How do you handle that? Especially if there is a big bad on your tail and you have to jump from planet to planet or system to system? And you need to sustain the population of the Ark. Running around ME1's citatel makes me dread playing future mass effect games. Every mass effect game has its own charm, but ME1 has the best exploration by far. If the mako didn't control like complete ass I wouldn't mind exploring other planets.

It's all about the image they need to promote in order to sell tickets and to be trusted with projects that they want to do.
