probably get overrun but it's entirely irrelevant since, at least in Hoi3 their capital is the only VP in close by.
I'd focus on other shit, if you invade the British isles you'll get your shit back anyways.

I don't know how it works in Heart of Iron 4 but Romania has an oil refinery in 3 and Iraq has a fuck ton of oil. They're both closer, especially if you annex Turkey since you can just walk into Iraq. If it works like Heart of Iron 3 then Yemen and so on will be allies so you'll have to annex them anyways if you fuck aroud with the Brits and want to win.
Joining Axis depends on what you want to do, in HoI3 it's good for lower neutrality and research/supply bonuses. Just make you sure you don't accept German offers to join the war until you're ready or you'll get rekt no doubt.
You could just do your thing and wait if what happens in the East, if Germany gets rekt by the Soviets invade Germany for IC and if they don't join Axis and invade the Soviets.

Obviously HOI4 wasn't out yet so I never worked on that part but I did take a look at HOI3 to get a general idea on what I would have to convert. That's when shit started going down on the general so I stopped.
There isn't that much to convert and I could probably get the first version out in 1 month. I just don't want to be involved in the shitstorm a HOI4-Stellaris converter would cause right now so I'm gonna wait 1 or maybe even 2 years till I start working on it again. I honestly don't think that will happen. /gsg/ is one of the oldest generals on /vg/ and one of the largest, if it did ever die there would probably be remnants and in that case I would go to wherever HOI4 is.
Let's say /gsg/ completely dies with no remnants/offshoots. Then I'd probably just scrap it altogether or just release it on my own site. I could never release my shit at the forums or Reddit. /gsg/ has disappointed me numerous times before, but not as much as in the present with the shameless and visceral attack on Hearts of Iron IV. Why on earth need a bunch of alienated, nihlistic young adults with social maladjustment spend their short, numbered days attacking a video game that fails to live up to their arbitrary standards? Good or not, the ideal game /gsg/ imagines is unattainable. These people spend their time bemoaning the lack of polish and features to a game that nonetheless be accepted and enjoyed by the vast majority, and push for features that will only be found in their imaginary ideal game. Most of the hairs split by these posters are indeed confined to the realm of fantasy. They see themselves as the arbiter of taste in the medium yet have no experience or qualifications in creating content to justify their insatiable thirst for perfection. Their very bodies tremble at the thought that normal people such as you or I may find fun in something they deem to be so disingenuous and flawed in its nature. What you or I see in good, valuable content to them appears twisted and distorted. Ultimately the posters who so viciously attack games made by passionate people in the industry are channeling their own frustrations at never being given the chance to create the game that lives up to their impossible standards. This, and this alone, is the true reason that /gsg/ has continued to be a source of insecure, disagreeable young 'gamers'; a term I use loosely for these people, in their hatred, have lost the true spirit of what it means to be a gamer in the end.
I have one problem from playing HOI3 and that is, that i usually have to clean up a clusterfuck of divisions all over the map.
Is this resolved or at least stream lined in hoe4?
I mean i understand for historical reasons they do that but fuck it's irritating.
Even if i merge divisions i end up with 4 infantry brigades in one division, which are fantastic at getting killed anywhere but woods.

Been playing hoi4 as Peru on recruit for first play and it's been good fun since it's the only one that starts out fascist. Took Ecuador and I've spent the last couple of years strengthening up. The world war started over Italy wanting Greece so I didn't even have Poland when I ended up at war with France.
I transferred Republican Spain and African provinces to Nationalist Spain/Italy to prevent some of the border gore though

Historically their troop quality was average to great, but constantly hampered by officers forced into service or not giving enough of a fuck about their men.
For example

If i remember correctly their San Marco marines also made the worlds first frogmen, and they've got a pretty good ship tonne:casualty ratio going on.

i litearlly gave you some points on how the strategical ai is terrible
naval inasions are also busted and the allies will only ever try the same 3 or 4 provinces in france so if you put your divions on them they'll literally never invade
AI germany also just does not care about air superiority in western europe and will let the allies carpet bomb everything with only AA
again, I don't think the AI is competent enough to even accomplish simple things in a reasonable time, like the fall of france, without player intervention
