it staggers POISELESS enemies (didn't test enemies with poise) without the horsehoof ring
it does stagger players with the horsehoof ring (didn't test without it, but I assume the same)
however, the bullet rate is so slow that they can just roll away after they get staggered and there's nothing you can do
So basically I think it was just a dank ruse he put on you guys and it only affects kicks like it states

Well Souls has always been rather small in terms of community and 3 pulled in a lot of new blood, so I imagine this is them trickling off.

I mean, the PvP right now in 3 is easily pretty DaS1 levels of broken, and it's horrendously bad, but I still play it because I like making interesting builds.

Oh agreed. I fell out with the PVP because it's very easily reduced to a lot of cookie cutter builds.
As much as I hated how DS2 looked, felt and played, every fight felt unique where as DS3 I've started grouping opponents into basic archetypes.
Also is Witcher 3 as good as they say? I heard a lot about it but never really got into it, the old games were very much not my cup of tea because of how they played in terms of combat.

DS2 pvp was broken as fuck fo first months

>fallen knight, dark sword, picked up the painting guardian sword for an offhand because they think it's the un-nerfed monscim from 2, the works
>start talking up how great they are because they beat up some baddie solo invaders and won a bunch of solo duels at the pontiff arena against randoms
>other friend who played recently and I dicked on hardcore before who has started to invade for themselves and is now half-immersed in the meta warns them and tries to be helpful
>gets blown off and challenged to a duel
>friend B wins a few times with carthus then feels bad and switches to some silly weapons to give them a fair chance, surprisingly gets parried quite a few times because they haven't adapted to that yet
>say friend A is bad, get challenged, friend B is in full 'this gon b gud' mode
>bait parries on rolls, read parries and delay, rub up in their face when I look like I'm going to attack, chase their rolls and do nothing, make them lose all parrying confidence
>start off just zonepoking them to death, then killing them with timed throwing knives, then whipping out my own cancerous caestus+hornet combo and getting all the hard reads, parrying left and right for instant kills

Invasions have done something to me /vg/. I don't remember what fun is like. I don't remember what playing with friends is like. I just remember the invasions. Hundreds of invasions. Hundreds of ganks. Hundreds and hundreds of phantoms defending the host. All I know is the burning desire to make people not glowing the same colour as me die. The only thing I enjoy anymore is killing dark sword users. Don't become like me.

As much as I agree that the "bee teem" did shit wrong, the answer was not to remove all the good innovations and make an effectively less ambitious sequel to DaS1. Hell, I remember being buttmad at how crappy the NPCs were compared to the first game, but they're godsends compared to anyone in 3. I also still believe 2 had the makings of a good game and shit just got rushed or something.

Not the same Anon, I was a fan of TW1 and 2, I read most of the books too but I got bored of TW3 after 20 hours in and never bothered to finish it. Go figure. Maybe I'll pick it up againafter I am done with Uncharted 4
