I guess you make a good point, many offensive ults feel kind of brainless at times, but I think a lot of them are centered around positioning and timing that they're okay, especially Pharah. Lucio and Mercy just feel like easymode game changers that just require you to be near your team with no real thought or strategy behind them, and they are both such impactful ults. Sound Barrier carries offensive pushes and Mercy's ult can literally undo the work of the enemy team's ult comboing during a team fight. They're both a little annoying, but Mercy's particularly irritates me because when used on defense it just slows the game down imo.

Exactly. A cast time is so desperately needed for her. Lucio has a small window where you can kill him, as do most heroes. But Mercy has literally no window to be interrupted. Q, then people are rezzed, no questions asked. It's pretty obnoxious imo. You can see the bitch fly in but if you don't deal 200 damage before she gets in range, which is really difficult, then she gets the rez off.
Sonic Barrier isn't all bad, yeah. Encourages team coordination and all, and breaks stalemates well. I do wish it was a little bit less good maybe, but it's in a good place.

Na, that's lame. Let her stack up three shots when not firing so your first shot after a boost packs a bigger punch. That way you can chase better, bully better, or jump in and and make sure to kill one person before you ult and scatter but fail to kill the rest of the team.

It's mainly attack vs. defense or koth for mercy.
Attack will have too many people spread out or too many flankers for her to be effective, and rezs can be hit or miss.
On defense she can be godly, enemy team just wasted 4 ults to push the point / payload and got 3-5 kills? Heroes never die and it 180's the tempo of the match, maybe even makes in unwinable.

Soldier isn't particularly forgiving since he's basically a free kill for decent players if he doesn't know how to rocket jump, which is much harder than pressing shift. If we're talking about 6v6 where rollouts are important, then the level of skill required is very high.
