I've played with semi-pros for a long time, back then we'd nonstop try our best to be successful on our side before 20 mins and analyze our replays to see how badly we last hit or what we failed at as it was super important to be perfect.
Today that does barely exist, nowadays people will just rely on a hero that can get some lvls from a fight and carry.
I know it's hard for you to understand since you weren't there back then and never played in higher brackets.

I'm on an about 22 game loss streak. At some point I started giving up and barely playing. I really, really want to play, but practically every game just...doesn't happen.
What are some heroes that I can use to dominate a game in the early/mid game?
I tried pudge and I easily got beyond godlikes, but the enemy just outpaced us cause I couldn't close or push or anything.
I tried warlock but I get thrown as a solo support so I can't actually push with the golens.
I tried furion but no one seems to understand rat tactics and the team composition never seems to work for a furion pick.
I tried earthshaker but I seem to always get fucked by some carry, even if I can practically take out all the rest.
What's left?
