Sorry whoever was asking me about the desynthesis things in one of the deleted threads, I had queue'd up for a dotes game and it popped.
I really don't know too much about desynthesis but there are books that can reduce your skill if you wish to 'respec'. That said it's pretty much not of any use at the moment as far as I can tell, so don't feel too harsh about it. One of the best things is LTW desynth though, since you can desynth for leather instead of suffering HW's awful farm rates.

The main issue is that none of it aside from MNK/DRG/NIN are really iconic. They're basically throwaway gearsets that will be forgotten instantly.

It's pretty difficult to play with the harder odd colours on Raen men at least, I tried my hand at it for awhile.
I ended up settling with a burnt reddish shade, not far from human but off. The pale green and pale blue look pretty good too, but red ogre men look funny.
As with most difficulties with Raen customization, I blame the horns.

The change of pace helps a ton. I'm planning on going to Lala for a few days, then back to Elezen. Elezen is my true home as it always will be.

Also it being limited isn't the problem. There are a lot of not-so-populated servers there with free plots and if you're in a high populated place like Balmung and that you want a house that badly, you can just transfer.
There's also people hogging plots since you can get multiples using alts.

The ward system is great in that even smaller servers can make communities around their neighbourhood, which is something I've observed even on smaller servers that's probably prominent on JP servers.
As it stands, making housing too meaningful punishes players who can't access it. It has to be a luxury that yields small bonuses if they want to prevent the initial gold dump from being mandatory towards a full game experience. That said, some players might prefer housing be a big experience and I see you're aware but I think it is important to establish the purpose for conversation.
The big issue is just availability right now which they're actively working on. It's fine to be optimistic for the future.

People shouldn't be allowed to sit on houses because it introduces issues like easier hoarding and inactive housing taking up space, there isn't a reasonable compromise. I don't think you're considering the logistics issues of unlimited wards. Instances rooms are easier but we're sacrificing a lot of functionality. I am unfamiliar with PSO but XIV housing has way more to it than guild halls do.
The game was never meant to support servers like Balmung and Gilgamesh and this is a separate issue entirely. Other servers run into some issues, but they're being remedied significantly on a regular basis. Your issue is on an unreasonable scale, houses are not limited arbitrarily, they're limited because the other option is gutted.

It's just a matter of scale. Each individual house holds information on all the customization you do to it which is a significant amount, and then it's part of a larger ward. The ward is the major complication, it has to account for all the housing and constantly process the changes between the server and players and hold information on each house. The easy comparison is to something like Dwarf Fortress to see why something that might not look impressive would end up eating resources as more needs to be accounted for. There's no doubt that housing is the biggest load on Square's servers.
Adding wards is just a matter of gaining a larger quantity to work with, but servers need to be kept on par and it's impractical to devote resources for big servers when there're a huge amount of small servers that bottom out. Worse yet, they run the issue of a declining game pop in the future rendering extra space a useless tax. There's a huge amount to consider practically for just adding ward count.
If the number becomes unlimited then we're looking at shit like hundreds of unused houses within the year. Wards that become empty aside from one player. Complications if they decide to merge servers. Square losing money to unsubsidized player base. It isn't practical, and removing wards significantly reduces the appeal of housing in addition to being impossible without fallout.

SH2 + Hasty into Byre for quality boosts. Name/Brand of Water for progress and a CS2 for completion (this can be substituted for Standard Synthesis). Noble Gold/Codex are easy as shit to get above 4,000.

Well the takeaway there isn't how high the graph goes, necessarily, so much as it is a combination of how high it is and how small the gap is between Best and Median.
It's a lot more impressive to have a Best score in the 70th percentile and a Median score at the 67th percentile than it is to have a Best score in the 85th percentile while your Median score is at the 45th percentile.
