Yes it's good, just don't go in expecting the hyped up "Pokemon killer" aspect. Kotaku started the phrase for clickbait and it worked. They aren't the same game at all, just two games in the monster catching genre. If you want an explanation on the battle system, someone can fill you in, don't worry the demo was indeed shit and not a good representation of how you'll go through the game.

Eh. Comparisons are a little tough outside of the monster collection aspect, though YW's battle system is hella different, yet a bit more simple than Pokémon. Plotwise YW remains an episodic slice of life while Pokemon is an adventure story. That difference is more notable in the anime. Graphicswise YW looks pretty damn good, though it helps that Level5 has done a lot more 3d games than Game Freak. Exploration wise YW has a bit more freedom to look around town aside from the main quest than Pokémon did in their recent games. However, scale of exploration is different as pokemon has you traveling the world while YW has you exploring one big town, at least in the first game.
Tldr one's a comedy and the other is adventure. Choose the genre you like more or get both.

The demo is usually considered a weak representation of the full game. You would probably like it i think.
Befriending all the youkai can take a good deal of time and there are plentiful sidequests to do alongside the main one. Doing all these things took me well over the 60 hour mark, but the main quest itself is also pretty meaty.

Depends on your goals. If you just want to beat the story, not too long, though doing sidequests and exploring arond town can take a good 100 hours or so. If you're trying to befriend them all, add more to that number.

Then I'd suggest it. I'm a Pokemon fan too and fell in love with the game. Robonyan and Goldenyan had high pitched voices in the first game. However, the anime (JP) revealed that Robonyan can modify his voice to make it deep. In YW2, Robonyan's voice is much deeper, and adds in 'voice change!' when looking at his medal.
Goldenyan retained its high pitched voice in JP, and I think she was confirmed a girl in the AU Fumi episode.
The US version has both with deep male voices instead of higher pitched ones though.Interestingly, wibwob goldenyan has a high pitched nyan sound effect when attacking compared to Robonyan's robot nyan sound effect, so there might be a possible change in 2.

I noticed something weird today.
I went to my local target and picked up as series 1 pack to replace Komasan (Yes, I'm that anon) and I got him. But that's not my point. I got Azure Dragon and was going to put him in the little legendary/favorites cardboard slot thing that comes with the Medalluim, but it didn't fit in it. Apparently that medal was misprinted and the grey plastic was slightly thinner than the rest of the medals. Has anyone else noticed this with their Hasbro stuff?

For starters, you still have yet to get stuff that can be fused.

You still lack the youkai / items needed to do fusions, which is why none are listed. Fusion items are rare drops or event rewards, but who knows when those will pop up again.
As for saving ymoney you might want to spend it on the double chance event going on now until the 7th. These things probably wont happen often.
And soultimate use is pretty varied, most youkai have viable soultimates if you level them up by befriending them multiple times. Which is definitely the best way to go about it. Save your Souls Secrets books for legendaries, as they're the only ones that cant be grinded.
