So the ring of steel protection is broken for me. Tested with a friend who was using Black Knight Greataxe, with it on his 2H R1 only did 8 or 9 less damage.

Even with caster grade int/faith you breath wont even break 90 damage on a silver knight, and it's so slow that it wont stagger for shit.
The roar is only a measily 20% damage buff for like 5 seconds.
The stand powers have cast times that are slower than most high end spells and they do less damage than a straight sword swing, not to mention you have no hyper armor while casting them, guaranteeing you'll barely if ever get them off.
What the fuck happened? Cauliflower and beastmode where grade A transformations, and then they phone it in with DaS2 nerfed dragon abilities, without actually giving you armor to compensate.
This is by far the weakest the dragonform has been in the souls series.

Honestly, I really feel like all the weapons feel as they should in regards to damage and functionality, with one exception: Straight Swords. I've beaten the game with a lot of different weapons classes (Straight sword, Katana, Halberd, Great Axe, Great Sword, regular Axes), and everything feels good as fuck and has the damage it should except for Straight Swords and it throws the whole thing out of wack. It makes greatswords seem completely trash (though I admit they could use a small damage buff) because their base damage is so close to them. Pretty much all of the weapon classes have damage that make sense by themselves, but when you compare them to straight swords it just doesn't make sense.
I think if Straight Swords just received a universal damage nerf everything would make a lot more sense. They'd also still be good because they're fast as shit, don't use almost ANY stamina and have a godlike 1HR1 for PvE.

This is kinda bullshit. Magic is so weak in this game, both in PvE and PvP. I'm doing more damage hitting people a few times with my fire sword as a Full Int build than I am with Fire Orb, and it doesn't basically stun me in place while I'm doing it either.
Not to mention so many enemies are hyper aggressive, and don't give you an once of space to cast anything.
It's even worse in PvP. I get lucky and slap someone for 200 or so damage with the Fire Orb, then they just roll forward and half my fucking health bar with a single attack.
I get that magic (specifially Hexes) was kinda overpowered in Dark Souls 2, but this seems like going too far in the opposite direction.

Is there any point in leveling str/dex on a NG playthrough? It seems that raw outdamages almost everything else until you have around 35 str/dex, even on fairly high scaling weapons.

Parry works the same as every goddamn countering mechanic ever created since the dawn of time.
1) Enemy attacks yoy
2) Hit the parry button the moment before you believe the attack will hit
3) Enemys gets "stunned," and does a little staggering animation
4) Hit light attack to riposte the enemy and deal massive damage
The counter may not work on large enemies, however--a good rule of thumb is that if they're human shaped and generally human sized, you can counter them.

The PVP is pretty much centered around being an asshole no matter what side you're on unless you're inviting someone in with a red soapstone.
I use a greatshield with 85 stabilty and a dark blade for pvp. I never roll and just hold my shield up until you spend ur stamina then just spam r1 and kill you. How much do you hate me?

Dark Souls 3 maintains it's quality throughout and only gets better as you progress
Bloodborne is excellent up until vicar amelia, at which point the game loses all pace and loses all challenge
Forbidden woods is long, boring, and largely uninteresting, the boss is really shit. Byrgenwerth is shit, short and features a boss tied with the bed of chaos in awfulness
Yahar'gul is filled with gank buffed respawning enemy encounters, with very little interesting to do
Nightmare frontier is almost pointless barring a few runes, the boss is a complete disappointment after seeing amygdala's in yahar'gul, they're so much more opressive
Nightmare of mensis is shit and short, winter lanters are horrible enemy design, there are reused enemies present here and even more ganky scenarios, very fun, mergo's wet nurse is shit, micolash is another near bed of chaos awfulness boss
Upper cathedral ward is short, the main room is full of brainsuckers who by design shouldn't be clustered together, and multiple beasts which encourage cheesing, ebrietas is excellent, celestial emissary is garbage
Cainhurst is underutilised, logarius is pretty good though
Gehrman is decent, moon presence is not
Chalice dungeon's are shit

Area design in general is much better than bloodborne with more interactivity, more shortcuts and loops etc.
While bloodborne loses all stride after amelia, DaS3 begins strong and ends even better, with the opening being both more welcoming, and the late game being more challenging.
The PVP in bloodborne was almost laughable at release, it was so monotonous and dull, not to mention the sheer broken nature of the networking and lack of interesting covenants.
