I think it actually means not damaging any of the tanks, and not shooting while being in the spot to trigger it. You can fire on a power-up carrier at the very beginning of 1-1 hugging the side of the screen and still get the train, for example.

Update to Twinkle Star Sprites fiasco
They patched it about an hour ago, and the slowdown seems to have been fixed. The resolution options have been fixed too, no longer resetting after closing out the game.
Haven't been able to try out online yet. I can give this port a pretty solid recommendation now.

In R-type I want to have the button for shooting working normally on one of my pad's buttons and I want it to be autofiring when I press a different button on my pad.
So I want to make a custom button for the autofire. I go into the custom buttons menu and assign "1" to [custom button 1], so that is points to [P1 button 1], because this is the one that shoots in R-Type. I then setup autofire for this custom button and go into input - general again to assign the correct button on my pad to [custom button 1].
This doesn't work, pressing the button on my pad has no effect. How do I make [custom button 1] point to [P1 button 1] in general input?

Playtime has nothing to do with update, fucktard. The only possibility would be if he played the non-steam version of the game before, but since the person only plays VNs or whatever and no shmups, that's very unlikely.
Also, if you really think that the time you spend makes your performance better than mine, then you have no idea about this genre. I already beat your score much earlier than I actually played the game (also something around 20-30 hours), but once you hit a point where it really becomes difficult to improve, that's where playtimes can get really big.
