This was not the first occurrence of its kind in Europe - the French and the Bavarian rulers had also made themselves absolute monarchs in their own lands, whilst other nations such as Great Britain and Denmark, along with most of the rest of the HRE, allowed their parliaments to grow strong, and reduce the power of the monarch.

On November 6, the Treaty of Paris was signed.
Myself, the NGF, and France had been competing for influence in Austria for quite a long time. Eventually, France sphered them and I became buttmad and invaded Austria to install a puppet fascist government. All my allies, including the NGF, joined me and invaded France while their entire army was in Africa battling the Boer state of South Africa (who became a fucking powerhouse).
I added the wargoal of turning France fascist and the German armies handily gave me Austria and turned France into a much more agreeable government. Hungary, Poland, and Romania I believe were my direct puppets but Byelorussia and many others in the region were in my sphere. I staged an armed intervention in Poland after my coup attempt failed and liberated Byelorussia and Galicia-Lodomeria. A decade later. Tsarist Rossiya launched an invasion of my lands and I freed the rest of Byelorussia.
All lands I took were cores; I did no blobbing. My only colony is Egypt, (+ Eritrea, which is under the same colonial administration) which is entirely Ukrainized except for Dumyat. There are at least 2 million Ukrainians in all Egypt.
I'm only number 5 in industry because I deleted all my organically developed factories around 1890 to increase colonial migration to Egypt. The program was a success, but my industry never really recovered, especially since I became fascist shortly after.
For the entire game, I was an absolute monarchy with the Congress of Landowners (Reactionary) and had not a single rebellion. After the transition to fascism, I had several large communist and jacobin uprisings, but these ceased after I implemented the Totalitarian System and removed all political reforms.
In America, the midwestern states all became Dixie somehow. It's very interesting to see.

In CK2, the Teutonic Order was given a shit ton of baronies in the East, and the main power there was a Russian Iqta, which explains how they got so big originally.
Brandenburg were the ones who eventually became Prussia after beating back the Teutonic Order (who didn't become Prussia themselves due to being Catholic).

The ai has issues with forming the HRE. It tends to form the Francian Empire instead because its simpler to do. It will sometimes from HRE but that requires the RNG behind it's decisions to roll all in the correct way for that to happen. The Charlemagne start was meant more for the player to play Charlie.

what should I be doing with my courtiers in ck2? I play with hip so I just use the decision to auto marry them to each other, but I have a feeling that's not the optimal way to use them.
I saw someone mention that you should train the women to be high intrigue, marry them into realms you want to expand into and use them to give your plots power. that got me wondering if there are other uses I've been ignoring.

Since unless you go Cathar, they can't do anything else besides raise the kids having them get really good stats so they can teach them to your male children is also good. You can also establish a super human breeding program out of your courtiers to try to create Uber generals and advisers. Basically just match couples with excellent traits together in your court. Eventually you'll have a class of Super-humans running your country.
