Consoles soon edition

>Can the game be considered a full release?
KSP has been a full release for more than a year now, we are proud of the amazing work the devteam has done to bring us one of the most fun and challenging space games out there.
Despite the long and sometimes troubled alpha/beta period, KSP is now a grown product and it's guaranteed to keep you glued to the screen for hundreds of hours.

>Are there big issues with the game?
Apart from the occasional obscure bug, there is not much to complain about KSP. The game runs smooth as butter.

>What are the devs doing?
Besides upgrading the game to its latest version (1.1.3), the devs have been teaming up with the promising people over at Flying Tiger Entertainmenrt KSP to consoles.
Another major update is in the works (1.2) too, which will bring even more new content to an already impressive feature list.

>Should I buy the game?
Considering the amount of hours of fun you can get from KSP, it's a total bargain. The general consensus here is that there is no reason not to buy this game.

Why does Squad hate us?

Why broken promises?

Why no new planets?

Why is the sugestions box on the site usless and probably not ever read?

Why dosnt a better company take over KSP and buy it from them?

Also how come every time I come to /vg/ after months of not comeing here the people get more and more autistic?

And why is there a faggot who posts snakes and lizards on EVERY board on 4chan?

In order to maintain Golden Age status, we must abide by our own laws. I believe all duplicate threads to be cancers and those who intentionally make them should be denounced to the group. I will never do it, and those who care about the health of the general should consider avoiding the practice.

So the other day I was giving a look at the FAQs of 4chan and it reminded me of a question I always had since I started visiting the site:
Why do they put so much emphasis on sage not being a downvote?

I mean, sage is pretty much universally used to post one's dissent towards the thread, the poster or what have you, while not giving it a free bump at the same time.
I can see how sage could be used in cases where you might want to clean up the last few posts of a general after a new one has been created so you don't get two threads in the same page, but that's probably a minority.

So what gives? Why are they insisting on not letting people use sage as a message of dissatisfaction?

It's more of a case for trying to get people to not just post in a thread declaring they saged it. Generally speaking sage's intended purpose is a japan related thing wherein you'd sage your post when responding to an older thread to avoid bumping it all the way back to page 1, when you had something to add but when there's nowhere for the conversation to go/the thread's purpose is basically complete. I don't profess to get the logic behind it personally.

I just don't get why they insist so much at not calling it a downvote. I mean, people announce sages anyway and it's a common practice by now.

Go figure
>>
>>148189192

>>148189372
Oh didn't know that.

>>
>>148189617

I'm sorry to hear that. Although I'm willing to bet your biggest bottleneck is the 6gb of ram. I used to only have 8 before I upgraded my entire mobo a few months ago and I noticed an immediate improvement.

But even before then it wasn't that bad.

Hey hey what a surprise! Suddenly the custodian remembers how to delete single threads!

Well, now it's confirmed. Now we nuke the thread. He's using moderation to force us to post in this shill thread on the day of the console release.

Max, when this is over, you're going to wish you had just left us alone.

The janitor is forcing us to use this thread and deleting attempts to burn through it.

/kspg/, you should know the only thing keeping him from stopping his stranglehold is intimidation. If we give in to this obvious corruption, we will not do the one thing that stops him from corrupting our general:

Creating a fuss.

Creating a big massive obvious fuss is custodian poison. That's what has sent him into hiding in the past, and its what will work now.

But I cannot do it alone.

It's time to decide what you care about, /kspg/.

And remember, he can't delete on topic negative posts without jeopardizing his position.
>>
Max, i want you to know, for all you have done, from the bottom of my hearth... FUCK YOU And the same goes for the other devs too, please pass it on.
>>
For the still missing devstreams, for all the broken promises, for encouraging the "its not an aplha, all content updates sould be tested internally by retarded monkeys instead of adapting a more open devcycle while ignoring the external retarded monkeys too" midnset in both the devs and in the consumers alike. For compleately ingoring the original fanbase, and changing development priorities with the casual players in mind, most of which wont even be there when the game releases (make no mistake, the core will be gone too), for witholding vital information in the name of "hype" then getting uppity when peolpe start to speculate, all of it resulting in Skunky tier faliures.
>>
It just boggles my mind how incomeptent a team can be, in all regards of game development.
>>
To have "we are not announcing anything, because we would have to commit to it" be an acceptable statement form a developer.

Disregarding the fact, that the dilemma can ba solved by a: "we chose to not do this AND HERE IS WHY, AND WHAT IS THE FATE OF THE ABANDONED COPNTENT"
>>
(note: if not used on every. single. fucking. thing. in every. single. fucking. update.)
>>
it implies that the devs themselfs have no idea what they will be doing next week, and that is unacceptable when building the !foundations! (this is alpha-development. it dont have to be pretty, it have to WORK, and be able to accept future changes readily, wihtout having to write the whole thing from scracth) of a program.
>>
Because guess what happens when you just slap shit together in week, fart it to the otherwise already clusterfuck of code, and call it a feature?
>>
It will run like shit no matter the months of QA testing, be incompatible with any other future "features", and forces you to eventualy redo it from scratch, and try to fit it into the maze of other "features" every single time.
>>
>>148232945
"development asymtope" my ass!
>>
>>148233043
Plan your fucking code and development, and maybe you wont have to spend 3/4 of your time doing shit that was supposed to be done years ago!
>>
>>148233240
No "oh we are in feature lock but instead of sitting on my ass fixing bugs, thus speeding up release, i make an another cool addition!.
>>
>>148233240
disregard the fact that it wont be tested, and consumes 50% of tzhe games resources, it runs fine in my drugmoney setup, it would be fine on everyones!".
>>
>>148233459
Do what you are supposed to do, and if you dont know what it is, get together, plan ahead for the next 1,5 year, flesh out feasibility prototypes, then get it done.
>>
>>148233575
And they already spent so much effort into failed dev sematics, and when they finaly have the groundwork for something that could service most of the userbase, while being a lot of help to the development, they revert to an arcaic setup, that could only be used for a garage project made for 50 people.
>>
>>148233709
You have rollback, you have patcher, you have numerous dedicated bugtracking sites (forums, and the other bugtracker), you have 30+ dedeicated testers and moderators, who could also moderate said bugreporting channels.
>>
>>148233873
Its so obvoious: have stable releases every half year, release experimentals every 3 weeks, and keep the ~10 internal close-proximity testers.
>>
>>148233982
Have tiered, moderated bugreport system: the beginnings will be harsh, but in a couple of weeks the "mekjeb broke fixit" tier posters would be restricted to the fodder channles, while people submitting reliable constroctuve reports would gain acces to the higher tier channels.
>>
>>148234119
With the ammount of work already gone into the current QA team, this could be a reality, and would be a lot more efficient.
>>
>>148234529
And its just the thing that come to mind, if i were to "relive" the past 1.5 year, and have an artyom level charlimit, im sure i could list most of squads choices in the "retarded" section, and come up with numerous different, better choices on the spot. Imagine what an actually capeable person could have done! (not me)
>>
>>148234705
On an another note: when did Artyom last posted, and whne will be posting again?
>>
half the development time for each incremental update?(more, since it will ALWAYS need hotfixes after a rlesease) fucking NO!
>>
You have rollback for those who want the more stable version
>>
>>148234952
(relesead every half year: aprox 3 "big" update: so instead of thesting each big update for 1 month+week hotfixing, you test the stable version for 1,5 months, and spend the saved 2 months for actuial development.),
>>
>>148235027
and expertimental versions after each github brach passed the internal QA tests (1-2 weeks max). and voiala! you get a fuckton more useful bugreports
>>
>>148235089
(tiered bugreporting channels, accounts on them tied to game copies, and the current testers/mods are more than enough to sort the users into their "bugreport category", so after the first few weeks the "mekjeb broke fixit" kiddies are easily ignored in the low tiers, and actually useful reports shine bright in the high tiers. have rewards for eliminating-/and penalites for posting- duplicates).
>>
>>148235324
Is it realy that hard to understand? THE GAME IS IN DEVELOPMENT dont treat every single glitchy placeholder update as the next AAA DLC for thousands of pesos.
>>
>>148235418
God, cocksuking damnit!

-0.18 i dicked around with docking, but besides the obligatory apollo reenactment, i found that anything worth assembling in orbit could be launched in one piece/be too wobbly to be of use, so the novelty wore off pretty quickly. But no worries, next update will have resources, and finaly have a reason to build ground colonies and refueling stations, a satelite cloud to map kerbin... (most of which i have already done with half assed mods)
>>
>>148235804
-0.19 Oh, they split it and we got wheels (which mods did better) and reentry effects (with no heat or any connection to actual gameplay). well, they were on holiday break, changed the devcycle, released on steam and its a half update, so the next one will be out even sooner!
>>
>>148235925
-0.20 oh wow, its fucking nothing after 4 months, only i can launch 3 times now before crashing. well i will wait for 0.21, and for the mods to update, so i can finaly make remotech satnetwork for the kethane/ISA/GPS sats, build extraplanetary launchpads, with miner rovers, like i wanted since fucking 0.18.
>>
-0.21 wow its still fucking nothing, only the shit dont wiggle themselfs apart, i can launch a whoopin 4 times now, and the loading times only got longer by 20 minutes, what a deal! Now to wait for mods to update and i can finaly play the fucking game properly since more than half a year. I will go to vacation for a few weeks, that should be enough to have everything fixed and mods updated.
-now: most quality game-changing mods are either abandoned for all we know (KAS/ISA/extraplanetary launchpad), or decided its a great time to rework everything (remotech).
>>
>>148236081
Welp, time to wait for an another 4 months for an official update that adds something compleately fucking useless (finaly i dont have to mess around getting kerbals into their seats in the launchpad, the only thing this feature could be used! FUCKING NOPE), and an another 1 month for the mods that actualy add contetnt to maybe update.
>>
>>148236227
Just imagine how much all of the crafts on the pic could do with mods like >>44156503. They would all gain purpose, and open up new avenues for soemething to work for. Does any of this required to get into orbit, thus elianating new players? fucking no! so stop catering to casuals, add actual gameplay to the fucking game, and then bother teaching everyone how to use them, while the ones who have the capacity to figure shit out (the ones origianly/for the longest time supporting the game) can play around with the mechanics, uncovering bugs to fix between adding new tutorials/making adjustments.
>>
>>148236302
Max, i have a gerat idea how to gather useful public bugreports form everyone qualified, with minimal moderation required: turn the leddit audience and its karmawhoring aginst itself!
>>
>>148236405
-Have the bugreport account be tied to copies of ksp, so sockpupeting is minimalized, and if there is, you get extra revewnue! win-win.(piretafags, i feel your sorrow, but through /kspg/ im sure you can find a proxy)
>>
>>148236461
Have at least two places for bugreports to go from there: "best quality reported bugs" and "acknowleged reports" in these places each bug should only be presented once (and will be, since they will be passed through the devs/mods, and becouse the commuinty will help filter duplicates.
>>
>>148236864
-if someone is spamming useless reoprts, or just incapeable of writing a good one, limit how much they can submitt, and/or redirect them to a fodder channel. Heh
>>
>>148236957
-THE IMPORTANT STUFF: have "karma" or similar system be avarded for good reports, finding and eliminating duplicates, and digging useful reports out from the fodder chanel, and have it penalized for spamming dulpicates and low quality (REALY low uality, like "it broke fixit")/unqualified reports.
>>
-from there based on the avareage internetuser everyone will want to grind those points, but creating a false account to help in it will be impossible, because its tied to the copy of their game (and if they are dump enough to buy a new one, heh win-win).
>>
>>148237040
Have rewards for periodic and all time bests, like featuring the top 10 weekly point gainers in the weekly, or have the most succesful guys name in a devcycle listed in the changelog, or have them submit kerbal names.. im sure you guys can figure more out.
>>
>>148237193
With this system the devs/mods will only have to deal withnew submissions/categorizing mostly at the begining, because the postr quality will be stabilized thanks to the points, and the community will be actively avoiding/hunting for duplicates. It will also give N3X1S a new project once spaceport 2.0 is finished, so he can keep his job, and have more nightmare fueled nights.
>>
>>148237193

So here s a challenge for thee:
-why didnt the devs thought about, or even commented on the "procedural" part generation, and the "welding" of certain parts, as a way to combat bigger partcounts and wobblines from stacked same-type fuel tanks (the main source of wobble)?
-will new parts come with the R&D system (apart from ports

"we want the mechjeb audience"

literaly. They switched focus from adding more "toys" to play with, to making the current ones more "accesible" through a career mode introduction, because people could get "overwhelmed" from all the parts.
>>
Yes, they ignore adding/polishing features to a game in alpha stage, which alrteady has tutorials, in favor of making a roundabout introduction to half finished mechanincs for new costumers, (ones who knows they are paying for an unfinished game). Thats like dressing/seving raw food ingridents for the customers, who alrady payed and waited 1 hour for the meal, only to take it back to the kitchen and redo everything from scratch again.

fuck you max you Skunkyloving faggot

Happening in the past 4 weeks (1 of wich was vacation) as far as we know from the informative weeklies:
-Harv: actual gameplay influencing thing
-N3X: unpaid maintreanace guy
-Romfarer: a single fucking GUI element with clickeable nodes. might as well be a powerpoint presentation with hyperlinks
-C7: still (after 2 months) fixing the fuckup that is the new SAS, and finding new things to blame on unity, like being stupid enough to have at least 2 screen loaded into memory.
-aLeXmOrA: working on a launcher, or an another patcher or whatthefuck, but garanted it will shit itself whenever one would want to use it. Just outsource that shit, if you guys couldnt make it work the past 3 years, it wont change now. And you have steam.
-Mu: working on something, a modder done in a week, while equating ingame icons to engine switches. hard work.
-DanRosas: dude makes good animations, if we get one the next update, he can jerk off for all i care.
-Ted: helping install mecjeb to the QA team, and bathing in praise whoever can actualy reach orbit.
-Artyom: R&D facility, easter eggs, island base, cure for cancer, salvation of mankind
-claria: ???
-Skunky: ???

Intro, 20 minute community interview with big name modder or community person hullo, break, 20 minute dev interview. Probably can prerecord both for quality control to avoid KSPTV launch conditions, and have both dev and community person on twitch chat for answering questions from community while prerecorded segments run. Incentivizes viewership. This can totally work.
>>
The hot summers you are so annoyed with? Yeah, you will remeber them as mild springs, hunching over syntetic shit made out of your dead realtives in a godforsaken bunker, while the only children you are allowed to have is in the procces of pillaging a nearby village for their 10 gallons of drinkeable water, choking on hydrogen sulfide produced by the bloom of aerobic bacterias thanks to the oceans being a dark, freezing, oxygenless stagnant poodles.
>>
Why? Because thanks to having 700.000 years worth of carbondioxide dumped into our atmosphere in only 200 years, earth got a little hot, thus the thermohelic circulation shut down: temperature diffenrecies across the planet went to extreme levels with the smoothing ocean currents stopping altogether. Carbon disolved in the water lowered its ph, killing everything in the bottom of the foodchain, while we also fucked up the surface ecosystems with overloading it with nitrogen, phosphor and other critical things, then killing everything that coud actualy remove those from ciculations. The rest is taken care by extreme heats and colds, drasticaly changed atmosphere composition, rising sealevels, lack of crucial functions in the biosphere thanks to them being fucking dead, and so on...
>>
That is what waits in our future, not some daydream about exploring space. Its the last remnants of the human race desperately trying to unfuck their world, while slowly dying a misereable, pathetic death in their own filth. The earth, and life on it will go on and start anew, make no mistake, only we wont be there to shit on it. And you never got the chance to play 0.22
>>
>>148240331
Sure, to make this wolrd sustaineable, we have to regultae birthrates: every human has the right to birth 2-3 (depending on current death rates) children. after that their gen sample (sperm and egg) is taken as backups and they are sterilized. They can have an a anotehr "made" from backups if all thier offsprings die.
>>
>>148240418
Now that we know for sure ammount of the currently alive people, we nkow how much food they need to survive, thus we can calibrate our curent food producing capabilities to produce that ammount plusa bit more, with these facilites being distributed aroudn the globe to accomodate the popuus density.
>>
>>148240459
Now we know how many people there are, how many food needs to be made, and how many people that porcces needs to employ. In hte same vein, we can determine the "basic material right" for everyone: an x sized all equipped home, furnitures, electronics, internet etc.... And we can make globally that production capability, with their required people of workers.
>>
>>148240525
If we end up with more jobs than people, we can either reduce workload on current workers, (like 5 shifts a day), or if too few workers, we relax the "basic material rights", until we develop tech to make it possible.
>>
>>148240612
There, a system where everyone has the same stuff, with little wasteful surplus.
>>
>>148240612
Imagine: have two struts docked with 2 dockinports on each side, with 12 small relay satelites crafted onto them. The carrier arrives to a system, the small crafts pick off 1-1 sateslites, and deploy them in their desired orbits around the planet and moons, return, refuel, repeat.
>>
>>148240803
Meanwhile an extraplanetary-launchpad stayle one use base is deployed form the carrier with the accompanying rovers (as well as 1-2 bigger miner-rovers on the moons).
>>
>>148240943
The base sets up, launches a replica of the the base, a new set of "satelite struts", rovers, and fuel into orbit, the carrier with the aid of the small fighters collects these bits, reasembles itself, and goes onto the next system.
>>
and realy lets look back. after 2 moths of 0.18 we had:
-reentry with damage and effetcs requiring a heatshield
-rover wheels with more felxibility then the current ones
-ASAS, gimbalss and RCS optimalization
-launchtower remover
-pretty much all the "new" stock parts only as mods.
-crew manifest (i think)

and thats pretty much all the contetn squad added this past 9 months excluding flags. But wait, we had superior mods for stuff they are onl yplanning at this point!

>>148241038
-Kethane resources
-remotech relays
-ISA mapping
-aerodynamics fix (sorta)

Landing gear, solar panel, sensors etc sounds (in atmo)
RCS sounds in atmo
Skidding and other light, continious damage sounds. Scraping a tail on the runway for example.

"Boy, this kerbal game is fun and still in development? wow, will go to its website and see what has been done lately!"
>>
>>148241548
-last devblog made by actual developer, not status reports from maintenace guys, or other non development related crap like polls or betatest applications: none in the past month or so becasue from the the latest 5 featured on the forum frontpage, dating back to aug. 2nd, none of it is.

"wow they have weekly reports, lets lloook at them"
combined infromation from the past 5 featured weeklys:
-Harvester: "not much because PAX", "currently at PAX" "recovering from PAX" (no PAX related inforation can be found on the entire website). "write a cool system to output results of science experiments" "working on the UI for displaying the experiment results." " Creating a new dialog to display results of experiments" "Added a system to allow experiments to output different results based on where you are on the planet "(basicaly the same basic thing still not done in a span of 5 weeks), and only ideas hinted at transmition.

i could combine the others as well, but it would be the same, only C7 would only get a "lelsecret" tag, Mu an "mad optimlazitaion like not using the fucking hamachi network adappters for texture loading" Ted an "leltesting" N3x "fuck servers" Rob: "5 weeks of work for a fucking UI background and 30 icons" Macro: "lellauncher toitaly not like our patcher that after 1,5 years of development still shits itself if more than 10 people tries to use it" and Dan. "animating"

All of this accompanied by a whooping 6 pictures, 5 made by artyom.

announcment thread: only advertisments for KSPTV.

"hey, the have their own twitrch channel lests check it out!"
-autistic shuttles everywhere
"oh, they have blocks with the actual devs!"
-20min of yutuber jerkoff, followed by 5 min of technical faliure, then 20 min of devs not saying a single fucking new thing from the updates.

Hype machine Max edition.

Quick tips to improve the situation:
-add a week of devtime dedicated to writing the devblogs. If a week is not enough to have evryone on the team write a 10 paged essay on what they are/about to work on in the next 2 monhts, then let it be 2 weeks.
>>
>>148242303
-Have the weeklies gather ALL released information from all mediums. SA, leddit, /kspg/, forums, youtube, your moms brothel... Any word that came out of the developers mounth that appeard somwhere on the internet should be featured/repeated on the weeklies with a fucking fanfare. On top of providing actual statusreports from the devs, maybe them referencing which part of the !!!!previously detalied devplan for the current update!!!! they are at, where they got stuck, or what changed.
>>
>>148242380
-If a change on anything previously said/mentioned, even if its just a trivial reference, should be almost immediately -but at the lates in the weeklies- announced, calrified with reasons given. This should halt any speculation, and prevent "you promised us" shit.
>>
>>148242449
-If you dont want to tell us something then dont fucking tell it, hint at it, tease it, blurp it out without clarification. Its not building hype, it just seems you guys are trying to get away with not doing jack shit by refering it as "lelsecret".
>>
Ok, MAN. It's all fun and games, but can you really explain how to do an a half press?

RIP HARV NEVER 4GET
YOU WERE THE BEST OF US

So i will just hate Harvester now for giving us a taste of his vision of a fun, imaginitive and fairly complex, semi realistic spaceprogram sim; Only to years later, (and after everyone who was interested in this direction already forked out the cash), reveal that the entirety of that that vision was a medicore explosionsimulatro wich is content on doing everything half assed, and fears to put up anything more challenging than picking your nose, because the crowd who would be interested in this interpretation is yet to pay for it.

Simple, you hold it down.

Now, where's my new thread? It's the only way this will stop. And don't think I won't loop.

You have 15 minutes to work out how you want this to go down.

Go,

Lewd. Also, no thread for you, simply because this was done first and this is the only one we need. Luckily for you, people don't see the OP too often.

and those are just the one that came to my mind, But the solution is easy:
Its a regulary updated alpha game, the perfect setup to experiment with anything. So just make parwelding into the game. If it doesnt work, take it out the next update. If it does, keep it. Thats how we got the current sytem: Harc diabled in-ship collisions, and adjusted the collider limits, to see if it would help. Even if you have to scrap it, im sure 70% of the used coding could be used elswehe that you guys didnt thought of, so its not a waste of time. (like instead of having two states of crafts: packaged and invisible/unpakced and fully simultaed, have 3: With the new on being converetd to a sinlge part, thus saving on physics simulations, but allowing it to be displayed in all of its glory, until you dock/swtich to it)
