I'm almost there. Over 2 pages of saves and I've finally neared the last part of Starless.
Problem is I can't find the will to play it. The sex sounds and BGM are haunting my dreams and all the /d/ tier stuff that I could get off to early in the game has become repulsing.
I also checked the flowchart and realized I'm on my way to the bad ending.
They should split /vn/ and create another general just for all ages desu. I don't like sharing room with these degenerates.

No it was good and I love fast paced things but there were a few flaws besides it being way too short. It brings up the argument about security/order vs freedom/emotions but he did that a lot better in psychopass. The gun kata thing with the specific impossible measurements and reaction times was a turn off, way too anime for me. A huge plus was the ending, but even that was also strikingly similar to Saya no Uta. All in all it felt like he couldn't decide if he wanted to make a sweet action VN or something pretty deep, and compromised.
For something to be the best to me has to have a message I can think about for a while and Swan Song had a lot of human themes strewn throughout. Plus the ending was perfect. Second ''''''''''true''''''' ending is obviously way worse but can still be appreciated for what it TRIED to do.
I don't search out VNs for a message or deep meaning obviously but it's a nice bonus and I was impressed that something like Swan Song was possible for a jap porn game

Tokyo Babel was pretty good if you look at it from a theology standpoint. Pretty accurate representations and even some philosophy thrown in. Action scenes sucked but whatever, they usually do. Loads of regular choices are pretty nice though. They lead to the same end but they add spice to one's reading. Tsukihime/Fate and Clannad are pretty good about this.

Does anyone else feel like the extremely high level of emotional intelligence and insight into character provided by extensive reading of visual novels is starting to negatively influence their own human relationships?
Every time my friends tell me about their feelings my first instinct is grimace slightly, because so often their feelings are more simplistic and base than the most shallow of visual novel characters. I seriously had a friend rave about this girl he met, and his dialogue was word-for-word the stuff every dating simulator protagonist has ever said about anything. Needless to say, I called him stereotypical and he looked pretty hurt. After explaining how everything he's feeling has been felt a hundred times over, and is really as banal as the hunger one feels for breakfast, he seemed to cool down but I dunno if he's gotten over it. Another time I heard my parents arguing (I still live with them) pretty hotly, and it was obvious the subject they were so fervently disagreeing over was trivial and they were just letting emotions control their behaviour like children. I spoke up and explained how to resolve the problem (using some integrative complexity) and the fighting stopped, though they didn't seem to pleased with my intervention. Shit like this is really making it hard to maintain relationships. It's like I'm a hundred years older (and thus wiser) than everyone else, which makes all this feel like I'm attempting to maintain friendship with elementary schoolers far below my emotional intelligence. All my "real" friends are fast becoming those of similar intelligence to me, which frankly are just the characters written long-dead authors and eroge scenarists. Because the original language always sounds better for every medium, no matter what. Movies made in German do not sound right when they are dubbed over in English and vice versa. The true feelings and intent from the creator are heard best through the original voice actors as those of the ones that they can influence the most to properly fit their vision. It doesn't matter if you cannot fully understand the language because you can easily understand intent and emotion in any language. Besides, seiyuu in Japan are highly paid idols with years of extensive training and highly competitve work while the people who dub Japanese work in English are the same 20 or so people who couldn't cut it as true voice actors for cartoons or animated movies.
