What you do is sit around pinging down enemy hp values until the mobile dickbags on your team can go and Kill Secure everything. Yes, it's a good idea for them to make sure the enemy is dead, but you still miss out on that satisfaction of having a great k/d ratio despite doing most of the work.

What experiment are they running? Zed has been 90+% banrate for almost a month now. Several champions have effectively crowded out dozens of others by being "generalists" that are better at the jobs "specialist" champions have.
If the experiment is a grand consolidation of the roster into 40 champs, maybe I see it.

Thus most players do not care as much about champions that exist to set up their team mates to get kills instead of simply getting kills themselves
You can't really blame them, the game itself doesn't really reward assists very much, especially in the late game. 50% of the gold divided among 4 members of your team feels like the participation trophy of team fights.
Also, the actual kills you DO get are not that exciting. Karthus does get some nice kills from his ult, but a lot of them are just skittle pops that he didn't even realize were going to kill an enemy, and almost every kill Aurelion Sol gets are just from his little boops. Contrast with Zed who does a full combo and then his mark explodes for like 1/3 of their health, Lux who gets a big fucking laser that pops her passive to take down three targets from half health, or Vayne who sees a tank that the rest of her team couldn't make a dent in and then every third hit she deals fucking shreds them.

Do you guys ever feel like the enforced meta of league is kind of boring? Looking at dota, those guys go through pushing metas, ganking metas, five man metas, 4 protect 1 metas, etc, all within the span of a year. Many different strategies are viable.
In league, it seems like the designers deliberately nerf anything that threatens to change the meta beyond which champions fill the top spots in the stale strategy.

compare dota, where new, unique builds are celebrated, or even receive buffs, and you can almost justify running any hero in the midlane.
Pros almost always switch lanes up and can run trilanes, or roamers, or dual mids, etc. While league has always been ADC to the bot with support, Tanky DPS to the top, AP mid, and Junglers, with no deviations that aren't punished by balance patches.
On the one hand, I like the stability that it provides, but on the other, that's getting quite boring to me.

the big changes (from my perspective as a support main) was when supports started getting gold and stopped having to spend all their gold on just wards. now you can play anything as a support as long as you have some cc. and a few traditional supports are not half bad solo laners because they can do even more with income both in terms of damage and because of scaling cc.
i really don't see it. the meta is not as enforced as people say it is. you don't need everyone to go "X GOES Y", you just need all your bases covered in terms of resource allocation, damage type, and cc/tank. high level/competitive play already swap lanes every which way, carry/tank from any lane, and have duo roamers. in the future, there might also be good reasons to have duo lane mid instead of in a side lane if it allows for better roaming/objective control and if you can still keep the side laner safe somehow.

I make plenty of mistakes yeah, but theres not much you can do when cait forgets to use summoners at level 2 for fb, then shaco runs bot and suicides and gives ezreal buffs. I did about as much as I could. It's always a worrying trend when you are against an entire team that blows summoners/ults to kill the support and gets away with it.

It's just a slight difference and you know it. That's nothing compared to the silly yet viable things in dota like ancient stacking heroes (literally gaining all of their experience and gold outside of the lane or jungle), or dual mids. It fits perfectly within the accepted Meta strategy of ADC to the bottom with support, Tanky DPS to the top, and AP mid with a jungler.
The fact that there's even accepted builds widely applicable to a lot of different heroes seems to only reinforce what I'm worried about. I just watched a dota VOD and the announcers were having fun trying to guess what item the pros would get. Imagine that: not knowing what build the pros would take going into the match. That seems so interesting to me.

the item build is a completely different issue. dota items give you actives. league items are big stat sticks. dota you buy the actives you need to get the combos you want. in league your spells scale with certain numbers and you buy the items with those numbers by default. where it differs is when you're buying resists and defensive actives.
items with better actives would be interesting, but that's a whole different can of worms than in dota because of spell scaling. if you go down that path you could have different builds that sacrifice scaling in favor of actives (something that supports already do, actually, just their actives aren't as impactful as dota ones) vs builds that's just FULL DPS BIG NUMBERS using stat sticks. but if you need to fill a particular niche in a particular comp vs a particular comp, there will always be just a few ideal builds found/transmitted by players quickly.

I had a promo series, made it out of B2. My play is improving somewhat. I think I'm a lot better at forcing towers now.
First game was a Morg top against Ekko. The Ekko didn't really make good use of his Q, tried to use it to shove the lane too much. I could pool minions and keep up because I got to build Catalyst while he was building MR to slow pool/DFT. Blitz hooked me into his team and I got to ult three people.
Second game I had to play Ahri mid against a Zed because our support wanted Morg. Bot lane went MIA and I guessed they were doing dragon. I'd managed to force zed to base. Q'ed the 3 on dragon, killed one, had to back, then went back in. Our Panth had enough time to get close and ult. Zed was a major problem. I can't get the hang of charming his ult.
If you're mid, it's the correct call to roam when you jungler is doing not super well, right? I'm not the best Ahri, but our Darius was about to tilt, so I rotated (is that the word?) top and helped him secure a few on Cho. He ended up being one of our strongest players.

Yes what you describe is a really good thing to do. You want to be on the look out for opportunities to influence the map. You don't have to force yourself to roam but pay attention at the map and see if you think there are kills to be had on the other lanes.

As any laner you want to be able to try and roam if possible.
I've had games where as the ADC I had to roam mid to help them out. It turned into a 4 v 1 and we got their tower out of it.
Just keep an eye on the map.
You can use your F keys to move the camera to your allies and take a quick peek at what they're doing.
I you can get a nice lead in mid lane you can roam and help snow ball your other laners.
Just don't be gone too long. You still have your lane to cover.

Ye you should be roaming yourself regardless of your junglers strength. It's especially nice if you roam with your jungle to lanes he couldn't gank on his own but that's a more advanced technique. Just pay attention to sidelanes and roam if you spot a good opportunity. You can roam with almost any champ but some champs can obviously roam a lot easier (assassins for example like Ahri) than others. Just think what your champ could do in the side lane if you went there now and how it will look in 30 seconds when you arrive.
As for Janna you can poke trade if you want just keep it in mind that Janna doesn't poke very well so don't go over the top with the poking.
And ye you can play support in bronze. You can carry with any champ on every role so long as you are good enough on them.

You were told wrong. There are some mid laners that prefer to farm the mid lane (Ryze, Cass) but they are considered to be exceptional mid laners in what they do while the vast majority seek to push out the lane faster than the opponent, then use that pressure to back off and influence other lanes.
Ahri is considered one of the top roamers with truly devastating ganks. Maybe 3 mid laners in the game imply more terror when they are missing from lane.

What really makes me sad is that riot gave up on lore. They supposedly immensely grew in time and are polishing the game more than ever, yet the backgrounds only got worse since season two. It would probably take less than an hour for one person to make a good story. Instead new champions either have utterly shit stories with no reason to join league, or a two line placeholder, and all reworked backgrounds are a step down. The lore was suprisingly good for a moba game in the past. The writing was mediocre, but the ideas were nice. However, the writing in summoners judgement was really great. The worst degradation happened with the shurima update. Xerath used to be dr Manhattan that aspired to be what he became. Now he is just the vizier from PoP, which is one step lower than the character development of a Disney villain. Renekton originally went mad from the evil within the minds of people he evaluated for access to the library and blamed nasus for tasking him with this. Now he is some random ancient warrior that got super sayan powers and is assblasted because he was treated as collateral damage. Why, Riot, why? This should not be a strain to them. They just dont care.

Zed lands more single shurikens than doubles. In the lane phase, in mid phase, in teamfight phase, forever. He gets more damage out of single shurikens than double shurikens and his single shurikens got nerfed harder than his doubles were buffed.
