If you kill a night spider and it drops a hood, bind that immediatly, it cloaks you from certain enemies.
You don't actually have to kill everything in a room for it to be marked "complete", I think you just have to reveal it.
The reward is tokens+xp.
Tokens can be used on various things, the most useful of which are stuff like the demon horn necklace and bonecrusher, and the scroll of cleansing.

Truly, the worst thing about maxing/doing anything in runescape is how Jagex undermines your past achievements by making everything easier.
Runespan is the absolute worst offender to date. Not only did it make runecrafting a joke, they just had to rub it in and add that stupid Esteem shit as a reg for trim. And let me tell you about esteem. Not only is it completely pointless and useless, you have to grind at least 6.5m rc exp for that shit. I hated doing rc, easily my most hated skill. Doing nats/zmi/laws for 6.5m exp probably killed like 80% of my braincells and ruined my life. I blame getting 99 runecrafting before runescpan for being a NEET hikky trimautist. If only runespan had been there for me when I was still 6.5m exp away from 99, things would be different. However, what they did was, they tore those old scars open and had me experience that easymode bullshit for 6.5m exp just so I could reflect on my past mistakes during that whole grind, making me want to kill myself even more than I already did.
Mining is another bullshit-tier offender, fuck seren stones too. I spent the whole summer of 2006 slaving at granite quarry, hating every second of it, only to get my hands on that ugly brownishgray piece of shit cape with weird baby blue trim. Not only did it kill me inside, it probably caused permanent damage on my wrists as well. At least we didn't have to do Seren stones for 6.5m exp.

If you're solo dungeoneering it doesn't matter if you're maxed or not, you'll still get rooms you can't do without potting/portent.
Only time your skills matter is when doing it in group and someone with higher skills than you, you won't be able to do the majority of skill doors. And doing HM floors where they have a base req of 90+.

To use an augmented hatchet you have to wield it. So Jagex made it possible to switch them to a non-combat mode, which turns them into level 1 weapons. Just for skillers.

I did iron until 68, including every quest that exists that gives mining xp. Granite would have been faster.
Then afk'd Lava Flow to 75 for Priff, then some more to 82ish because nymph slut took that long to give me the full Mining Suit set.
From there you do concentrated gold ore, optionally also with superheat form for free smithing xp until Seren Stones. Then you do Seren Stones.
