Biggest thing for new players as a fellow kinda new player is just get you frame to 30 quickly and start leveling mastery early.
Mods come with time but your first 30 warframe takes the longest and holds you back the most.
Farm the essential frames from bosses like frost, loki, rhino if you didn't pick Excalibur, ember for low level farming.

I wish there were more missions along the lines of the rathuum set up where there are only a few powerful boss type enemies which single target weapons would have a purpose for. I found snipers, bows and other weapons that focus on dealing lots of damage to a single person fairly effective in this event. Are they the best? no, but at least they suck less and feel useable.
