Think about it. Beast rushes face pretty hard but runs out of hand fairly quick around mid game. Opponent is on low health and you have 2 cards in hand. You drop AoW and now the opponent is forced to deal with it cause he knows each turn its alive is 5 damage to his single digit health. When he fianlly deals with it, you would have drawn into damage from hand or something

Yogg and N'Zoth are legendaries that are also wincons, there are a lot of decks that are built around just castung either of those.
Fandal and Twin Emperor both play big roles in C'Thun decks, although they aren't 100% needed for the decks to function, like Yogg and N'Zoth for their respective decks.
Justicar is good in a lot of decks as well, but not priority unless you want to play wallet warrior.
Thalnos is good to have, but can be substituted for. Also, since he is in classic packs, you might open him eventually.
If I were to rank them, I'd say:
1.N'Zoth
2.Emperor
3.Yogg
4.Justicar
5.Fandal
You should craft the legendary you need for the deck you want to play the most.

Yeah, it was funny in the early days of whispers to see people try to cobble together fragments of the old freeze and tempo mage. Mage is by FAR the least viable class even below Preist-cuck.

I disagree. Freeze mage is good if played correctly. As scary as it seems, warrior is not that bad of a matchup anymore since Tempo is horrendous against us. Only bad MUs for the deck atm are face decks ( face shaman/warrior ) and the remaining control warriors on the ladder.
Other than that, you would be surprised at the viability of the deck.
