Mobile or consoles, flash or unity, freeware or early access. This place is a home for the indie game community and indie games that don't have a home. Pretty much Hotline Miami 1 & 2 and a handful of RPG Maker games, Dropsy was good too, but the DLC most likely wont be out until late summer. The occasional few rounds of Luftrausers are enjoyable.
I don't really feel any sort of hype for upcoming indie titles even if I want to. I see all these upcoming indies with gorgeous graphics, interesting gameplay, good music and so on, but all I feel is just "well, ok."

How’s it going /indie/? I’ve found my motivation so I’m back to do the one thing that actually justifies me having a name on this board. So today I’ll be reviewing EvilQuest, released in 2014 by Choasoft games.
In EvilQuest you play as Galvis, an evil overlord with about as much character depth as that dude from Hatred, as he tries to accomplish his goals of mass destruction after meeting failure at the hands of the kingdom of Camelia and a traitor in his ranks. So the king keeps Galvis alive and tosses him in prison as an example and trophy. However said king forgot to account for one thing; plot progression, and soon enough you’re playing as Galvis as he shanks his way through prison and gets his old gear back.
Upon his escape he sets off on a quest to kill God and take his place. To do this he must learn to hold off on burning bridges, crops, and whole towns because it turns out NPCs are rather good at pointing out where the dungeons are and providing you with armor and spells. For Galvis it comes down to a two-part plan; breaking four magic seals to open a portal to God’s domain and collecting magic weapons to forge them into an axe capable of committing Yahwehcide.

Galvis will build up a solid arsenal of weapons and spells as his quest of evil progresses but I’m going to have to say this, the weapons are pretty bland. They all function more-or-less the same; you can swing them and charge them to fire projectiles ala Crystalis. It sort of boils down to things like using the fire sword to do damage to enemies in the ice area or using the ice staff to freeze a waterfall to get behind it. In terms of progression it just doesn’t feel very organic. Spells on the other hand don’t feel like it either but at least there’s variety; such as an ice spell that fire frost in the cardinal directions, a lightning spell that lets a bolt loose in the direction you’re facing, and an earth spell that bounces a boulder all over the screen.
Armed with might and magic you’ll be exploring Camelia in this 16-bit adventure, except technically not as evidenced by the occasional graphic with blurring or transparent pixels. Though said inconsistency do only pop up every so often it isn’t helped by the fact that the rest of the environments look a bit drab and the music isn’t anything to gush about either.
However despite its shortcomings, EvilQuest is actually quite fun. Its combat may be a bit repetitive but it makes up for it with a slew of great boss battles and its ability to let you parade around as a rude and violent evil overlord. So at the end of the day EvilQuest is a diamond in the rough that I feel is worth the two dollars to buy it.

I'd argue that off was sorta build level design wise in a way that works best in a top down perspective. You'd have to overhaul some of the designs of the levels just to make it complement the new camera angle.

Also, there is no place to grind. However, you don't need to fight the bosses. You can go to Big Lincoln's zone, kill the goons, go back to heal, then kill Dice's goons, go back to heal, and you'll be fresh and ready for the bosses. You can also keep camping for a couple of bonus fights against a joy mutant and a pair of ecelebs who ambush Buddy when she wakes up.

Tigerman is hard to say for, since he doesn't talk so it's hard to get a good grasp on his character. I forgot that he holds back, so I guess I'd bump him up to ok. It kind of seemed like his motivation was a selfish one, and would have gladly killed Brad if he was weaker than him.
Jack says "I have to see what it's like" in reference to Buddy. It should be pretty obvious what he's referring to if you can read between the lines. He also doesn't hold back against Brad, meaning he isn't remorseful or ashamed that he's killing a man for the sake of violating his underaged daughter, which seems like a pretty shitty thing for a friend to do. Even Rage at least cried and felt sad about what he was doing, and is very especially grateful if you save him from kidnappers.

Right after dying, Hugo loses his physical part of darkness saying he's afraid of the dark, while the Batter says there will be no darkness anymore, as in physical: everybody is dead, and only their spiritual part of light is left, in the Kingdom of Light.
When the Batter pulls the final switch to OFF, he completely eradicates the Kingdom of Darkness. Nothing is physical anymore, the spirits of the dead are the only thing left.
Most of it are my own theories, but I think it makes sense.

I haven't worked on it in awhile. i said to myself that i would work on it in the summer but it's almost summer and i don't really feel like it, i kind of want to start a new project that's more like && (cryptic with no text, sort of et atari feel) but with game maker since working on my project helped me learn it. i also really like the idea of putting regular people in games that have nothing to do with them, like my picture gallery in &&. the feel of the game makes them creepy even though it was just a meetup with some old people (or was it..?). maybe an obscure, out of context clip from a documentary would make for confusion and discomfort for the player. also I'd like to make a symbol language like No Escape Saga did instead of dashes and slashes, and maybe number puzzles so you have to figure out which symbols are which numbers. i have too many ideas though and I think that's a bad thing.
