First most important rule is to never blow your load during the first year of release.
You make sure your mobage isn't at its best form from the get go even if you have everything that's needed to make it absolutely perfect right away. The game needs to stay "perpetually unfinished" so that you can introduce several "enticing updates" to keep players invested over time.
If you set the bar too high too often, future content not holding up to those previously established standards can cause serious problems for development since it'll oftentimes signal to players that the mobage is now as complete as it'll ever be with no more room to improve. Intersperse moments of greatness with more moments of averageness to keep people hooked on a game experience that will (ideally) never be truly finished like your average packaged video game.

Outside of limited gacha stuff what have they really done? Most events since Nation Blue have been dead as fuck, which made Valkyria's competitiveness extremely surprising since it felt like it came out of nowhere. And I don't think any limited has claimed as much as Kaede and Miho, but that's mostly from what people around here say and the occasional post of the top grossing apps during them. Obviously they reached number one there during the SSR ticket thing but that felt more like an admittedly effective cash grab than a game feature.
