From what I can tellAlphys thought combining monster souls would naturally create determination. All it really did was prolong the inevitable, which is becoming dust. You could tell all of them were falling apart in some way, and have memories of multiple monsters. This all started with Asriel losing his monster soul, and absorbing Chara's determined soul. After, Alphys attempted to save it's "determination" by injecting it into the vessle golden flower. As a means for experimentation

If anything, they like her too and even worry that she'll end up going the same way Gaster did.
