>red still has its shity Baby Cliff jets and the Fishbed
Great times are ahead of us, soon the ground witll be full of slavshit wrecks - just like IRL.
>>
>>140463869
Don't forget, the Blufor side will retain access to Redfor's planes, but the opposite will not be true.
>>
>>140464069
Why would anyone use redfor planes on blufor when blufor will have enough planes to fill all roles?

Nobody is gonna need the snowflake 25T when the F/A-18C comes out.
In the rotary section if they finish the Cobra there will be no need for the KA-50 on blufor.
More likely redfor will need blufor planes. But then again we can be sure that the 14 and 18 will be released around 2032 at this pace.
>>
>>140464505
>2032
Ouch
>>
>>140464505
>he thinks the Cobra and F/A-18C are actually coming out this century

I don't see why Blue Flag has to be tubo-autism "realistic battlefield" mode, "planes and mercs" mixed NATO/pact coalitions are more fun/diverse anyway.

besides, it's not like Egypt can be consistently counted on to do what the West says. They operate the Mirage, let that shit be on redfor as some sort of wacky TOM CUHLANCY wargameporn situation.

Shit, there's a fuckton of western-allied countries that operate variants of the MiG-21, let Blue have it as well, for fuck sake. The proposed logic for limiting these two planes to Blue/Red respectively doesn't even hold up.

What time period is DCS supposed to be in, anyways? Russia-Georgian war of 2008?

Since the R-77 was put into service in 1994, does that mean we might see the Su-30 or some other Su-27 variant which could carry it? Maybe a Mig-29M or Mig-29K?
>>
>>140466487
Essentially yes, but no one's allowed to say that for POLITICAL REASONS.

Really it's based around whatever the fuck you want to play, the Caucasus map was in use in Lock On/Flaming Cliffs before 2008 and before DCS existed, however.

Seriously, look at the FC3 campaigns, most of them are pretty obvious.

DCS is mid/early 90s ya numpties, the only plane contradicting that is the A-10C.
>>
DCS has no set time period because it was never coherently designed to be one theater. It's just a grab bag of whatever people are willing to develop.

The closest to a set time period comes from back in the LOMAC days when the game was supposed to loosely represent the Georgian conflict, but ever since then that content has expanded in different directions.
>>
So blue flag, they moved the mirage off of red because realism, but blue still get mig-29's?

Sure is balanse.
>>
>>140475384
SU-25 came into service in 1978
MiG-29 in 1982
SU-27 in 1985
F-15C in 1985
A-10A in 1976

Don't base weapons as a time period indicator but the avionics of the aircraft since the 120C was made to be compatible with the APG-63 for example.

DCS is just a mess with 80's jets with some new missiles on it.

The F-15C campaign Bear Trap is set in 2011 where the new radar, aim-9x and HMCS were already being used on them.

A neoconservative American pilot, Lockheed-Martin engineer, SDI supporter and NATO officer was teaching a class on the M1 Abrams, an American tank

”Before the class begins, you must get on your knees and worship General Motors and accept they designed the best tank in the world, impenetrable to any round the world has ever known thanks to depleted uranium plates, even superior to the T-80U”

At this moment, a brave, patriotic Spetsnaz officer who had served 1500 tours of duty in the Great Patriotic War and understood deep battle and fully supported all military decision made by Leonid Brezhnev stood up and held up a photograph of a burned out Abrams.

”How was this tank lost, burger?”

The arrogant professor smirked quite Jewishly and smugly replied “It was blown up by its own crew, you stupid vatnik"

”Wrong. It’s been 10 years since an RPG-7 penetrated it. If it was modern technology as you say, and was well protected, it would have reactive armor”

The professor was visibly shaken, and dropped his chalk and copy of Red Storm Rising. He stormed out of the room crying those American crocodile tears, the same tears Americans cry for the Afghan "children" when they smuggle Stinger missiles over the border to kill brave Soviet pilots.

The students applauded and all joined the mechanized infantry that day and accepted Lenin as their lord and savior. A bear named “Soviet Doctrine” walked into the room and climbed atop the Soviet Flag and shed a tear on the chalk. Red Army was read several times, and Zhukov himself showed up and placed S-300 batteries across the country.

The professor lost his tenure and was fired the next day. He died when his F-22 suffocated him and was mocked for all eternity.

Ura.

BMS MISSION TODAY (27 APRIL) 2045 UTC!

Theater: Balkans Theater of Operations

Package 742 - Strike at Split
Package strikes Split Power Plant and an Underground Factory in order to lower enemy's capacity to wage war.

Package Intel - feeling lazy today, no intel. sue me :^)

Flying F16CM Block 50 out of Ljubljana
2 ship Strike - Gypsy 2
2 ship Strike - Serpent 3
2 ship SEAD - Snake 3
2 ship Escort - Stud 3

!WE WILL BE USING IVC AND """ATTEMPT""" TO USE REALISTIC BREVITY TERMS AND COMMS!

Since you guys seem to hate my TS, we will be using the /fsg/ teamspeak. Gather there.
BE THERE AT 2045 GMT
Mission brief will start no later than 2100 UTC
Important:
You have to know the basics if you want to play. By basics, I mean you can fly, you can land, and you can use the radio. You also need to know how to shoot AIM120/ AGM88/ Drop bombs.(delete as appropriate)

LAST NOTE: There will be fuck ups. Also I won't be making ops for a while. Uni work is piling up and I need to finish it. After that around the middle or late May I'll probably be going to Poland.
This'll very likely mean no ops for a few months. IDK whether I'll be able to stay up at night shouting brevity (since I'll be staying with my
grandparents) let alone take my gaming PC.

Why can't they just try not being retarded?
Give the community what it wants. Why would you fight back?

Honestly someone should just take their code and run it them selves. We could have it run all the time, instead of once every three months.

We could rotate the types of scenarios after every match (modern, 80's, strict Russia vs US scenarios)

Trainers are cool to dick around in for an hour or 2, but after that they are just 'meh' planes really. Right now they just seem like a multicrew test. Sure full fledged fighter aircraft are more difficult but I'd rather devs develop a fighter for twice as long than to give us another trainer that we can't actually use.

>>140526151
The trainers pretty much are just a multi-crew test, and only one of them currently supports multi-crew if I recall correctly.

If you can afford it, just save up for x52 pro. it's entry level cheap Saitek shit, but affordable (when they're actually in production) and have enough buttons/toggleable modes that allow it to cover basically everything you need bound in DCS and BMS.

3D Pro is doable, though, just a pain in the ass. My issue was never so much the lack of buttons as its stupid fucking little throttle slider.

The only reason why DCS releases so many trainers is because its cheaper to get the rights, easier to get systems info and they're simple to develop and they want to fleece people with a slow drip of trainers.

Can someone please explain how to get consistent with unguided bombs in DCS, particularly the Sabre

Why does entering at different altitudes change what setting you put the pipper at? What do you need to do to get consistent accuracy?

I keep following the settings, releasing at the given angle but it often drops short or long, sometimes even to the side. Am I supposed to release at a certain altitude? Am I supposed to release at 1G?

You can only carry so many bombs, you have to go back and rearm and also take time getting up to altitude and to the range.

In the amount of time it takes to do a real practice run, you can place the aircraft at the run in point in the editor and do a thousand attempts by reloading and trying to get the technique right.

There is proper theory behind it, there's just hardly any guides for DCS because no one does old school ground attack.
>>
Its a shame ED doesn't acknowledge the existence of its multiplayer.

Even a simple persistant mode like what BoS has would be great.

A bunch of objectives around the map, and something to do for every air frame. The team that actually does the objectives wins.

I'm starting to realize the only reason I like Blue Flag is because its the only time DCS actually comes close to other sims.

Someone needs to just steal Buddyspikes code and just host their own fucking server 24/7

Hi guys, I'm a hardware nerd and want to build a 1:1 simulation cockpit.

I'd like to make a pit that I can play now, but also in the future. BMS seems like a better sim now, but I know DCS is the only sim that will stay up to date. What's a good choice of aircraft to replicate considering this?

I think the F-16 and F-18 are the frontrunners, because they're fast moving/multirole. The F-16 is obviously the main focus of BMS, but it seems like the F-18 is more likely to become available on DCS,

Is the F-18 in BMS modelled well enough that I'd be able to transition from it to the planned DCS module? is the BMS F-18 the same model as the planned DCS module? if the 16 in BMS is 100%, how would you rate the BMS hornet?

The F-18 for BMS is basically a half-assed addon that just uses F-16 systems and avionics for everything.

If you plan to fly the F-18 in DCS, I wouldn't put any serious amount of time into it. You'd be learning incorrect things.

>>
>>140553225
I cant find anything on the net, is F-16 for DCS likely within the next five years?

Would learning the F-16 (which is properly modelled) and applying the knowledge of fast moving multi role gained from that to the DCS F-18 be a better plan than trying to transfer from the incorrect BMS hornet to the DCS one?
>>
>>140553760
Righto. It's a rather ingenious invention the boys had come up with, shame it never made it into service.

I hear that if the foam was deployed when the bugger was close enough, it could go up the intake and cook his goose.
>>
>>140554815
No one's exactly certain as to the pace of development/actual release date of either the F-18 or F-16 for DCS, last I checked both were slated to come out in 2017 or later. Probably later.

ED's being pretty secretive about development of the two modules, but F-18 can probably be expected first as they're trying to roll out carrier-based modules, starting with $40+ revamps of the existing carriers ingame.

Learning F-16 in BMS before DCS is probably a good idea, DCS's model, if not worse, should pretty much just feature "qualify of life" improvements over Falcon 4.0's implementation, mostly relating to IFF and Falcon's lack thereof.
>>
>>140553081
Hornet is guaranteed to be a module. It's is your safe bet if you want to stick with DCS, and considering how long it'll take you to build such a thing, it'll probably coincide with the module's release well enough.

The F-18 is BMS is not an F-18. It's a reskinned F-16.

F-16 is not coming to DCS for the forseeable future. If it hasn't been announced by now, don't expect it for at least another 6 years, and I'm not exaggerating with that estimate. The Hornet on the other hand is already confirmed and will probably come out sometime next year.
>>
>>140557289
On the flipside, I wouldn't be surprised if it's much easier to find details and plans on an F-16 pit due to how many people have already built those for Falcon.

I can't recall anybody building a Hornet pit, likely because there's no BMS/DCS level Hornet to fly outside of that payware FSX Super Hornet.
>>
>>140557289
I think the F-16C module is listed on the "unofficial" development roadmap for DCS, doesn't have any specific release date on it, though, so I wouldn't hold my breath on it, even if it is in development.

The Typhoon and Mirage F1 will be out before it is, mark my words.
>>
>>140557669
The unofficial development roadmap is literally fan fiction. It means nothing at all.

-you have no clue what you're doing
-you ain't got time to do it yourself
>>

don't fucking get me started on that shit.

Delanclip's solution seems to be to hold everything onto the headphones with zipties. It's cheap and it works, I guess. Wonder how expensive an improved version with a mount like trackIR's overpriced clip has would run?

I guess zip ties work in the meantime, they're just fucking ugly and probably going to get caught up in peoples' hair, because it fucking does mine.

Wear a hat, faggots.

>>140568285
I just put adhesive velcro on my headphones and the DelanClip. Stays in place fairly well, 0% bothersome, and its easy to remove when I just want to use my headphones.
>>
>>140568462
may be worth looking into, my immediate fear is that using velcro could cause some amount of "wobble" when moving the head, but if you're saying it's working fine I assume you either found a workaround or it was never an issue for you.
>>

Never really looked into the ones on ebay, I haven't ever really used the site because of fears of that PayPal bullshit getting hacked into every so often.
>>
>>140568582
It was never an issue. I have the soft part on my headphones and the "hard" prickly part on the DelanClip. I just had to bend the clip a little so that when I moved suddenly, the clip wouldn't collide with my headphones. Took about 15 minutes for the whole process (cutting lengths of adhesive, etc.) and never had to worry about it again. There is some wobble if I really shake my head like I'm having a seizure but under normal conditions it's perfectly fine.

>>140568597

I've been seeing it mentioned more instead of people just mentioning to DIY it too
>>
>>140569586
Anon, the bundle of Delanclip + the eyetoy still comes out to be half the price of TrackIR itself, after shipping.

TrackClipPro makes TrackIR come out to $185 in total, before shipping. I'd really rather pay a third (less than a third, actually) of that for basically the same thing.

>>140569691
Why the fuck does the TrackHat even exist?

Wouldn't everyone just buy the TrackHat Clip? Not only is it less expensive, it doesn't require you to strap a fucking battery pack to the back of your skull. Regardless of how safe it really is, that shit would constantly give me cause for concern.

I really can't for the life of me figure out why it exists, other than to milk money from stupid people. Couldn't you just build a mockup of trackIR's silly little reflective strips to be mounted on hats for the same effect via opentrack?

Anyone got a good guide for BVR combat, or could point me toward the relevant files/location in the autism folder?

I found this and have been using it, but it's a bit over my head: http://www.ipcsit.com/vol16/24-ICICM2011M054.pdf

Would be nice to find something more geared towards laymen.

I'm decent enough at BFM from playing WW2 flight sims for years, really haven't had too many difficulties there after adding heat-seekers and flares to the mix, BVR is proving more problematic as I'm never certain when to start notching to fuck with an enemy radar, I'm beginning to think I should just do so as soon as I notice I'm being painted by a fighter to try to drop from the fuck's radar as soon as I can.

is BMS better for learning general combat sim stuff than DCS?

i.e. will the tutorials/manuals give me a bunch of useful information that i cant get out of DCS manuals?
>>
>>140581864
tutorials are horrible

most information is handed down via books from the autism folder, youtube videos and multiplayer coop
>>

DCS tutorials hold your hand while BMS tutorials give you a scenario and you fly it depending on what it is .

Give me a combat flight sim where you play as a bunch of mercenaries and you buy your own planes/missiles/wingmen in a dynamic campaign instead. With 3rd gen planes and early 4th gen as the end game. That'd be cash as fuck.

So after some testing last night, it seems Polychop actually modelled the laser and camera on the Gazelle correctly and it cannot be used to launch anything other than the HOT missiles.

It's a little unfortunate since I wanted to try and launch mavericks and hellfires. But on the bright side after looking through the Gazelle's lua files etc it at least seems like Polychop knows what they're doing.
>>
>>140613595
Correction: other weapons will launch, but they won't track and to even launch them at all the computer needs to grant launch authorization, which is based on the HOT missile parameters.

I suppose technically you could use something like dumb bombs, rockets, or gunpods in this way but it would be quite awkward.

So, correct me if I'm wrong. To get into flight simulators you need:
a decent joystick
a pretty powerful rig
some sort of head tracking system
pedals (optional?)
flight manuals
autism/patience
two monitors/a photocopier (to be able to read the manuals without tabbing out of the game)
>>
>>140620435
meant a printer of course, not a photocopier. Got lost in translation there

>>

>>
>>140620435
>a pretty powerful rig
Depends on what you want to play. IL-2 1946 doesnt need a powerful rig and BMS either, I belive.

>some sort of head tracking system
A few poorfags use WASD to handle the camera, though it isnt exactly recommended. In the worst case scenario, you can always use the cellphone as headtracker.

>two monitors/a photocopier
optional
>>
>>140621191

>a decent joystick
Yes.

>some sort of head tracking system

>pedals (optional?)
Recommended for prop planes, ground attack planes and helicopters. If you want to fly babby cliffs planes you don't need them.

>two monitors/a photocopier
Just use your smartphone.
>>
>>140621415
A friend tried to do that but he failed miserably because moving 2 things at separate rates can be confusing.
>>
>>140620435
You don't really need pedals. A lot of sticks have twist functions for yaw as well.
>>
>>140621694
I have zero problem with it since I've been doing it from the beginning I guess
>>
which DCS settings should I lower first if I get drops to FPS when shooting the huey's miniguns?
>>
>>140620435
I'm in the process of getting into them myself, and of all those things I only have patience and arguably a decent HOTAS (x52 pro). My toaster is sporting an X4 955 and a GTX 650 1GB.

Granted, I've not done anything but getting the hang of the 25T and a little bit of flying in the 15C yet, but you can definitely start getting into them without most of that, enough to figure out whether they're actually for you.
>>
>>140620435
Meh, you'll want a decent joystick but even a cheap one will work as long as it has a throttle and (if you are not using pedals) a twist grip. Head tracking is the big thing you'll want to invest in after your stick, it's not necessary but it does make a HUGE difference if you have one. For you computer, if you are running a 64 bit version of windows and have a mid range dx11 capable gpu you'll be fine, try and have at least 8GB of RAM for DCS though, optimally 16GB. All the flight manuals are easily available either in the game files or from the game's website, there are even condensed guides like chuck's guides. Patience and dedication are a given although a lot of stuff is actually easier than you think, you just need to ignore how intimidating it seems.

Probably more anons would be willing to make them if we had an infopic to make trackIR clips with an USB cable as power supply. As far as I've seen, the examples differ in resistors (some use 3 and some use a single one) and they use batteries, which are annoying due weight and placement.
>>
>>140645093
>the examples differ in resistors (some use 3 and some use a single one)
That matters for jackshit if you're tech savvy. For the record I bought one instead of making one because paying > gathering the necessary material (mostly for the support, IR leds and resistors are really easy to come by and also cheap) and risking of having something that isn't accurate.

Also this reminds me, is there any racing sim with normie cars? I just got into racing sims and got Assetto Corsa. It's fun in all but I wanna see how fast I go in a shitty riceracer without getting a ticket.

Also is it possible to turn off ABS in cars or am I asking for too much? ABS just feels weird

Sorry about the slow reply, something came up. It would normally take like ~5 minutes.

If the LEDs are very similar if not the same as the ones you linked, 10ohms will be enough(actually there's some more leeway, better safe than...) if you link the LEDs into a single large circuit(series) like in>>140646379.

Personally, I would make the 3 LEDs in their own circuits(parallel).
Because it would be easier to diagnose when a LED dies.
in series (all connected together), when one fail all fail. Whereas, when in parallel(each LED has their own 2 wires to the power) each fail by themselves.
However, parallel circuit would need more soldering and a different resistor value
>>
>>140666336
Now I think about it, you could possibly skip out from soldering by winding the wires together very very tight than secure it by putting some hot glue/glue-gun glue on it
Never tried it myself, try at your own risk
>>
>>140667735
What about that conductive black sticky shit I've seen some people use?
>>
>>140663726
Can you even call it a 5th gen fighter if it's only stealthy from the front?

>>
>>140666336
>>140667735
Now that you mention, never thought about that. How often do they die? As for the wires, I dont have a glue gun so I'll go for the soldering magicks solution. Will do this on monday though, stores are closed.

LEDs are suppose to last a long long time As long as you don't blow it up in the start and if the connection and current is stable, properly done and not shorted.
Although I'm very certain of my calculation, I would still try it out with something like a smartphone charger (the 5V variant) to be safe (in case, I goofed or you accidentally shorted a soldering)
What is this "soldering magicks solution"?

>>140668179

Between the fact that it takes literally days of practice to become even semi-competent in an aircraft, and the sheer amount of man-hours it takes to create a module, it's an entirely fair price. Plus, they go on sale fairly regularly.

No.

Yes(?). You fly in a persistent world where people will plan flights and there are usually Human AWACS to point you if you need alternative missions.

It's always fun watching a line of contacts which are usually entire squadrons fly over the DMZ.

The downside is that there is a time limit and the campaign is pulled down and one side declared winner.

>When you guys dogfight do you instinctively know what the optimal pursuit curve is and all the BFM stuff?

Cockpit cues. Guesstimation of energy and angular advantage. A general idea what your aircraft and enemies aircraft EM graph should look like and where your advantages lie.

If you absolutely MUST read something, start with Air to Air tactical reference. It's shorter and much more digestible.
>>
>>140691075
Check dragon's training maps. There were also some servers hosting them. Much better than practicing alone.

>>140691075
BFM is mostly just everyone shit-flinging missiles at each other, it's only in the WW2 & Korean War birds that all that crap is vital.

If you want three important skills to take into multiplayer:
- how to communicate clearly
- how to maintain situational awareness
- how to dodge an ARH missile

I did some more experimentation with impostors today after reading that paper on visibility that Falcon bases Smart Scaling off of, and after talking to some people while playing on the Blue Flag server who are really annoyed at seeing tiny objects from far away.

Basically, I copied the BMS Smart Scaling formula to see how well it would work in DCS. It works, but it's not pretty, and it has a lot of shortcomings because of the way impostors are written.

The good:

It works exactly like BMS's Smart Scaling. This means that they prioritize identifying and spotting of targets within visual range (~5 miles and less), and the benefit of it becomes less and less with distance. I was already a fan of how BMS did this, but after reading the paper I'm now even more convinced this is the right approach.

Smart Scaling is very specifically designed to make sure that within visual range, you have the same level of information on your target as you would in real life. This includes both being able to identify what it is, and what direction it's flying in without having to zoom in to ludicrous levels like in DCS.

The bad:

Impostors aren't designed to work with this kind of system. This works best when you scale the models themselves.

Because impostors are rendered at only certain angles, and because this requires very large impostors, it can end up looking like Wing Commander with airplanes "popping" between angles. In a dogfight you won't really notice or care, but it's distracting when you're just looking at your wingmen.

Impostors and variable field of view don't go well together. This whole system starts to get really weird once you start zooming the camera in and out, because impostor pixel size is constant no matter what your zoom. Planes will change size dramatically in a way that looks very wrong.

TL;DR: Using BMS's Smart Scaling formula on DCS impostors is an interesting proof of concept, but looks all kinds of strange because impostors are pixel and sprite based.

When it comes to long range visibility, impostors are a good approach, and very controllable to get the desired initial spotting ranges you want. ED doesn't attempt to do anything like that, but if they cared, they could.

Both methods have tradeoffs, with the biggest downside of the BMS geometry scaling solution being that zooming in on planes causes the scaling to look even weirder.

However the more I've thought about it, the more I side with the Falcon BMS implementation of this. The real problem for WWII and Korea players in DCS is that WVR they lose sight of things they really shouldn't be. Even in modern jets after the merge, it shouldn't still feel like BVR when the other guy is only 2 miles away from you.

I was already a Falcon BMS fanboy before I went down this rabbit hole, but now I'm an even bigger one. I still wouldn't be opposed to turning down the overall magnification slightly, but the concept is very sound and the paper was very convincing.

A combination of the two systems would perhaps be best, as they should be able to cover each other's disadvantages. I would also consider a FOV modifier for geometry model scaling so that when zooming in on an F-16, it wouldn't maintain the apparent size of a B-52. On my own projects, this (FOV modifier along with combining an impostor like system and scaling) is something I've experimented with and I believe it's a solid foundation to make something realistic.

Either way, I don't remember what your arguments were, but I agree that ED wrote themselves into a corner with this one. Impostors (while very novel and interesting) wasn't the best approach. Unfortunately, the failure and inattention of this gives ED and the its cock sucking community a great excuse to never bother to try again.
>>
>>140721626
You don't actually need to scale geometry though, that's almost as retarded as using 2D sprites

Different perspective matrix for models that should be smart-scaled

Assuming that there's a plaintext shader for plane models it could maybe even be modded in, though it'll probably fuck with post fx
>>
>>140723104
I've been lookin for one for a while, but haven't found one. I dont think planes or objects use their own exclusive shader.
>>
How does DCS handle LOD? I assume scaling geometry / perspective requires higher quality distant plane models, would probably cause the engine to shit itself yet again
>>
>>140723104
you know a matrix contains scaling, position and rotation right? how is that different or useful from scaling it?
>>
How does the impostor shader work? Is it passed the actual plane mesh, or is it just a quad with a texture on it?

Mi-8 is a solid heli, easy to learn and easy to fly.

Much, MUCH more stable than the Huey and a lot faster too. Downsides are lack of LASER AIM Door gunners and being slightly less agile.

It is very comfy too because of Russian cockpit design and you can learn it in a weekend honestly. If you have spare money buy it, otherwise wait for a sale.

Load up the server, let a replay be generated (should only take a few seconds), open the replay file, change its extension from trk to miz, then open the replay in the mission editor. If you want to see the scripts that Blue Flag uses, change the extension to .zip and look for lua files.

This should get you everything that's included in the DCS mission file and the source files for whatever lua scripts run the mission.

It won't give you whatever external tools they might use of course, but it's better than nothing.
>>
>>140723673
LODs are swapped out purely based on pre-defined distances. Something like BMS Smart Scaling wouldn't cause a big enough difference that LODs would need to be changed.

>>140724131
It's just a quad with a texture on it, but that texture is generated based on the model itself. Considering the Wing Commander-esque angle snapping, I think they generate the texture once at startup and then reference it like a sprite sheet but I'm not 100% sure on that yet. The generated textures are based on the LOD0 model, so no matter the distance the object is at, it'll still look like its at its highest detail if the impostor is showing.
>>
>>140739434
If I get time later today I'll see what I can do with the blueflag mission.
